I Was Told 'No One Would Miss You,' So I Became the Empress of Another Country - Episode 22
After a long journey, I finally arrived in Aradis, the capital of the Igleia Empire.
Unlike the kingdom’s cities, magnificent buildings lined the streets, and the vast imperial palace towered over them all.
The people’s clothing was slightly different, and even their way of speaking had a subtly different accent from the kingdom.
As I stepped down from the carriage, Logan’s close aides welcomed me with great enthusiasm.
I had expected them to give me wary looks, but instead, they smiled at me warmly.
They were likely treating me with the proper courtesy as a guest invited by the emperor.
“Welcome to the Igleia Empire. I am one of His Majesty’s close aides. We have been eagerly awaiting your arrival, Lady Celestia.”
A man dressed in navy blue bowed deeply.
I had heard that they were initially wary of me, but now that I saw them in person, I sensed none of that tension.
Perhaps Logan had explained everything to them beforehand.
“Thank you for having me. I am unfamiliar with many things here, so I appreciate your guidance.”
“Of course. Please don’t hesitate to ask if you need anything.”
The Aradis palace was adorned with towering stone walls and dazzling decorations in vivid colors.
The royal palace of Lowell was beautiful as well, but this place had a different kind of grandeur and elegance.
The aides guided me to a spacious guest room and suggested that I rest for a while.
“You must be tired from your long journey. Once you are settled, we will arrange an audience with His Majesty.”
“Thank you. That would be very helpful.”
As I entered the room and gazed out the large window, I saw a vast courtyard stretching below.
A fountain and a beautiful garden filled the space, and the people of the empire carried themselves with a refined air.
The customs and clothing were different from those of the kingdom, making everything feel new and exciting.
As I was unpacking, several women who appeared to be maids entered the room to assist me.
At first, they seemed slightly tense, but when I thanked them, they responded with warm smiles.
“We have been looking forward to your arrival. The empire has many unique customs, but please feel free to ask if anything is unclear.”
“Thank you. I appreciate it.”
To them, I was probably just a noblewoman from a foreign land.
Yet, I felt that the barrier between us wasn’t as high as I had feared.
It was likely because I had already gained Logan’s trust.
After resting, I was given a tour of the grand palace.
I walked along stone-paved corridors, passed through halls lined with towering pillars, and admired rooms decorated with murals and sculptures.
The sheer scale of the palace was overwhelming.
“It’s like a maze… I feel like I might get lost,” I muttered under my breath.
Hearing this, the aide guiding me chuckled softly.
“Everyone says that at first. But you’ll get used to it soon. Take your time and settle into court life.”
His words reassured me a little.
This was the beginning of my new life.
Things wouldn’t go smoothly right away, but I would take my time and adjust.
As evening fell, Logan came to visit my room.
His short, jet-black hair and golden eyes gleamed under the fading light.
His confident posture was the same as always, but I could sense a gentle concern in his expression.
“Are you feeling better after the long journey? Aradis Palace is vast—you must be overwhelmed.”
“Yes, honestly… the size of it all made my head spin. But the close aides have been very kind, so I’m managing.”
Hearing this, Logan nodded in satisfaction.
“That’s good to hear. At first, I was worried that they might be cautious around you, but it seems you’ve already started to get along.”
“Yes, and it’s all thanks to Your Majesty. I truly appreciate it.”
Logan quietly replied, “There’s no need to thank me,” before gazing out the window.
The capital of Aradis was bathed in the warm glow of the evening lights.
As I watched Logan’s back, I suddenly felt the weight of the reality that I was now in a completely different world from the kingdom.
“You may still find many things unfamiliar, but you can always rely on me. If you ever need anything, don’t hesitate to ask.”
“Thank you. That’s very reassuring.”
Because of this emperor, I was able to take this new step forward.
I had been anxious when I left the kingdom, but now that I was here, I felt surprisingly at ease.
Yet, as I looked out at the night sky, I couldn’t shake the lingering thoughts of the kingdom.
What had become of Leon and Flora?
I no longer wanted to be caught up in their affairs, but I couldn’t completely forget my friends or my father back home.
As if reflecting my unease, troubling rumors from the kingdom would arrive early the next morning.
