I Woke Up And Found Myself Married - Chapter 33
“Mm?”
Yu Wei suddenly looked up, still holding the brochure in her hand, looking a little surprised—and frankly, a little silly.
“The baby? What do you mean?”
It seemed like she hadn’t quite understood what I was saying. Ji Fuyi sighed softly.
She asked more directly, “Are we keeping the baby or not?”
The afternoon light was gentle, streaming through the glass window and casting a golden glow over Ji Fuyi’s blond hair. Even her pale skin looked more radiant in the sunlight.
Yu Wei stared at her blankly, as if she still didn’t quite get what she meant. After a moment, she scratched her head, looking a bit confused.
“Uh… keeping the baby or not…”
Seeing her expression and actions, Ji Fuyi began to feel uneasy. It was as if Yu Wei hadn’t even registered that they were having a child. Wasn’t that strange? If Yu Wei truly hadn’t processed it, maybe… maybe they shouldn’t keep the child?
Her thoughts spiraled. Then Yu Wei quickly waved her hand in front of her eyes.
“No, don’t overthink it. Of course I know we’re having a baby,” she leaned closer and gently touched Ji Fuyi’s lower abdomen, smiling a little foolishly. “It’s right here.”
Ji Fuyi didn’t quite know how to respond to that.
“I think whether we keep the baby or not should be up to you,” Yu Wei looked her in the eyes, speaking seriously. “Of course I hope we keep it. After all… it’s our baby.”
“But the doctor said it, right? No matter what we decide, it’ll be a big strain on your body.”
Yu Wei slowly slid her hand over and gently held Ji Fuyi’s.
Ji Fuyi looked at her, and for a moment, felt warmth rising in her chest.
The sun was nearly setting now, and the light no longer burned—it only left behind a soft golden hue.
Ji Fuyi slowly asked:
“Why are you only thinking about me? What if I say I don’t want it?”
“Then we don’t,” Yu Wei answered gently. “You’re more important than the baby.”
She gave her hand a soft squeeze and smiled, “Besides, the baby’s not even born yet.”
“But… what do you think?” Yu Wei asked.
“I’m still thinking,” Ji Fuyi’s gaze became firm. “I don’t want to make a hasty decision just because of my physical condition.”
“Raising a child is a complicated thing. I don’t want to bring her into this world before I’m truly ready. I’m afraid I’ll…”
“…be a bad mother,” she whispered.
“You’ve got me,” Yu Wei said, kissing her on the cheek. “I’ll raise her with you.”
Yu Wei looked at her with sparkling eyes. When Ji Fuyi spoke those words, it felt like some of that distant, untouchable aura finally faded.
She became someone Yu Wei could truly reach.
“I understand.”
Ji Fuyi nodded and took the brochure from her hands.
“I’ll think about it carefully.”
She flipped through the brochure, but didn’t really read the content. Colorful pages introduced the beauty of Summer Island, but they didn’t capture her attention at all.
Ji Fuyi looked down at Yu Wei’s hand still holding hers—slender, fair, soft fingers wrapped around long joints. They looked delicate, but held a quiet strength.
She asked herself again: Do I really like Yu Wei?
What if, when she gives birth, all she feels for Yu Wei is just fondness? Then what?
The thought flitted through her mind, but she quickly pushed it away.
For her, loving someone might be difficult—but not impossible.
Besides, she was truly drawn to the way Yu Wei made her feel.
Yu Wei made her feel warm, safe, like sunlight breaking through the coldest winter.
Maybe… it was just a matter of time.
Ji Fuyi set her thoughts aside and held up the brochure in front of Yu Wei’s face with a smile.
“Wanna go on a vacation?”
“Yes, yes, yes! Of course!” Yu Wei instantly lit up. She grabbed the brochure and started introducing it excitedly. “I just looked through it—it’s amazing! The bluest ocean in the world, white sandy beaches, tons of coconut trees and seashells everywhere… It’s the perfect getaway…”
She held the brochure up for Ji Fuyi to see, then lowered her head to hide the fleeting shadow in her eyes.
“And we could really use the break,” she added quietly.
Yu Wei said, “I don’t think staying in B City is good for us right now.”
After what happened at the wedding, gossip would be unavoidable.
Ji Fuyi’s health couldn’t handle that kind of stress.
“Mm,” Ji Fuyi nodded, glancing at the brochure’s photos. “Alright. Let’s go on vacation.”
…
The next day.
The wedding banquet was held at noon. Since Ji Fuyi and Yu Wei had gone straight to the hospital after the ceremony yesterday, they had to make an appearance today to thank their guests.
The venue had changed to a well-known restaurant in the city famous for hosting weddings. The entire floor had been reserved, and guests from both families were already arriving.
Ji Fuyi and Yu Wei arrived on time, dressed and styled to match, their couple look unmistakable.
The moment they entered, hand in hand, the entire banquet hall fell silent. Everyone turned their eyes toward them.
“The brides are here. The one on the left is Yu family’s youngest, the one with black hair. The blonde one is from the Ji family—she’s the actress. No wonder she dyed her hair such a color…” One gossiping lady quickly explained to her table.
“Blonde’s in trend now—it suits her. Looks great, actually.”
A young person nearby was staring at Ji Fuyi, completely distracted.
Someone came up to them and said, “Well well, aren’t you two the brides of the hour? Where’d you disappear to yesterday? The whole place was in chaos after the ceremony. The stars of the show were nowhere to be found…”
Yu Wei smiled politely and clinked glasses with the person. “There was a personal matter.”
“One sentence covers everything? It was your wedding! Young people these days, no sense of propriety,” the woman huffed.
Dressed in flashy clothes, she looked them up and down before adding, “You gave us all a scare yesterday. Thought something serious happened.”
Yu Wei instantly felt a wave of irritation.
What do you mean “thought” something happened? Something did happen. You just don’t know yet. Her own father pushed her wife on the red carpet—who’d believe that if she said it out loud?
She clenched Ji Fuyi’s hand tighter. Ji Fuyi, understanding her thoughts, tightened her grip in return.
Yu Wei glanced around and quickly found the person she was looking for—her senior from university, now a rising star in the media industry.
Standing by the buffet, chatting with someone and holding a drink, Song Zhilin looked as radiant as ever.
Yu Wei led Ji Fuyi over and greeted her with a smile. “Long time no see, Senior!”
“Wow, it’s Weiwei!” Song Zhilin turned and beamed at them. “And this must be Miss Ji? I’ve heard so much about you—you’re even more stunning in person!”
Ji Fuyi chuckled, a little embarrassed.
Yu Wei pouted and raised her hand to show their wedding rings. “Fuyi is my wife, okay? Don’t even think about it, you forever-single Alpha!”
“Oh come on, you’re jealous already? Don’t worry,” Song Zhilin patted her on the shoulder, laughing. “I’m just a fangirl.”
“Miss Ji, if I get the chance, please sign something for me?” Song Zhilin winked. “I’ve seen all your films.”
“You flatter me. Everyone in the industry knows your name,” Ji Fuyi replied warmly. “I’d be happy to sign whatever you like.”
Seeing them get along so easily, Yu Wei relaxed a bit. She knew she would need Song Zhilin’s help for the situation with Ji’s father.
After exchanging contacts, Yu Wei and Ji Fuyi left—but were quickly surrounded by a group of relatives they’d seen yesterday.
Each one held a glass and raised it toward them.
“You disappeared after the ceremony yesterday. You owe us three drinks!”
“Sorry, something came up,” Yu Wei smiled as she downed her drink, then took Ji Fuyi’s glass and drank that too. “Please enjoy yourselves today.”
“We heard you’re heading off for your honeymoon tomorrow,” one nosy aunt asked suspiciously. “In such a rush… what are you hiding from us?”
“Yeah, kids like you shouldn’t keep secrets from us grown-ups. Where are you headed?”
Yu Wei felt her stomach turn. She didn’t even know half of these people well. Yesterday they were gossiping behind their backs, and now they were crowding around pretending to care? Disgusting.
“So desperate to know?” Ji Fuyi’s voice was calm and cool.
“Uncles and aunties, you seem even more concerned than our actual parents.”
Yu Wei nearly burst out laughing.
What Ji Fuyi said sounded polite—but was actually telling them to mind their own business.
“Oh come on, Fuyi, don’t be like that,” one of the aunts said shamelessly. “We’re just worried about you. You know how your mother is—she never cares about anything except having fun. If we don’t step in and help plan your honeymoon, who will…”
“Exactly! If you’re leaving in such a hurry, fine, young people have their own plans. We get it. But at least tell us where you’re going so we won’t worry. You know how your mom is.”
Ji Fuyi’s expression turned cold.
Her mother might not have been the most responsible parent, but these so-called relatives? They ignored her and her mother for years. Now they were here pointing fingers and gossiping? She invited them to the wedding to keep peace—not to give them a platform.
“Oh? Getting upset already?” the woman sneered. “You’ve only been married two days and already think we’re not good enough for you?”
“Excuse me?” Ji Fuyi shot her a sideways glance. “When exactly did we become ‘family’? The moment I got married?”
The woman’s face darkened. “Watch your tone, young lady!”
“She’s just telling the truth,” Yu Wei said with a sweet smile—but her eyes were sharp. “You, on the other hand… how are you speaking?”
A strong scent of mint suddenly intensified around Yu Wei.
In an instant, the Alpha presence around her was suffocating. The woman across from her froze, unable to speak. Her heart thudded in fear, sensing danger instinctively.
Yu Wei narrowed her eyes.
“We don’t welcome gossips here.”
The woman just stared, overwhelmed by the pressure of Yu Wei’s presence.
Yu Wei tilted her chin slightly and said:
“Leave.”
