I, who was reincarnated as the villain character in a game, was secretly enjoying my role as the villain while pulling off heroic moves behind the scenes. However, my actions were exposed to my fiancée, who absolutely despises me - Episode 93
Episode 93
“……I’m heading over there!”
“Hey, hey, how are we supposed to stop its attacks!?”
As Serin and Suzaku’s voices echoed, Lady Fylia readied her sword to meet the enemy. Fortunately, since it was moving in a straight line, aiming was easy. I activated my spatial magic. Although it seemed to notice me right away, it was too late. Using spatial magic, I sliced its body in half.
“Gyiiiiiiii!?”
With a loud scream, it thrashed its body violently from side to side. As its body slowly disappeared, only the drop items remained. It seems that spatial magic’s cutting attack also counts as a magic attack.
“……To take down such a monster in one strike.”
Serin’s ability to detect magic must be quite high, probably because of her strong demon lineage. With the monster defeated, Suzaku sat down on the spot, relieved.
“For now… we seem to be safe?”
“Yes, it seems so. …I’m sorry for all the trouble we’ve caused. Allow me to introduce myself properly. I am Reis Validor, the lord of this Validor territory. And this here is――”
“I am Fylia, the third princess of this country. I apologize for the trouble we have caused you both in this matter.”
Lady Fylia bowed her head deeply. I hurriedly bowed my head as well, causing Suzaku and Serin to become somewhat flustered. Well, I suppose that’s to be expected. Nobles generally don’t bow their heads so clearly, even if they’re at fault. It’s a matter of face, trivial as it may seem. Personally, I wouldn’t mind bowing my head as much as needed, even licking someone’s boots if it meant forgiveness. But doing so might cause my subordinates to be looked down upon, so I refrain from such actions.
Sensing that Lady Fylia had raised her head, I lifted mine as well.
“In order to save you both this time, Reis acted swiftly. Of course, I will later relay to Bright, who was here, to take some form of action. But for now, could you please listen to what Reis has to say?”
Thank you, Lady Fylia. Suzaku shook his head with a smile.
“I’m fine, really. In fact, I thought knocking out the soldiers might have been more problematic…”
“No, it’s alright. To tell the truth, my family had been consulted by Suzaku’s mother a long time ago. She asked that we help Suzaku and Serin should anything happen to either of you.”
This is a lie, but there’s no one left to prove otherwise. Suzaku and Serin exchanged surprised glances at my words. Well, that’s understandable.
“…So, Reis will help us…?”
“Yes, that’s right. I know about your birth circumstances as well… only I do.”
“Wait, you mean we—!”
“You idiot brother…!”
Serin covered Suzaku’s mouth, holding him down. What a fool! Suzaku has a habit of speaking his mind immediately. While this can sometimes be beneficial, it can also lead to problems. I deliberately didn’t clarify this point because Lady Fylia is present. Serin, perceptive as she is, seemed to understand that only I knew this fact and quickly restrained Suzaku.
I don’t know what Lady Fylia’s thoughts are regarding demons, but it’s a fact that people in this world generally see demons as enemies. If we were to turn Lady Fylia into an enemy, who knows what might happen, so it’s best to stay quiet. Lady Fylia tilted her head in confusion but refrained from asking further questions.
“For now, there’s no point in staying here, so let’s get out of here. Suzaku and Serin, will you come with me?”
“I’m fine with tagging along. Running away forever would be tough.”
“Me too… for now, I think we should listen.”
We managed to clear the first hurdle.
Although no more monsters would appear in the underground waterways, staying too long might cause the stench to cling to the back of our noses. While I was confident Zangell and the others would be fine, I wanted to check on the situation above.
But the moment I used spatial magic to connect to the mansion, I sensed a disturbing surge of magical power. Simultaneously, a dark shadow rushed straight at us—aiming at Lady Fylia.
I quickly stepped in between and swung my dagger. A metallic clang echoed as I looked to see a reaper swinging its scythe. It must be one of those that were in the sky. I parried the attack and swung my dagger to cut through its body, but the reaper evaded my strike, floating gracefully.
The reaper kept a fixed distance, staring intently at us. Further behind, from where the Grand Wraith had appeared, several more reapers emerged.
(Note: I changed Grandleis to Grand Wraith. It seems I made a mistake)
