I Was Told 'No One Would Miss You,' So I Became the Empress of Another Country - Episode 4
Emperor Logan of the Igleia Empire was coming to the Lowell Kingdom.
The news spread quickly throughout the royal capital, and the royal court was in a frenzy preparing for his arrival.
Even though peace had lasted for a long time, the empire was much larger than this kingdom and had overwhelming military power.
The banquet to welcome His Majesty the Emperor was truly a major event.
I was to attend the banquet with my father.
As a member of a duke’s family and as the daughter of the army’s supreme commander, it was impossible for me not to make an appearance.
When I entered the palace’s grand hall, it was already filled with beautiful decorations and luxurious furnishings, creating the perfect atmosphere for a “welcoming feast.”
Many nobles and high-ranking officials were gathering tonight, and it seemed that the empire had brought a large delegation as well.
In the distance, I saw Leon speaking with the king.
Leon had neatly trimmed golden hair and wore a finely embroidered outfit with the kingdom’s emblem stitched in gold on his chest.
At first glance, he looked dignified like a true crown prince, but knowing his arrogant personality, I found it hard to respect him.
The king must have been desperate to maintain the kingdom’s honor as he prepared to receive the emperor.
However, with Leon standing beside him, acting as arrogant as ever, those around them were surely nervous.
Then, a man with jet-black hair and golden eyes appeared, wearing a heavy ceremonial robe.
A grand cape symbolizing the empire hung from his shoulders, and those around him addressed him as “Your Majesty.”
There was no doubt—this man was Emperor Logan.
“Welcome, Your Majesty Logan of the Igleia Empire. It is a great honor to have you here in the Lowell Kingdom.”
The king took the lead in greeting him, but there was a slight tension in his voice.
Logan, maintaining a dignified presence, gave a slight nod in return.
“Thank you for your invitation. I sincerely wish for the prosperity of the Lowell Kingdom as well.”
His deep, calm voice echoed through the hall.
Hearing his composed tone, I felt a little relieved.
I had imagined the emperor to be a much more intimidating figure.
However, Leon looked at Logan as if evaluating him and smirked before speaking.
“I hear the empire has many skilled soldiers, but is that really true? Personally, I believe that our Lowell Kingdom is the strongest.”
Everyone in the hall froze.
Of all the things he could say, he chose to be this arrogant in front of the emperor…?
I felt the atmosphere tighten, and my stomach twisted with anxiety.
But Logan remained completely unfazed. Instead, he gave a small smile.
“I have heard that your soldiers are brave as well. That is something to be proud of. However, the purpose of a military force is not to show off strength, but to maintain peace.”
His polite yet firm words carried a hint of caution.
Leon frowned in dissatisfaction, but before he could say anything, the king quickly stepped in to smooth things over.
“Now, now, the banquet is ready. Please, let us move to the dining hall.”
The king was clearly trying to prevent further conflict.
The banquet began in a grand and lively manner, but I couldn’t stop thinking about Leon’s reckless remark.
Logan kept his expression neutral, but he must have been displeased.
Still, he seemed determined not to cause unnecessary tension.
Watching his composed demeanor, I felt a strange sense of reassurance.
As the banquet continued with cheerful conversation, I quietly moved to a less noticeable spot.
I had never been fond of large gatherings of nobles.
Besides, my current position as a duke’s daughter who had been rejected from her engagement made me self-conscious of the stares around me.
Even so, when I saw how Logan calmly brushed off Leon’s provocation, I felt a little lighter.
His dignified presence was a complete contrast to the arrogant crown prince.
