I Was Told 'No One Would Miss You,' So I Became the Empress of Another Country - Episode 25
Some time passed, and the imperial court was buzzing with a major rumor.
It was said that Logan would soon hold an “engagement announcement ceremony.”
When the emperor officially chooses his empress, it is customary to introduce her to the public with a grand ceremony.
I first heard about this during a casual conversation with a lady-in-waiting.
“The engagement announcement… Lately, His Majesty’s demeanor suggests that he might finally be making a serious decision. The entire noble society of the empire is paying attention, and it will be a huge event.”
“I see… Is that so?”
My heart skipped a beat.
I recalled how Logan had recently hinted that he wanted me to become his empress.
If things were truly progressing in that direction, then I was likely to be the “chosen one.”
However, no one had officially introduced me as a candidate for empress yet.
Sensing my unease, the lady-in-waiting added hesitantly:
“But, the official announcement of the chosen partner has not been made yet. His Majesty is being cautious, and the noble families are growing restless.”
“I see…”
I smiled, though my emotions were complicated.
If I were to become the empress, the question remained whether the nobles of the empire would accept me.
I had only recently arrived from a foreign kingdom. To the imperial nobility, I was an outsider—without achievements or noble lineage to back me.
Would they acknowledge me? Doubts swirled in my mind.
That evening, I had a chance to see Logan, and I gathered my courage to ask him about the engagement rumors.
“Your Majesty, is it true that an engagement announcement will be made soon?”
He let out a small chuckle before answering.
“It seems the court is already in an uproar. But I haven’t officially announced anything yet. It is true that I need to start thinking about an heir soon, but nothing has been decided.”
“Then… am I a candidate?”
“For now, it’s nothing more than a rumor. Since you haven’t made up your mind yet, I won’t make anything public.”
Hearing that, I felt both relieved and slightly disappointed.
Maybe my own indecisiveness had led to this uncertainty.
However, that night, everything suddenly changed.
One of Logan’s close aides rushed in, out of breath, and delivered urgent news.
“Your Majesty, we have a serious situation! According to a recent report from our spies, there is reason to believe that Flora has infiltrated the empire!”
“Flora…?”
I gasped in shock.
Flora had been cornered in the kingdom—how could she have made it all the way here?
I also wondered what Leon was up to, but for now, the more pressing concern was the possibility that Flora was already within the empire.
“Did she come here to target me… or is she plotting something else?”
My mind spun with possibilities.
Back in the kingdom, Flora had worked with Leon to torment me endlessly.
After being practically exiled, what could she be planning now?
Logan wasted no time strengthening security, ordering strict restrictions on movement in and out of the palace.
He also instructed me to refrain from going outside.
“Now that she’s here, there’s a high chance Flora will resort to extreme measures. Your safety is my top priority—you must stay inside the palace for now.”
“Understood…”
I let out a quiet sigh.
I was stunned by Flora’s persistence—how far was she willing to go just to pursue me?
And the thought that Leon might be behind this filled me with dread.
“She might be using the engagement rumors as a distraction to create chaos. Someone is certainly trying to harm you. Please, stay where I can protect you.”
Logan’s words were firm, and I nodded resolutely.
For now, the safest course was to follow his lead.
We had to stop Flora’s schemes before they took root in the empire.
And so, once again, I found myself caught in the middle of a storm.
My position in the empire remained uncertain, and now, Flora was on the move.
But I would not run. I had no intention of fleeing.
If I had chosen to live in this empire, I could not allow ghosts from my past to defeat me.
“To secure my future, I must stop Flora first.”
Determination burned in my heart.
My battle with Flora was not over—it would continue here, in the Igleia Empire.
But I was no longer the person I once was.
With my own strength—and Logan’s support—I would overcome this storm.
