I, Who Was Criticized as the World's Weakest S-Rank Explorer, Am Actually the World's Strongest Explorer - Episode 104
Episode 104
(Note: Special for this chapter, dialogues through the telephone are in ‘….’)
As if responding to my presence, monsters appeared—but they weren’t a threat to me.
My goal was the 501st floor. I believed she was there, and I pressed forward.
“…Alright, let’s do this in one go.”
I gripped my sword tighter and focused. From here on, I would descend at inhuman speed.
Enhancing my physical abilities, I accelerated all at once. As I dashed down the stairs, I slayed any monsters I sensed nearby without stopping.
For monsters carrying three or four magic stones, I could cut them down without even looking back.
Soon, I reached the 101st floor and continued on from there.
I then arrived at the 111th floor. At this point, I could start using the shortcut.
‘Hey hey, I made it back safely. Mind if we start a video call?’
“Sure, no problem.”
Looking at the camera as prompted, I saw not only Saotome-san and Rin, but also Yuna and Kirishima-san.
“Huh? Everyone’s here?”
‘We heard you’d be back today, so we were preparing a meal. Ah! Onii-chan! We’re recording the video properly on our end. So try to keep the footage clear.’
‘We’re making sure there’s plenty of proof of your love for the Association. Don’t worry.’
“…Got it.”
Kirishima-san said that with a sarcastic smile.
…Now then.
Since everyone’s watching, I should hurry and move on.
Normally, progressing through a dungeon means descending stairs… but things change past the 101st floor.
There’s a massive pit. And jumping down it lets you take a shortcut.
So I floated my phone behind me using telekinesis to film from the rear while moving toward it.
Compared to what Kiryu-san does, it was a clumsy use of abilities. But this was my current limit.
Still, since it lets me film without using my hands, it wasn’t bad.
The scenery changed dramatically—from dense green forest to something else entirely.
What appeared before me was a massive cliff.
It stretched hundreds of meters high. And beyond it was a fog-covered abyss. Standing at the edge, I looked down for a moment.
It was more awe-inspiring than I expected.
‘…What an incredible view.’
I heard Kirishima-san’s voice. I was surprised too when I first saw it.
‘This really isn’t like a normal dungeon… You’d never see a cliff this deep under normal conditions.’
‘…I’ve never seen anything like it either.’
‘So what are you going to do, Haruto?’
“This cliff connects from the 111th floor all the way to the 301st.”
‘So?’
“If I jump, I can take the shortcut.”
‘Eh!?’
I wasn’t sure whose voice shouted in surprise.
But before checking, I grabbed my phone. I couldn’t rely on my still-unsteady telekinesis at this height.
Clutching it firmly in my left hand and ensuring my Bullet Sword was secured, I jumped off the cliff.
‘Kyaaaah!?’
A scream burst from the phone. It was as if the speaker themselves were falling.
Soaking in those voices behind me, I plunged downward.
“Kishaaah!”
A Demon Wyvern spotted me and came rushing in—probably mistaking me for prey.
But I had no intention of being eaten that easily.
I targeted the flying monster, known for its massive size and overwhelming power.
It had to be at least five meters long. Its entire body was covered in hard, black scales. Each one of them was gleaming like a blade.
‘Gyaaaaah! Onii-chan’s gonna get eaten!!’
More screams burst from the video call.
Its sharp red eyes glared at me. And then, it spread its massive wings.
The sound of them slicing through the dungeon air pierced my ears. The pressure of the wind stung my skin.
A deep growl echoed from its throat—and in the next moment, its jaws opened wide.
Rows of razor-sharp fangs. It looked like hell itself was opening its mouth.
Its gaping maw rushed at me. It was ready to swallow me whole.
“…Don’t get in my way.”
I muttered calmly, gathering magic into my right hand.
The usual feeling. I shaped the magic flowing deep inside me into a bullet.
Pale blue particles of light flickered in my palm.
They gathered and took form.
“This is the end.”
I loaded the bullet into the Bullet Sword and pulled the trigger.
A pale blue shot ripped through the air and flew straight toward the Demon Wyvern’s throat.
In the next instant—
A brilliant flash. And the massive creature reeled backward before vanishing completely.
Glad I could finish it in one shot.
The wind wrapped around my body.
The feeling of falling straight down.
It’s the kind of thrill… that’s hard to get enough of.
