I Was Told 'No One Would Miss You,' So I Became the Empress of Another Country - Episode 33
The day after Flora’s attempted escape was discovered, shocking news reached me.
She had finally broken out of prison with the help of an underground merchant and disappeared without a trace.
When I checked the details in disbelief, I learned that a guard had been bribed in the middle of the night. While the guard was distracted, Flora managed to slip away.
Escaping from such a heavily guarded prison must have taken incredible determination.
“Flora escaped…! I can’t believe she would go this far to get away.”
Hearing the report from my maid, I felt a mix of anger and fear.
Even after committing such crimes, she was still struggling to escape.
And with the underground merchant backing her, she could use any means necessary as long as she had money.
At the same time, an image of Leon flashed through my mind.
The crown prince and Flora had once fought and parted ways. But whenever things got worse, they would always use each other again.
If they reunited this time, it would surely cause major chaos within the empire.
“She will probably find Leon soon and join forces with him again…”
Thinking that, I hurried to Logan’s office.
When I told him what had happened, his expression turned serious, just as I expected.
“We failed to capture Flora. Considering the conspiracies in the kingdom, it’s only a matter of time before she searches for Leon. They will likely use each other again and make one final move.”
“Yes. As long as Flora is free, I can’t feel at ease. She has used poison before, and I can’t even imagine what dangerous method she’ll try next.”
Logan gave his orders in a low voice.
“If we leave them alone, they will not only hide in the empire but might also try to involve neighboring countries in their schemes. We must strengthen border security and issue a renewed order to capture Flora. We also need to investigate the underground merchants thoroughly.”
The aides in the room immediately began organizing the search and security measures.
Once again, I realized how persistent Flora and the crown prince were.
No matter how bad their reputation became, they would stop at nothing to achieve their goals.
Lydia was also working hard to gather information.
Late at night, she came to my room, looking exhausted, and whispered to me.
“Based on my investigation, Flora is almost certain to find Leon and team up with him again. There are rumors that they are both hiding in the empire and plotting something new.”
“I knew it… Just when we thought Flora was caught, now she’s escaped. And Leon is still missing. This is a complete mess.”
“I heard from the underground merchants that Flora is moving a lot of money. If things go well for her, she might even hire mercenaries to attack the imperial palace again.”
It would be risky for them to attack the palace directly. But after what happened with the poisoning incident, we couldn’t let our guard down.
I took Lydia’s hand and nodded firmly.
“Thank you, Lydia. This might be dangerous for you, but can I ask for your help a little longer? Your information network is our best chance to track their movements.”
“Of course. I’ll do everything I can to protect Celestia and the empire. I won’t let people like them win.”
Lydia smiled as she said this, and I felt grateful and reassured.
The danger was great, but now was the time for the kingdom and the empire to work together to stop them.
Flora was a woman who had always dreamed of a luxurious life in the royal palace.
Leon was a man who had lost his status as crown prince and had become dangerously obsessed with reclaiming power.
They weren’t working together for each other’s sake. They only cared about their own gain, which made them all the more willing to use dirty tactics.
“We will put an end to their schemes.”
I silently renewed my determination.
As long as Leon and Flora remained in the empire, true peace would never come.
We had to bring them out into the open as soon as possible.
The next morning, Logan sent additional news.
The imperial guards had strengthened security, and entry to the palace was now strictly controlled.
This meant my movements within the palace would also be restricted, but it was necessary for safety.
“If Flora and Leon try to make a final move and attack again… this time, we will defeat them for good.”
With that thought in mind, I let my maid help me prepare for the day and continued my official duties at court.
The wedding announcement had been postponed for now, but we were already making our next move to ensure the empire would never again be haunted by those two.
