I Woke Up And Found Myself Married - Chapter 38
“Fu Yi, are you asleep?”
On the plane to Summer Island, Yu Wei leaned over and whispered in Ji Fuyi’s ear.
“No,” Ji Fuyi opened her eyes and asked, “What is it?”
“Nothing really, just… planes make you dizzy during takeoff, right? Thought we could chat a bit,” she quickly found a topic. “Yesterday’s party was weird, wasn’t it?”
Ji Fuyi was a little tired. Before boarding the plane, she had gone through a series of medical checks to confirm whether she was fit to fly. Fortunately, although the doctor kept saying her condition wasn’t great, the test results came back fine.
She closed her eyes again and replied, “Yeah.”
“They both usually have really good temperaments, so how did they end up saying things like that yesterday…” Yu Wei rubbed her chin and said, “It was unbelievable.”
“Mm, the tension was thick,” Ji Fuyi agreed.
Thinking back to the confrontation between the two at the party, Yu Wei still felt stunned.
Initially, she had only wanted to introduce everyone to one another, and besides, Song Zhilin and Yan Shu had seemed like they’d met before, with some past acquaintanceship.
But afterward, after they each stepped out briefly, they came back and started saying those kinds of things.
Did they run into each other outside and have some conflict?
“Maybe they had some past grudge,” Ji Fuyi said as she leaned back against the seat again, eyes closed. “Next time we gather, just don’t put them together. It’s not a big deal.”
Yu Wei nodded. She had thought she was doing a good deed by introducing new friends, but it turned out to backfire. She resolved not to let that kind of thing happen again.
She thought of the scheduled phone meeting she had with Song Zhilin—she wasn’t sure if Song Zhilin would even be in the mood to talk about Ji Group matters anymore.
They had planned to review some materials related to Ji Group and use them for a finance article. After all, with Ji Group’s financial report being what it was, why did its CEO keep appearing in finance headlines?
Yu Wei had brought this up with Song Zhilin before, and they both agreed it was a good angle.
By the time she pulled her mind back from those thoughts, the plane had already leveled out and started cruising.
Ji Fuyi leaned back in her seat like she was preparing to sleep and mumbled, “It’s a little cold.”
“Cold?”
Yu Wei saw that she didn’t seem in the mood to talk anymore. She called over a passing flight attendant and said, “Excuse me, could we please get another blanket?”
First class was spacious and comfortable. Yu Wei gently draped the blanket over Ji Fuyi’s body. Wrapped up in the warmth, Ji Fuyi soon fell asleep, her breathing becoming soft and steady.
Ji Fuyi lay curled in the large seat, a grey cotton-linen neck pillow around her neck—plush and overly soft, clearly well-used on many trips.
On her feet were a pair of white slippers with bunny ears, fluffy and adorable.
Yu Wei couldn’t help but admire silently: So cute.
She wasn’t sure if it was the bunny slippers that were cute, or Ji Fuyi herself.
Maybe both were just so very cute.
Ji Fuyi’s hands were neatly folded on her lap, fingers interlaced. The edges of her wrist, under the light, had a porcelain-like texture.
Yu Wei’s heart fluttered slightly. A thought rose clearly in her mind—and she tried to suppress it.
I really want to touch her.
She wanted to feel Ji Fuyi’s wrist in her palm, to hold it gently.
She could imagine what it would feel like—slightly cool, but with incredibly smooth skin, and when fingertips brushed across it, there’d be a soft, delicate resistance.
She had once held that wrist, back when they first met. She remembered the tremble that came when their skin touched.
She had seen…
…more of Ji Fuyi’s allure.
Yu Wei bit her lip.
She started to feel hot, even though the air conditioning was already on low. The person beside her was wrapped in two blankets, but she still felt hot.
Yu Wei folded her own blanket and set it aside, hoping it would help.
But it didn’t.
The images she had tried to bury deep in her mind surged back like a flood.
Those golden locks scattered on the bed, the rapid breathing and kissing…
Entwined fingers, graceful curves…
Even Ji Fuyi wrapping her arms around her neck, asking for a kiss—her expression from that moment came back vividly.
Everything returned.
Ji Fuyi’s scent was like a sweet fruit—like a blend of watermelon and soda in summer. Just one touch, and the scorching heat seemed to lessen.
Yu Wei tried to regulate her breathing. She didn’t need a mirror to know her eyes were probably a little red.
Pre-heat cycle.
That term suddenly surfaced in Yu Wei’s mind. She had only read about it in textbooks—how during this period, Alphas become highly stimulated and desperately crave closeness with their Omegas. They find everything about their Omega sweet and irresistible.
And her Omega… was sleeping soundly right next to her.
Yu Wei couldn’t do anything.
Except restrain herself. That was the only option.
She silently told herself: You said you’d wait until Ji Fuyi liked you. So you have to wait.
She didn’t want to lose Ji Fuyi’s trust. She knew how hard it had been for Ji Fuyi to trust her at all.
That delicate, fondness-laced trust was like wild grass growing in the corner—vibrant, alive, waiting to one day blossom into affection.
Instinct and biology might guide a person, but she believed that being able to restrain those instincts… was what made her truly human.
Yu Wei breathed deeply, eyes unwillingly drawn back to Ji Fuyi’s sleeping face.
Her jawline was graceful, the kind that made you want to reach out and touch.
No more looking.
Yu Wei averted her gaze and focused out the window, forcing her attention onto the scenery outside.
The plane had been cruising for some time now.
Outside, the world was made of clouds—layers upon layers of white, shaped into all sorts of forms, tinged with sunlight in hues of pink and gold. It was a beautiful sight.
Yu Wei focused on the clouds for a while. When the flight attendant reminded them they could lower the window shades, she did so, blocking out the light to let Ji Fuyi sleep more comfortably.
She didn’t want to sleep, so she opened the entertainment screen in front of her and randomly picked a movie.
It took twelve hours to reach Summer Island. Long flights were exhausting.
Once they landed, her first priority would be to check into the hotel, get a foot massage, take a hot bath, and truly relax.
Though her eyes were on the movie, her thoughts were a mess—half wanting to hold Ji Fuyi’s hand, half thinking about the trip to come.
So restless, so jumbled. Yet beside her, Ji Fuyi slept peacefully.
She couldn’t help but glance at her. This woman really was a seasoned traveler, prepared with everything for long-haul flights. The moment the plane leveled out, she went straight to sleep.
Yu Wei couldn’t resist anymore. She took Ji Fuyi’s hand in hers.
The moment her skin touched hers, that restless heat inside her seemed to ease.
A sense of calm settled in her chest, and she let out a long breath.
Yu Wei held her hand while watching the movie.
She didn’t notice that her fingers had begun gently rubbing Ji Fuyi’s skin—softly, warmly, with a hint of exploratory curiosity.
Ji Fuyi let out a soft breath and woke up.
She turned slightly to look at Yu Wei.
Yu Wei was watching the movie, the light from the screen casting shadows across her face, highlighting her features and making her look strikingly beautiful.
Ji Fuyi didn’t say anything, just watched her quietly.
Yu Wei’s fingers had already woven between hers, locking their hands together.
Her round fingertips occasionally tapped against Ji Fuyi’s knuckles, creating an indescribable sensation.
Ji Fuyi thought this first-class cabin felt hotter than anywhere else.
A certain scent had long since filled the space—so long they’d stopped noticing it.
Her heartbeat sped up.
Yu Wei’s fingers flirted with hers, then lingered around her ring finger, tracing around the ring again and again.
She remained focused on the movie, while Ji Fuyi tried to regulate her breathing so as not to disturb her.
The scent of mint was growing stronger in the air.
Ji Fuyi felt a sheen of sweat forming at the back of her neck, sticking to the linen texture of the travel pillow and making her slightly uncomfortable.
After a long tracking shot, Yu Wei finally exhaled and snapped out of the movie’s plot. She casually turned her head.
Ji Fuyi was looking at her.
“Whoa, you scared me,” Yu Wei clutched her chest, paused the movie, and quickly asked, “When did you wake up? Were you uncomfortable? Still cold?”
Ji Fuyi shook her head. She raised their interlocked hands and placed them on the armrest between their seats, without saying a word.
Yu Wei froze.
That’s when she noticed the slight dampness between their hands, a strange, unfamiliar warmth.
She had only meant to hold Ji Fuyi’s hand to calm herself down.
“Uh, Fuyi, I didn’t mean—”
Yu Wei tried to let go, but Ji Fuyi gripped her hand tightly instead, her gaze dark and deep.
Yu Wei quickly tried to explain again, “I wasn’t—I didn’t mean to! I just wanted to hold your hand, even if you don’t like me, I thought… since we’re in a contract marriage, holding hands should be okay, right? Ugh, I don’t even know what I’m saying. If you don’t want to, then fine.”
She started to release her grip—but Ji Fuyi didn’t.
Instead, she held her even tighter, more firmly.
“What are you doing?” Yu Wei looked at her, her voice dropping.
“Nothing…”
Ji Fuyi’s breathing was a bit heavy as she leaned in.
No hesitation. No asking for permission. No second thoughts.
Just a kiss.
A wet, sticky kiss—lips brushing lips, tongues entwining.
Yu Wei stared at her blankly, as if unsure what was happening.
During a brief pause, Ji Fuyi sighed and said:
“When you’re kissing, close your eyes.”
Yu Wei’s heart jumped. She quickly shut her eyes.
Then opened them again.
“I said…”
Ji Fuyi’s lips brushed the corner of hers, one hand pressing gently on the back of her head, and said:
“When you’re kissing, close your eyes.”
Yu Wei’s mind went blank.
All she could do was let Ji Fuyi’s lips press against hers, let Ji Fuyi’s hand softly graze her neck, let her tongue sweep past hers…
She felt like she couldn’t move at all.
A long and sweet kiss.
Ji Fuyi finally let go of her hand, leaned toward her ear, and whispered softly:
“Your pre-heat cycle has started.”
