I Was Told 'No One Would Miss You,' So I Became the Empress of Another Country - Episode 30
The grand hall, scattered with poisonous fragments, was quickly sealed off by the swift actions of the guards, and people were temporarily evacuated.
The imperial nobles were in a state of panic, their screams and confusion making it impossible to proceed with the engagement announcement.
Amidst the chaos, Logan remained composed.
He ordered Leon and Flora to be taken into custody while also calling for experts to analyze the poison, determined to uncover the full truth behind the incident.
“Everyone, stay calm. The Imperial Guard has secured the area. It seems there are no injuries, but just in case, everyone will be examined one by one.”
Logan spoke in a calm voice to the nobles who had evacuated outside the hall.
His commanding presence seemed to reassure the panicked crowd, gradually bringing back order.
I moved to a safe room along with Lydia and the maids.
On the way, Logan rushed over, took my hand, and spoke in a low voice.
“You must testify as a witness and reveal the truth about this poisoning incident. If Flora denies her guilt, your testimony will be the decisive evidence.”
Indeed, Lydia and I both saw Flora trying to poison me at the engagement announcement.
Many nobles were present, but only a few may have witnessed the exact moment clearly.
If I testify confidently, Flora’s crime will be undeniable.
“I understand. I can’t just turn a blind eye, and it was clearly her doing.”
Logan gave a small nod and then instructed the guard walking beside him.
“Take Flora to the dungeon first. As for Leon, try to detain him as well. If possible, capture him immediately.”
However, before he could finish speaking, another guard rushed in.
“Your Majesty! We lost sight of Prince Leon! He resisted fiercely, and his subordinates intervened… Reports say he has fled into the depths of the palace!”
“What…?”
I gasped.
Flora had been caught in the act, but Leon was still on the loose.
“Your Majesty, it appears he had allies outside. They might have secured an escape route in advance.”
Hearing the report, Logan closed his eyes briefly.
His stern expression showed the rising anger within him.
“We have no choice. Escort Flora immediately, and form a pursuit team for Leon. The ceremony is temporarily suspended—we need to restore order.”
And so, the engagement announcement was effectively canceled, and Flora was taken away on the spot.
She shouted and cursed, but she was completely restrained.
“Leon must also face justice.”
Logan declared in a low voice.
Now that Flora’s poisoning attempt had been exposed, Leon would not be able to talk his way out of his crimes.
A wave of relief and exhaustion washed over me, making my knees almost give out.
“Celestia, are you all right?”
“Yes… I just feel a little relieved.”
Logan supported my shoulder, and Lydia stood close beside me.
“I was really worried… But I’m so glad you’re safe.”
“Lydia, thank you so much. If it weren’t for you…”
Grateful, I squeezed her hand tightly.
It was thanks to Lydia’s brave actions that I was able to avoid Flora’s poison.
And so, the turbulent engagement ceremony came to a close.
However, Leon was still at large.
Flora had been taken away, but Leon would also be held accountable for his crimes.
Logan reaffirmed his determination, declaring, “Leon must face justice.” The palace was filled with murmurs and unrest.
“I never imagined… things would escalate this far.”
With mixed emotions, I took a deep breath in a waiting room away from the grand hall.
Leon had fixated on me once again, and Flora had tried to poison me.
It felt like reliving a nightmare from my time in the kingdom, and my body trembled at the thought.
Even so, I refused to be controlled by them any longer.
As long as Logan and the empire stood by me, I would hold my ground with confidence.
No matter how much the crown prince struggled, there would be no escape for him this time.
The time to hold him accountable—just like Flora—was drawing near.
