I Was Told 'No One Would Miss You,' So I Became the Empress of Another Country - Episode 32
While Leon was hiding and bribing imperial nobles, an uneasy atmosphere was spreading in the kingdom due to his absence.
I received a letter from my father around the time these rumors began circulating in the royal court.
My father, as the kingdom’s supreme commander, was working tirelessly to prevent a civil war.
The letter contained detailed information about Leon and a report on the kingdom’s growing instability.
“To Celestia,
There is a high chance that Leon is gathering troops to stage a coup. However, the king still sees him as his son and cannot make a decisive move. The nobles are also splitting into factions—those who support Leon and those against him.”
As I read the letter, I felt a tightness in my chest.
Since we didn’t know when Leon might rebel, I was worried about my father and Lydia’s safety.
That day, I requested a meeting with Logan and showed him my father’s letter.
He read it quietly, pressing his hand against his forehead in deep thought.
“So, the kingdom is not united either. If they completely remove Leon, the royal family’s authority will suffer greatly. But if they leave him alone, a civil war is likely to happen…”
“Yes. My father is doing his best to put out the sparks before they turn into flames, but the king’s indecisiveness is preventing any progress.”
“Perhaps they underestimated Leon when he was still the crown prince. He is a man who clings to his ambitions. If we don’t stop him quickly, the kingdom will fall apart.”
I had no choice but to agree with Logan’s words.
That former crown prince was a dangerous man driven by pride and selfishness.
If this continued, he might destroy the kingdom.
Suddenly, an idea came to me, and I asked Logan,
“Your Majesty, what if Leon never returns to the kingdom and instead stays hidden in the empire or tries to escape abroad?”
“Escape abroad? He could seek asylum in a distant country and plan an attack on the kingdom from there. Or he might connect with black-market merchants to hire mercenaries.”
“I see… Is his goal to reclaim the throne or simply to survive? Or perhaps both? Either way, we must secure the borders.”
Logan nodded deeply and immediately summoned his aide.
“Send warnings to all troops stationed near the empire’s borders. If they see any suspicious travelers or figures, they must report it immediately. Leon may try to disguise himself to pass through.”
“Understood. I will arrange it at once.”
After the aide left the room, Logan let out a deep sigh.
“This should at least make it harder for Leon to escape the country. But finding him within the empire will still take time. If we act recklessly, we may cause unnecessary damage.”
“Yes. I will continue gathering information through my maids and Lydia. If we can capture him before he returns to the kingdom, we may still have a chance.”
Stopping Leon before the kingdom gets dragged into a rebellion—
That was our greatest mission right now.
To prevent an international crisis, Logan had to track Leon down in secret.
Just as we finished our discussion and were about to leave the room, another urgent report arrived.
A high-ranking imperial official appeared before Logan and me.
“Your Majesty, it seems Flora attempted to escape from prison. She tried to bribe the guards, and there are signs that black-market merchants were involved. Fortunately, her plan failed, but this is a serious threat.”
“What…? Flora, too?”
I let out a sigh.
Even after committing such a major poisoning incident, she still hadn’t given up.
Thinking back on her persistence in the kingdom, there was no way she would simply accept her punishment.
“Flora might try to join Leon. If he sees her as useful, he could attempt to rescue her.”
Logan narrowed his eyes at the official’s report.
“The evidence against Flora is clear—she is guilty. If Leon tries to help her, we might find a way to use that against him. Strengthen the surveillance around her.”
“Understood. We will tighten security at the prison.”
With that, Flora’s monitoring became even stricter.
We had to prevent her and Leon from working together at all costs.
If those two joined forces, they would set an even more dangerous and cunning trap.
First, my father’s letter warning about Leon.
Then, news of Flora’s failed escape attempt from the empire.
It felt like trouble kept piling up one after another, and I couldn’t find a moment of peace.
But I couldn’t afford to give up now.
“No matter what Leon does, no matter what Flora tries, I won’t lose. I have the people of the empire and His Majesty Logan by my side.”
I repeated those words to myself and strengthened my resolve.
As I prepared for the inevitable battle ahead, I carefully tucked my father’s letter close to my heart.
