I, who was reincarnated as the villain character in a game, was secretly enjoying my role as the villain while pulling off heroic moves behind the scenes. However, my actions were exposed to my fiancée, who absolutely despises me - Episode 30
Episode 30
(Back to Reis’ Perspective)
I had been handling battles on the third level, but I started to feel quite comfortable with fighting. It might be okay to proceed to the next area rather than staying on the third level. However, if I were to advance to the fourth level, my current equipment would be inadequate. The mithril knife is still fine, but the gladius feels barely sufficient for battles up to the third level.
Therefore, it’s necessary to strengthen my equipment. I covered myself with the hood attached to my cloak to conceal my appearance and headed towards the fourth level. Using magic-powered sonar, I conducted reconnaissance of the surroundings as I progressed.
I spotted some monsters… but I didn’t engage them yet. I continued forward without encountering the monsters and passed through the fourth level. In this forest, if you move while suppressing your presence, you can manage somehow.
Stepping into the fifth level, I could clearly sense a change in the surrounding atmosphere. From here on, if I were to be attacked first, there’s a possibility of being defeated in a single blow.
I need to stay vigilant. I conducted even more thorough reconnaissance of the surroundings and advanced further inside.
In this fifth level, dinosaur-like monsters appear, and just detecting them during reconnaissance exudes a considerable sense of intimidation.
I have no intention of facing them head-on. Eventually, I reached a spot in the fifth level. Upon reaching a treasure chest there, I promptly opened it.
Since there would be no one else who could come this far, there’s no risk of being caught opening it without permission.
Inside the treasure chest was a short sword. It was called “Dark Fang,” an S-rank weapon with the highest rarity.
The skills attached to Dark Fang were “Magic Power +25%” and “Agility +25%,” if I remember correctly.
In this game, there are two types of skills: passive skills and active skills.
Passive skills are for enhancing stats and such, and there are five levels: 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25%.
Active skills are some form of offensive skill. They range from useful to subtle.
Anyway, among the currently available options, Dark Fang could be considered the strongest weapon.
I stored the gladius in the item box created by spatial magic for the time being and switched to dual-wielding Dark Fang and the mithril knife.
Then, I used spatial magic to move back to the fourth level, almost as if fleeing from the fifth level.
Thanks to Dark Fang, my magical power seems to have been enhanced, so I feel like I can unleash even more spells.
Now, the fourth level. Let’s see how far I can go with my current equipment.
In the fourth level, I searched for monsters. There are a total of three types of monsters that appear here: Ultra Treant, Ultra Golem, and Ultra Minotaur.
…Each of them generally acts alone, but the Ultra Golem might be difficult for me to defeat with my current abilities. It has considerable defense, so close-range attacks won’t be very effective unless I’ve trained properly.
Using spatial magic would make it easier to defeat, but considering the fuel consumption, I can’t use it repeatedly. Plus, defeating enemies with spatial magic won’t help me improve my combat instincts.
Leveling up is important, but if I don’t train my combat instincts, I’ll be in trouble when it really matters.
I’ll mainly aim for the Ultra Treant and Ultra Minotaur.
I conducted reconnaissance and searched for monsters in the fourth level.
What I found was the Ultra Treant.
Since it camouflages itself as a tree, it’s easy to be caught off guard without reconnaissance. It looks completely like a tree at first glance, so I need to stay vigilant.
I gripped the mithril knife and Dark Fang, and kicked the ground. Approaching the Ultra Treant at once, it noticed me and released its camouflage.
At the same time, it swung its flexible, whip-like branches at me. It seems to be able to manipulate them quite freely, and even if I dodge once, it keeps coming after me.
However — I can dodge them now.
Thanks to Dark Fang, my body feels considerably lighter. Taking advantage of that, I dodged its attacks and closed the distance.
Closing in on its chest in one go, I swung my short swords.
