I, Who Was Criticized as the World's Weakest S-Rank Explorer, Am Actually the World's Strongest Explorer - Episode 83
Episode 83
(Back to MC’s Perspective)
It was decided that Amelia would visit the Explorer Association for a formal greeting.
The reason I knew about this wasn’t just because it was being reported on various programs. But it was also because I was scheduled to accompany her that day.
Officially, it’s a courtesy visit from Amelia to the Japan’s Explorer Association.
However, the real purpose of the day is for me to have a discussion with the Association.
Amelia was ever eager for entertainment. She had remarked:
“It sounds interesting, so I’ll come along as well.”
While her presence was motivated by personal curiosity, it added a layer of credibility to the visit. It was far more than if I were to go alone.
I wasn’t sure what the Association thought of the situation. But if they were casually preparing for the visit, it was fine by me—it made things less stressful.
Although, they might be busy with preparations to host Amelia.
After all, the representative of WEA visiting in person is a major event for the Association.
For now, our objective for that day was clear:
We would firmly tell them to stop causing any more trouble for us.
To strengthen our position, there were various things to prepare before the day arrived.
One of these preparations was a video summarizing the excessive workload placed on Rin.
Currently, I was working with Rin and Yuna to prepare an exposé video.
The plan was to organize all the evidence we’d collected so far and release it as a video. It would expose the Association’s inner workings to the public.
We aimed to post the video shortly before our negotiation with the Association began.
At that point, we would utilize various media outlets to spread the video rapidly. It was to ensure it gained traction and cornered the Association.
Some regional programs had already shown interest in covering the issue. So the message would likely reach a considerable audience.
In my room, I adjusted the filming equipment.
I checked the position of the tripod, fine-tuned the angles of the lights, and ensured that the cables connected to my computer were neatly organized. I also tested the microphone to ensure it worked properly.
Recently, I’d been doing a lot of this kind of work. So I’d gotten quite efficient at it.
In this day and age, it’s amazing how much information can be disseminated beyond just television.
While thinking idly about these things, the door to the room quietly opened.
The faint creak of the hinges was accompanied by a sweet shampoo fragrance.
“Haruto…”
A soft voice called out, echoing gently in the room.
I looked up to see Rin standing hesitantly in the doorway.
She seemed a bit nervous. She was clutching the sleeve of her shirt between her fingers.
“C-can I come in now?”
“Yeah, it’s fine.”
With a small nod, Rin stepped cautiously into the room.
The door closed silently behind her as she scanned the space before approaching me.
Her footsteps were barely audible. And before I realized it, she was standing right next to me.
As expected of an S-Rank Explorer, her ability to suppress her presence was remarkable.
“What’s up?”
I asked, sensing she was gathering her thoughts. After a brief silence, she took a small breath and looked straight at me.
“I’ve decided. I’ll record the video myself.”
Her voice carried unwavering determination.
Her sudden declaration surprised me. I turned my full attention to her.
“Are you sure? You’ll probably get some harsh comments.”
“I don’t want to leave everything to you anymore. Otherwise… I won’t be able to stand beside you.”
Her serious gaze stopped me in my tracks.
“……You’re really okay with this?”
“Yeah. I realized I’m not alone. I don’t have to carry everything by myself anymore. So… I’ll give it my all.”
Rin said this with a faint smile.
She wasn’t someone who often expressed her emotions. But here she was, conveying her resolve with clarity and strength.
After all, Rin was an S-rank explorer.
Since she had made up her mind, there was no need to question her determination any further.
“…Alright. So, Rin will take charge of the video and convey everything that’s happened up until now, right?”
“Yeah. Leave it to me.”
………Honestly, this approach would probably better convey Rin’s true feelings.
I could express my anger to the viewers, sure.
But what really mattered here wasn’t anger—it was eliciting sympathy.
Sympathy would resonate with more viewers, winning their hearts and gaining more allies.
“The content of what needs to be said is already decided. So feel free to adjust the wording and add whatever you want to say in your own way.”
I handed Rin the script I had prepared.
As long as she conveyed how the Association had excessively forced her into dungeon explorations, the rest could come from her emotions.
Since it wasn’t a live broadcast, we could edit and refine the video as much as necessary.
I was about to fetch Yuna for the shoot when…..
“Rin, are you a little nervous?”
Yuna called out to Rin.
Her resolve seemed firm. But in front of the camera, she looked slightly tense.
“Y-yeah, just a little…”
…Well, that was understandable. Rin wasn’t used to this kind of filming.
She didn’t seem too concerned during television appearances. But having to think for herself and direct her own recording likely made her uneasy.
“Alright then, Director Yuna. Be strict, okay?”
“Got it! Leave it to me!”
Yuna flashed a big grin, giving a thumbs-up. Rin was looking a little flustered. She quickly spoke up.
“P-please, be gentle…”
The tension in the room softened. It created a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.
The recording began. At first, Rin stumbled over her words a few times. But as she got into the flow, there were no more issues.
Her expression was serious. And through the camera, her determination came across clearly.
I was confident this video would move many people.
All that was left was for me to confront the Association.
