I Was Told 'No One Would Miss You,' So I Became the Empress of Another Country - Episode 38
Flora and Leon’s trial was held in public, and the verdict was announced in front of the Grand Cathedral in the Imperial Capital, Aradis.
As their crimes were listed one by one, their faces grew more and more desperate. By the end, they seemed to have lost their sanity.
Leon, still bound in chains, desperately begged for his life.
“I’m royalty…! I was the crown prince…! If I return to the kingdom, I can start over as many times as I want. My father will surely forgive me… Please, just don’t punish me…!”
But no one listened to his pleas.
He had entered the empire on his own and attempted an assassination. It was a serious international crime.
Reclaiming his title as crown prince was nothing but an impossible dream now.
Meanwhile, Flora, her hair disheveled, lashed out at Leon in front of the crowd.
“It’s all your fault! You betrayed me, and in the end, you didn’t even try to save me…!
You never told me it would end like this!”
“Shut up! You were nothing but a tool from the beginning!”
Their ugly exchange in public caused the spectators to either laugh mockingly or cry out in disgust.
Not a single person showed them sympathy.
Flora, who had once flaunted her status as the king’s mistress, now stood in filthy clothes, completely disgraced.
“In the end, both of them will be sentenced to forced labor, and their royal status will be completely revoked,” my aide whispered in a low voice.
Forced labor… In other words, they would be criminals, working under harsh conditions in the empire.
Leon, who was once the crown prince, could never have imagined such a fate.
But his crimes were that severe.
Watching from a distance, I clenched my emotions deep within me.
Seeing my former fiancé in such a pitiful state, exchanging insults with Flora, was almost painful to watch.
(This is the fate they brought upon themselves…)
In his final moments, Leon struggled violently, surrounded by the crowd, and weakly pleaded:
“Please… Celestia, come back to me…”
I said nothing and simply turned my back on him.
Even if he begged me to return now, there was nothing I could do.
And in the first place, I had not a single shred of desire to return to such a man.
Flora screamed at Leon, “You’re nothing but a coward!” as she, too, was dragged away by the guards.
As their desperate cries and insults filled the air, the people watched their miserable march. Some even applauded, celebrating the freedom I had finally won.
“Lady Celestia, I’m so glad you’re safe. We all knew how much they made you suffer.”
“Now you can finally live in peace in the empire.”
Hearing the murmurs of the crowd, a gentle warmth spread in my heart.
I nodded back at the many people watching, then left the scene with Logan.
Thus, the long-standing feud finally came to an end.
Freed from the endless chaos and fear, my life could finally move forward again.
(‘Even if you disappear, it won’t matter’—the nightmare that started with those words has finally ended.)
I suddenly felt a weight lift from my chest.
Leon’s final plea still echoed in my ears, but I knew better than anyone that it was a wish that would never be granted.
