I Was Told 'No One Would Miss You,' So I Became the Empress of Another Country - Episode 27
It was only a matter of time before Leon infiltrated the empire—or so the rumors said. A few days later, those rumors became reality.
However, rather than sneaking in, he openly crossed the border and appeared in an imperial city, where he was now staying at a noble’s mansion.
That noble’s family seemed to have business dealings with the Kingdom of Lowell, and they had welcomed Leon as a guest.
“I never thought he would actually come…”
When I heard the news from an imperial maid, I couldn’t help but feel bitter.
Even though Leon had temporarily lost his title as crown prince, he was still royalty.
He continued to use that status to maintain significant influence.
On top of that, I received a report that Flora had already contacted Leon.
It seemed that their affair from the kingdom was still ongoing, and now, the two of them were plotting something new.
“If they join forces, there’s a high chance they’ll try to eliminate me. Please be careful.”
One of Logan’s close aides warned me.
As someone acting as an assistant to the emperor, Leon and Flora were clear enemies to me.
They might try to ruin my reputation in the empire and damage the emperor’s standing as well.
Amid all this, I had the opportunity to be alone with Logan after a court meeting.
He leaned back in his chair and spoke in a heavy tone.
“I already know that Leon and Flora are in the empire. Given the kingdom’s current situation, it was only a matter of time before he made this move.”
“I believe he’s aiming to reclaim his title as crown prince. He may be looking for a way to use the empire to force the king’s approval.”
“Most likely. If he succeeds in bringing about my downfall, he could push for the kingdom to break its alliance or negotiate new deals on his terms.”
Logan let out a small sigh, narrowing his golden-hued eyes.
“He’s a truly troublesome opponent. And with Flora involved too… This must be a painful reunion for you.”
“Yes… Honestly, if possible, I’d rather not see them. But this time, I won’t run away.”
Even as I recognized the fear within me, I met Logan’s gaze head-on.
The wounds Leon and Flora had inflicted on me ran deep.
But I couldn’t afford to simply run and hide in the empire.
Logan nodded at my words, a slight, gentle smile forming at his lips.
“As long as you have that resolve, there’s nothing to worry about. If you stand firm, neither I nor the imperial army will ever betray you.”
“Thank you. But… it seems they’re already getting close to the imperial nobles. If they manage to win them over, they could strike from within.”
“I’ll make sure they’re watched closely. Flora’s methods in the kingdom gave us a good idea of her tactics—she deceives people with money and lies.”
Indeed, Flora had used similar tricks in the kingdom to stir up chaos everywhere.
And if those failed, she resorted to poison and fabricated scandals.
“Right now, there’s talk of a formal engagement announcement, and the entire empire is on edge. In this unstable atmosphere, causing a disturbance would be easy for them.”
Logan gave a heavy nod.
“The engagement is still unofficial, but the rumors have already spread, and the capital is in turmoil. This presents the perfect opportunity for Flora and Leon to strike.”
I bit my lip.
If it became public that I was a candidate for empress, Leon and Flora would surely take even more extreme measures.
But at this point, there was no way to keep my position hidden.
“If they crash the announcement event…”
“It’s possible. Even so, I intend to introduce you proudly. In this empire, you are the rightful candidate for empress, and I must make that clear.”
Logan’s determination was unwavering.
His eyes held firm resolve.
He was taking the initiative to ensure I would no longer be threatened by Leon and Flora.
“I will prepare myself as well. No matter what those two try, I will never lose.”
As I spoke, I felt strength in my voice.
More than my fear of Leon and Flora, I wanted to believe in the people here who stood by me.
That unpleasant reunion was inevitable.
But this time, I would not simply suffer as I did in the kingdom.
