I Woke Up And Found Myself Married - Chapter 31
Ji Fuyi couldn’t hear the tune of the wedding march clearly. Every step she took felt like walking on knife blades—waves of sharp pain attacked her relentlessly, nearly bringing her to her knees on the red carpet.
“So fragile?” her father sneered, feeling the sudden increase in weight on his arm. Ji Fuyi seemed to have leaned her entire body weight against him. He couldn’t help but mock her again.
Ji Fuyi kept her gaze fixed straight ahead. She endured the pain and maintained a perfect smile, walking forward step by step. It felt as if she were the little mermaid walking on sea foam. In her heart, she kept reminding herself that this was her wedding with Yu Wei. Everyone was watching—watching her walk down the aisle, toward Yu Wei, toward her happiness.
She couldn’t make a mistake. She couldn’t become a laughingstock. She couldn’t disappoint Yu Wei.
Golden sunlight bathed the air in a gentle glow. The grass beneath her feet was vibrant with life. A thin layer of white veil and vivid roses decorated everything in the appearance of happiness.
Only the person beside her—the one walking her down the aisle and handing her over to the one she loved—her biological father, was using cutting words to wound her. His cruelty made her dizzy, her entire body trembling slightly.
Amid the joyful notes of the wedding march, Ji Fuyi said coldly, “Shut up.”
Father Ji’s lips curled into a smirk. He was dressed sharply in a tailored suit, his hair meticulously combed, and his Italian handmade leather shoes polished to a shine. To any onlooker, he looked like a model elite. But at his daughter’s wedding, he let go of her arm before they even reached the end of the aisle.
With a light push to her lower back, he said, “Get lost.”
Ji Fuyi lost her balance from the sudden loss of support and the unexpected shove. She stumbled forward, falling straight into Yu Wei’s arms.
At the end of the aisle, Yu Wei saw Ji Fuyi lurch toward her. Instinctively, she stepped forward and wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her into her embrace. As she looked down into Ji Fuyi’s eyes, for a moment, all her nerves vanished.
Just a moment ago, standing on the red carpet, Yu Wei had felt like she was floating, an uncontrollable urge rising within her to run to Ji Fuyi. Her back was ramrod straight, and the hand hidden beneath her bouquet was clenched into a tight fist. It took all her strength to remain where she was.
Then Ji Fuyi leapt into her arms.
Just like the beginning of every fairytale—the princess escapes from the dragon and throws herself into the arms of the knight.
Yu Wei’s mind went blank. Holding Ji Fuyi’s waist, she stared into her eyes, momentarily speechless.
The sunlight was dazzling and tender. Leaves rustled in the breeze. The air was filled with the scent of flowers and greenery. A soft wind lifted their hair, brushing against their veils. Their wedding gowns flowed and overlapped like two lonely islands meeting by fate.
Applause erupted around them. Guests leaned forward from their white wooden chairs, whispering among themselves.
“I heard this was just a business marriage, but they look so compatible.”
“Yeah, it actually feels kind of sweet. I’ve never seen this Ji family daughter before. I heard she’s a big celebrity?”
“That’s because you’re out of the loop—she’s already won multiple international awards.”
“She’s so famous, and the Ji family kept her hidden?”
“I heard she’s not well-liked in the main house… Look where her mother is sitting…”
The speaker subtly turned their head. In a corner, Mother Ji sat with a handkerchief pressed to her mouth, pretending to be tearfully moved.
Yu Wei couldn’t hear a single word from the crowd.
Her eyes saw only Ji Fuyi.
Her golden hair was braided, gently veiled by lace. A touch of crimson graced her lips. One look, and Yu Wei felt her heart race and her cheeks flush.
Her wife.
Her Ji Fuyi.
After being pulled into Yu Wei’s embrace, Ji Fuyi felt slightly better.
The excruciating pain had lessened. Her head still felt dizzy, golden stars dancing before her eyes, but at least she could now stand.
“Weiwei…” she murmured, frowning, “It really hurts.”
Yu Wei panicked. She loosened her hold and asked, “Did I hug you too tightly? I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to—it’s just that you looked so beautiful coming at me…”
“It’s not that,” Ji Fuyi interrupted, closing her eyes to steady herself. “My father pushed me just now.”
The expression on Yu Wei’s face instantly turned to fury.
Ji Fuyi tugged lightly on her sleeve and whispered, “We’ll deal with it after the ceremony.”
The officiant, smiling at their embrace, gave a symbolic cough and said, “What a truly enviable couple.”
Another round of applause came from the audience.
Yu Wei released Ji Fuyi’s waist and let her take her arm for support, making it easier for her to stand.
The officiant smiled and turned to them, asking,
“Miss Yu, do you take Miss Ji to be your lawful wife, to have and to hold, for richer or poorer, in sunshine or storm, from this day forward, never to part?”
Yu Wei looked into Ji Fuyi’s eyes and answered softly, “I do.”
The officiant then turned to Ji Fuyi and asked, “Miss Ji, do you take Miss Yu to be your lawful wife, to have and to hold, for richer or poorer, in sunshine or storm, from this day forward, never to part?”
Ji Fuyi’s lips curved gently. “I do.”
Under the sunlight, Ji Fuyi and Yu Wei exchanged their vows.
“Please place the rings on each other’s fingers.”
Yu Wei took Ji Fuyi’s hand and, with a slight curtsey, kissed the back of it.
The kiss was featherlight, and against the backdrop of her wedding dress, it carried a touch of reverence.
Ji Fuyi gazed at Yu Wei, who smiled tenderly and opened the ring box in front of her.
Nestled in champagne-colored velvet sat a sparkling pink round diamond. In the sunlight, it gleamed so brightly that it seemed to outshine the sun itself.
It was immediately obvious that this wasn’t some off-the-shelf ring. The soft pink gem was as clear as a lake, cradled by a floral-shaped setting—absolutely stunning.
Ji Fuyi was briefly stunned. This wasn’t the ring they had picked together.
Yu Wei took her hand and slipped the ring onto her finger, flashing her a mischievous smile.
“Only the best is worthy of you.”
Ji Fuyi suddenly remembered how disappointed Yu Wei had looked that day when they went to choose rings—when she had left empty-handed. Everything became clear.
Yu Wei must have secretly bought this ring afterward.
That day, she had been too careless.
With guilt weighing on her, Ji Fuyi opened her own ring box.
The simple band they had chosen together was nowhere to be seen. Instead, it was a sky-blue square-cut diamond ring.
A perfect match to the one she now wore.
The square diamond, framed by delicate floral accents, looked elegant and dignified.
Ji Fuyi smiled faintly. She took Yu Wei’s hand and slipped the ring onto her finger.
This little one—just how much had she done behind her back?
Her abdomen still throbbed faintly, but that unbearable pain was slowly fading away.
The soft scent of mint lingered around her, soothing and calming.
The officiant read a few poetic lines describing how they had come to know each other.
Yu Wei held Ji Fuyi’s hand, pretending to listen attentively. In truth, everyone at the wedding knew it was a farce.
This was just a contract marriage.
And their real story was something no one here would ever know.
After the reading, it was time for the photo session.
Guests were touching up their makeup, getting ready to take photos with the brides. Before they could approach, Ji Fuyi whispered to Yu Wei, “Can I rest early?”
Yu Wei nodded, worry in her voice. “Still hurting?”
She glanced subtly toward Father Ji’s seat. The man was smiling and chatting with the guests, looking proud and satisfied—no sign at all that he had just shoved his own daughter moments ago.
Yu Wei clenched her jaw. Earlier, when Father Ji and Mother Ji deliberately arrived late to assert dominance, she hadn’t cared. She had dealt with enough pompous people to be unfazed.
But to push his daughter at her own wedding?
And worse—Ji Fuyi was pregnant?!
What if something had happened…
Yu Wei felt her molars grind. She didn’t even want to think about it.
Just one misstep, and this joyous wedding could’ve turned into a tragedy.
She held Ji Fuyi’s hand tightly and whispered, “Let’s go to the lounge.”
She supported Ji Fuyi into the lounge, helped her sit on the sofa, poured her a glass of warm water, and gently massaged her lower back.
Ji Fuyi smiled faintly, clearly drained. “I’m fine.”
“Okay,” Yu Wei murmured, pressing a kiss to her cheek. “Everything’s going to be fine.”
While Ji Fuyi rested with her eyes closed, Yu Wei sent a message to her parents.
“We won’t join the next part of the ceremony. Heading to the hospital.”
Her father quickly called back, voice lowered. “What happened?”
Yu Wei glanced at Ji Fuyi and replied, “Actually… Fuyi is already pregnant. She’s not feeling well. We want to get her checked out.”
Father Yu nearly dropped his phone. Thinking he’d misheard, he asked, “What? Pregnant?!”
“Yes,” Yu Wei said quietly. “Just recently.”
Father Yu didn’t press for details. “Is she suddenly feeling unwell because of the wedding?”
Yu Wei stood by the window and looked out at the crowd on the lawn, coldly replying, “Her father pushed her during the walk down the aisle.”
Silence. Only the sound of Father Yu’s breathing came through the phone.
“I’m reminding you—your in-law is not a good person,” Yu Wei said, taking a deep breath. “Don’t believe a single word he says.”
Father Yu stayed silent for a while, recalling Father Ji’s slick talk earlier, boasting about big upcoming projects, his confidence hiding something just beneath the surface.
“He has a decent reputation in the industry. And the Ji family’s been around for generations—there must be some foundation…”
Yu Wei cut him off. “Remember how Fuyi suddenly fell into my arms on the red carpet?”
“…Yes?”
“That wasn’t planned. He pushed her.”
Father Yu fell silent again. Then Yu Wei continued, “No matter how successful he seems, if he can do something like that to his own daughter, what kind of man is he? If you do business with him, I doubt you’ll get the results you’re hoping for. I won’t say more—you’ve built an empire, Dad, so I trust you know how to judge people.”
“…Understood.” Father Yu picked up a glass of wine and began walking toward Father Ji. “I get it.”
Yu Wei ended the call, eyes fixed on the small figure of Father Ji in the distance.
Silently, she vowed to herself:
—I will never forgive you.
