I Was Told 'No One Would Miss You,' So I Became the Empress of Another Country - Episode 34
As security tightened in the empire, Lydia brought shocking news one evening—Leon and Flora were planning a direct attack on the imperial palace as their last resort.
She burst into my room, her face pale, breathing heavily as she spoke.
“It’s true… There’s talk that the two of them are planning a final strike. They’ve been buying weapons and gunpowder from black market dealers, and it seems they’re planning to attack the palace at night.”
“Even gunpowder…!”
I gasped, almost screaming.
If Leon and Flora had joined forces, they might go as far as blowing up the palace itself.
I never imagined they would go to such extremes.
I quickly rushed to report this to Logan, and Lydia came with me. We were immediately taken to his office.
We gathered with Logan and his closest advisors to discuss countermeasures.
“Leon and Flora attacking the palace… Are they seriously declaring war on the empire? I didn’t think they’d go this far, but it’s definitely possible.”
Logan frowned and traced his finger over a map.
It showed the palace’s security details in great detail.
Although the palace was already heavily guarded, if they used gunpowder, the damage could be worse than expected.
“If they plan to attack under the cover of night, they might use hidden passageways leading inside. It’s possible they bought information about them through the black market.”
I voiced my concerns, and Logan nodded deeply.
“According to old records, the palace does have a few secret escape routes. They’re rarely used, and very few people in the empire know about them. But if Leon and Flora used money to buy that knowledge…”
“Yes. We need to find out the exact date of their attack, or it will be too dangerous.”
I frowned and turned to Lydia.
She looked determined, as if she could still gather more information.
“I’ll dig deeper. If I can find where they’re making deals, I might learn the date of their attack.”
“Thank you, but please be careful. These people won’t hesitate to kill, and they’ll do anything for money.”
“I know. I’ll be careful.”
With that, Lydia left the room.
Logan then called in the imperial guards’ commanders, and we began refining our strategy.
I stayed in the room, offering advice based on my experiences in the kingdom.
“Leon will likely act together with Flora when sneaking into the palace. Flora has used poison before—there’s a high chance they’ll cause a disturbance first, then set fires to spread chaos. After that, they might plant explosives somewhere in the palace.”
“Hmm. If they manage to divide our forces, the defenders will be thrown into confusion.
They could use that moment to harm the emperor… or target Celestia. Either way, they might be aiming for a complete takeover of the palace.”
One of the imperial guards’ commanders clenched his fists in silent anger.
An attack on the palace, the very symbol of the empire, could never be allowed.
But if we didn’t stop them, innocent people would also be caught in the destruction.
“Once we find out the date, we should station troops in advance and ambush them. If we openly mobilize too many soldiers, they might notice and change their plans. The best way is to secretly position our forces and wait for them on the day of the attack.”
Logan nodded grimly at my suggestion.
“You’re right. We’ll strengthen night patrols so we’re ready at any moment. Still, the palace is huge—we can’t cover everything.”
“Then we should focus on the most likely entry points. If Lydia gets more information, we can concentrate our defenses there.”
And so, we began preparing for the final battle against Leon and Flora.
The imperial guards increased security, hiding soldiers in key areas like secret passageways, back gates, and storage rooms.
If they planned to attack under the cover of darkness, we would be ready for them.
“They will come… This time, we won’t let them escape.”
Fear and determination clashed within me.
Even after overcoming my past humiliations in the kingdom, Leon and Flora still haunted me like ghosts.
But now, the time had come to end this once and for all.
If they were ready to play their final card, we would turn it against them and completely trap them.
Once Lydia found out the date, the battle would begin.
As I walked through the silent palace halls in the dead of night, I held onto both my unease and my firm resolve.
