I, who was reincarnated as the villain character in a game, was secretly enjoying my role as the villain while pulling off heroic moves behind the scenes. However, my actions were exposed to my fiancée, who absolutely despises me - Episode 86
Episode 86
In this game, there are two main races: humans and demons. Currently, humans and demons have a very bad relationship, and in the northern continent, a major war could break out at any moment. That being said, on this continent, there’s such peace that people are oblivious to the existence of demons. The battles between humans and demons happen far to the north of here… although, some demons can fly over, and if they wanted to cross the sea, they could, but it’s rare for them to go to such lengths to attack this continent. There’s not much benefit for the demons to take over this continent. Even though our country provides support in terms of supplies, there’s still a sense of detachment from the situation.
In this game, the protagonist can choose to side with either the humans or the demons. Most players choose the human side first and then the demon side on their second playthrough. This is because, by playing the human storyline, they learn that the protagonist is a half-blood, born between a hero and a demon king.
…And then there’s the third playthrough. After clearing both routes, the story will branch if you leave it for 30 seconds without selecting either of the initial options. In this route, a woman named Seirin appears. In the original storyline, the story progresses from the point where Suzaku rescues Seirin, who has arrived in the village… but it seems this event is happening earlier than planned.
Seirin is the protagonist’s twin sister, also born between the hero and the demon king. In other words, they are siblings who were separated at birth. Officially, Seirin is set as the younger sister, but she believes herself to be the older one. Seirin has strong demon blood and remained in the demon kingdom with the demon king, while the protagonist came to this continent with their hero mother.
Given this background, Seirin comes to this continent to find Suzaku and escape from the demons. This route, however, has many bad endings. The player frequently faces demon attacks with little opportunity to level up Suzaku, relying on the player’s skill to fend them off.
Both Suzaku and Seirin possess the blood of demons and heroes, making them feared by both humans and demons, so the party is mostly just the two of them. Near the story’s end, as the two struggle to survive, Suzaku gets severely injured protecting Seirin. Believing Suzaku is dead, Seirin’s demon power goes out of control, and she awakens as the great demon king who destroys both humans and demons.
Suzaku then goes to fight Seirin to save her, but there’s no option other than to kill her. This scene frustrated all players, who thought they might have missed a key event, but no matter what, there is no scene where both are saved. Suzaku succeeds in stopping Seirin, but then Suzaku becomes a feared figure by both humans and demons and gets attacked by them.
…And then, the ending. It is unclear whether Suzaku destroyed both humans and demons, but the last scene shows a wasteland, leading players to believe that might be the case.
When siding with either humans or demons, Seirin has already been modified by demons into a killing machine and serves as a mid-boss. Players first see Seirin’s rampage state here, making it an unpleasant experience.
So, while Suzaku starts the worst storyline, it is also the only route where Seirin still survives in a safe state.
…Now, the question is what to do next. The demons have a way to locate Seirin and attack repeatedly. These enemies are incredibly strong… The difficulty suddenly ramps up like a death game, causing many players to give up and just follow the story through video sites.
The day after the banquet ended. While thinking about what to do next, I was waiting for Bright’s subordinates to bring Suzaku and Seirin.
“Lord Reis!”
In a panicked voice, Zangell burst into the room. I had instructed Zangell to wait by the Validor teleportation stone and bring Suzaku and Seirin, but what happened?
“What is it?”
“Endria is currently under attack by a large number of monsters…!”
“What…?”
Hearing Zangell’s words, I immediately stood up. I recalled several story events, but was there one where monsters attacked…?
