I Woke Up And Found Myself Married - Chapter 30
“Why can’t I watch her try on the dress?!”
The bridal boutique’s lounge area was decorated like a dream. Lush roses wrapped around the soft sofas, and as Yu Wei sipped her lemon water, she played with the white veil hanging from the ceiling while keeping her eyes fixed on the fitting room door, full of resentment.
“If you see it now, there won’t be any surprise at the wedding,” the shop assistant said patiently, bringing over a plate of desserts. “Besides, Miss Yu, you’ll be trying on dresses too, right?”
“Why would I be trying one on?!”
Yu Wei was stunned and asked in surprise.
“Why wouldn’t you?” The assistant was equally surprised, flipping through her folder—yep, the appointment was for these two getting married.
“Um, I’m an A. Do I wear a wedding dress too?” After her initial shock, Yu Wei’s eyes sparkled. The veil in her hand suddenly felt softer. Of course, she wanted to see Ji Fuyi in a wedding dress. But… if they both wore dresses… that’d be amazing.
“We recommend attire based on one’s primary gender identity,” the assistant said with a bright smile. “If you don’t want to wear a gown, we also have lots of tuxedos—guaranteed to please.”
“I’ll wear a dress,” Yu Wei grinned and pointed at the closed fitting room door. “I want to try the same style she’s wearing, or a matching couple’s design.”
The assistant: “……”
The customer is always right. Without hesitation, the assistant stood up and led Yu Wei to the bridal section.
Standing among a dreamy sea of gowns, Yu Wei looked slightly lost.
The assistant quickly brought over three dresses. “These all match Miss Ji’s style. Please try them on.”
Yu Wei followed the assistant into the fitting room. Once she had the gown on, she didn’t dare look at herself in the mirror. She just kept her head down, staring at the cascading white fabric pooling on the floor—layer upon layer of stunning elegance.
“She’s wearing this one too?”
The assistant nodded. “Yes. Miss Ji’s wearing a different cut from the same collection—hers is backless, yours is the off-shoulder version.”
Backless—
Yu Wei’s breath caught. Her mind instantly conjured the image: Ji Fuyi surrounded by white satin, her smooth back exposed, the elegant lines of her butterfly-shaped shoulder blades resembling wings, perfectly outlined.
Just as Yu Wei was immersed in that image, her phone buzzed.
She picked it up and saw a message from Ji Fuyi.
It was a photo.
The thumbnail showed a blur of white and gold. Yu Wei held her breath—was it what she thought?
She opened the photo, her hand trembling.
Then, her breath truly hitched.
In the picture stood Ji Fuyi in her wedding dress.
The gown was from the same collection as Yu Wei’s. The pearl-white fabric outlined her upper body, revealing her smooth shoulders. The skirt was a layered bloom of soft tulle that spilled onto the floor, blending with the veil to create a dreamy, ethereal effect.
It was a back view. Yu Wei couldn’t even see her face. But just those shoulder blades were enough to make her mouth go dry.
The assistant wisely kept silent. Only after Yu Wei had stared at the photo did she slowly lift her gaze and look into the mirror.
If Ji Fuyi in that gown was soft and ethereal, Yu Wei wearing the matching one brought a different energy.
The dress outlined her long neck and elegant collarbones, tracing her curves all the way down. The floral layers had a certain distant coldness, and the mid-length veil softened her cool beauty just a bit.
Yu Wei asked the assistant to take a photo and sent it to Ji Fuyi.
Ji Fuyi replied quickly: You look beautiful ^_^
Before Yu Wei could react, the second message arrived.
Ji Fuyi: We match perfectly.
Yu Wei stared at the four words, nearly throwing her phone. Her heart was pounding wildly.
That day, they tried on several wedding dresses, sharing photos with each other of every look.
Yu Wei saved them all, even set them as her phone wallpaper.
As the wedding day drew closer, every time she saw her screen, she couldn’t help smiling foolishly—dreaming of how she’d take even more beautiful photos of Ji Fuyi on their wedding day, and treasure them in her heart forever.
Three days before the wedding, Zhan Mengmeng knocked on Yu Wei’s door. As soon as it opened, she tossed her a small box, collapsed onto the couch, and said, “Here’s the ring you wanted.”
Yu Wei leapt up and caught it.
When she opened it, the platinum setting and square-cut pink diamond shimmered under the sunlight.
“Yes! This is it!” Yu Wei cheered. “Perfect!”
“What, you’re actually going to propose?” Zhan Mengmeng asked, chewing on her ice cream.
Yu Wei shut the box and smiled. “The wedding’s almost here. Your invitation should’ve arrived at the hotel.”
Zhan Mengmeng stared, nearly dropping her dessert. “What did you just say?”
“I’m getting married. Day after tomorrow.”
“Wait, when did you even get a girlfriend?!”
“She’s not a girlfriend,” Yu Wei scratched her head shyly. “She’s my fiancée.”
“Ohhh—”
Zhan Mengmeng drawled, giving her a knowing look. “Arranged marriage turned love? Didn’t peg you for the trendy type.”
Yu Wei tossed a pillow at her and ignored the jab.
Even after all her mental preparation, Yu Wei felt incredibly nervous on the big day.
After putting on her gown, everything still felt surreal.
She couldn’t see Ji Fuyi before the ceremony, so she messaged her: How are you feeling? Nervous?
No reply.
So she quickly followed up with another: I feel so nervous.
The chat box on Ji Fuyi’s side showed “typing…” but no message came. Yu Wei grew anxious.
The dressing room was chaotic. Stylists moved about adjusting her hair. Her mother, eyes brimming with tears, kept holding relatives’ hands, saying how she’d finally made it through—leaving Yu Wei with a pounding headache.
“Still on your phone?” her mother scolded, slapping her hand gently. “Hurry up. Don’t make Miss Ji wait.”
The words hit Yu Wei like a splash of cold water. Miss Ji. That made it sound like they were strangers.
“She’s about to be my wife. Don’t call her that,” Yu Wei murmured. “It feels distant. Hurts.”
Her mother noticed her expression and quickly changed how she addressed her.
Once makeup was done, Yu Wei couldn’t help but stand at the window and look outside.
The sky was impossibly blue—not a single cloud in sight, only a few fluffy cotton-like tufts drifting lazily overhead. They perfectly matched the cotton candy decorations set up for the wedding.
Yu Wei had overseen every detail of the event. She knew the entire plan by heart, but seeing it all come to life made her heart race with excitement.
Especially because this wasn’t just any wedding.
It was her wedding. Their wedding.
Her eyes shifted to a small villa nearby. In that red-brick building, Ji Fuyi was putting on her dress, getting her makeup done—waiting to board a pumpkin carriage and become her bride.
The morning air was crisp. The sunlight, like silk brocade, coated the grass in gold.
The emerald lawn stretched out under a long red carpet, laid from the entrance all the way to the villa. Roses and fluffy white candy decorations flanked the aisle. The dessert table was piled high with cake towers and colorful treats.
As Yu Wei admired the view, a flower girl walked in and asked timidly, “Sister, can we go now?”
Her mother nodded and set her phone aside. “Time to head down. Fuyi’s already in the carriage.”
Yu Wei’s nerves spiked. Her limbs went stiff—she didn’t even know how to walk properly anymore.
In the flower-ringed center of the lawn, the officiant was already waiting. Seeing Yu Wei’s anxious face, they laughed softly. “So nervous, Miss Yu? Careful not to step on your dress.”
Yu Wei giggled, and the tension eased slightly. But her eyes were still locked on the far end of the aisle—like a knight waiting for her princess to arrive in a silver pumpkin carriage.
Every second dragged on endlessly.
Finally, the carriage arrived.
Ji Fuyi sat inside, her expression calm as she looked out the window. Her bride stood at the end of the aisle, smiling brightly.
Beside her, Father Ji sneered, “What’s with the expression? Everyone knows how giddy you two were picking out dresses and rings.”
“Don’t trouble yourself,” Ji Fuyi said coolly, but her lips twitched into a smile when she saw Yu Wei’s radiant grin in the distance.
“Don’t trouble me? Look at you, already drooling before the ceremony even starts. I can’t imagine how whipped you’ll be after the wedding,” Father Ji scoffed. “Look at you—so desperate.”
Ji Fuyi shot him a glance, unwilling to say another word. This was probably the last five minutes she’d ever have to deal with him. After this, whatever he said or did, she wouldn’t have to respond.
The carriage stopped at the carpet. Ji Fuyi took her father’s arm and stepped into the glowing sunlight. Not far away, her little one was smiling so brilliantly.
As the wedding march played, her father walked her down the aisle and leaned in to whisper:
“If I’d known you were an Omega, I would’ve married you off to someone richer.”
His voice was quiet, but the venom beneath it was sharp—a blade plunging straight into Ji Fuyi’s heart.
She kept walking down the aisle, but the world tilted. All the surrounding sounds faded into a distant hum, thunder rumbling endlessly in her ears.
Her knees gave out slightly, and searing pain radiated up from her abdomen—
