I Woke Up And Found Myself Married - Chapter 40
Yu Wei stood at the doorway, hugging her pillow.
The pillow was large and fluffy, covering half her face. Ji Fuyi could only see a pair of dark eyes peeking out, gazing at her like a small animal.
So cute. It had a soft, fluffy feel to it.
Ji Fuyi was reminded of many adorable things—like her kitten at home or the puppies she encountered on the street. She placed the magazine on the nightstand, looked up at Yu Wei, and asked calmly:
“Why the sudden request to sleep with me?”
“You know… during the susceptible period… Alphas get really attached to their Omegas. I’m human too, of course I’d want to be close to mine. It just feels more comfortable that way. If you don’t believe me, I can call a doctor and ask—they should know, since we’re at a wellness resort anyway… Never mind.”
Yu Wei shuffled her slippers against the thick carpet, head lowered, burying her face in the pillow like she was trying to think of a good excuse. But soon, she gave up.
“Actually… I just really want to hold you while I sleep.”
“You could’ve just said that.”
Ji Fuyi looked at her quietly, the corners of her lips curling up slightly. She picked up a pillow beside her and tilted her chin toward Yu Wei.
“Come on over.”
“Yay! I’m really coming, okay?” Yu Wei beamed as she crawled into bed next to Ji Fuyi, lying down obediently without making a single move. “Don’t worry, I won’t do anything. We already agreed.”
“Agreed on what?” Ji Fuyi asked.
“Oh, you know. We agreed that I’d wait until you fall in love with me. Until then, I’d never lay a finger on you.”
“Really?”
Ji Fuyi lowered her head and looked at her. Her blonde hair fell to the side of Yu Wei’s face, her voice soft and light—like a breeze brushing against Yu Wei’s ear.
“But back when we didn’t like each other, didn’t we already do everything?”
Yu Wei’s thoughts short-circuited. That familiar blankness returned. She wasn’t sure what to say.
What was Ji Fuyi implying? She felt like she understood—and yet also didn’t.
Yes, she did want to do something. But she also knew she shouldn’t.
Not just because of her promise. There were other reasons too—Ji Fuyi’s health, their baby… Was this really the right time?
Her mind was a mess, her heart thumping wildly. Her breathing grew more and more unsteady.
It felt like she was trapped in a maze, tangled in countless threads, unable to find the way out.
Ji Fuyi watched her quietly, her gaze filled with curiosity and study.
Yu Wei suddenly jumped out of bed. “It’s too bright. I’ll close the curtains.”
Ji Fuyi let out a soft laugh behind her. It didn’t mean much—but somehow it made Yu Wei feel even more flustered, as if it stirred something strange inside her.
It felt like she was mad—at something.
Yu Wei yanked the curtains hard, like she was venting her frustration.
But the curtains didn’t budge.
“What’s going on with this thing? Are the tracks stuck? That makes no sense. This hotel doesn’t maintain their equipment? Isn’t there regular inspection?”
She mumbled nonsense as a cover for her pounding heart, craning her neck to examine the curtain rail. It looked perfectly clean and well-maintained—not a single sign of rust or blockage.
“Why won’t it move? This is ridiculous. It’s so hot, who wants to sleep in the sun…”
“Oh, they’re not stuck,” Ji Fuyi said with a trace of amusement in her voice. “They’re automatic.”
Yu Wei turned around, completely confused.
Ji Fuyi pressed a button on the remote, and the curtains began to close slowly. As they passed Yu Wei, the fabric brushed gently across her cheek.
Yu Wei: “…”
Ever since her susceptible period started, she felt like her IQ had dropped. Nothing went smoothly—everything seemed to be working against her.
Could the textbook have been right? That Alphas in their susceptible period could only think about their Omegas and couldn’t think straight?
Yu Wei trudged back to bed in a daze. She lay beside Ji Fuyi, pulled the blanket over herself, and reached out instinctively—only to touch bare skin.
That soft, warm sensation at her fingertips made her heart pound even harder.
She froze. She wanted to pull her hand back—but Ji Fuyi had already pressed hers down.
“Weiwei,” Ji Fuyi said with a smile, “you seem really nervous.”
Her smile had a teasing edge. She gazed at Yu Wei, and Yu Wei stared right back. Ji Fuyi’s fingers slid gently across the back of Yu Wei’s hand.
It felt like an electric shock. Yu Wei trembled slightly.
“Fuyi…”
Yu Wei turned her wrist and held Ji Fuyi’s hand tightly.
“Enough.”
Ji Fuyi blinked innocently. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” Yu Wei replied with an even more innocent face. She let go of Ji Fuyi’s hand and wrapped an arm around her waist, her fingertips casually trailing over Ji Fuyi’s midsection—subtle, but suggestive. “You’re being really naughty today, sis.”
“When was I ever supposed to be good?”
As soon as Ji Fuyi said it, the scent of mint in the air grew stronger.
But it wasn’t the usual kind of soft, calming mint.
It was crisp, sharp—aggressive. She felt a shiver run down her spine, her calves tensing, toes curling.
That last time she smelled this version of Yu Wei’s scent… it had ended with a mark on her neck.
A mark that belonged to Yu Wei.
“Jiejie…”
Yu Wei blinked innocently again, hand still properly wrapped around Ji Fuyi’s waist. Through the thin fabric of her sleepwear, a faint warmth passed between them.
“You’re trembling. Are you cold?”
Ji Fuyi tried to steady her breathing. No—Yu Wei hadn’t done anything. She had simply… released a bit of pheromone.
A scent that made her head spin.
She had thought she’d become immune to it. But clearly, she hadn’t. The scent that used to calm her was now making her legs tense up.
Her body instinctively wanted to get closer to Yu Wei.
“No,” she whispered.
Then she burrowed into Yu Wei’s arms and closed her eyes, waiting for the minty scent to fade.
“Just hold me while I sleep. Then I won’t feel cold.”
Yu Wei instinctively embraced her.
Ji Fuyi’s body was unbelievably soft. In her arms, she radiated warmth. That sweet fragrance kept swirling around Yu Wei, making her dizzy.
She lowered her head, realizing the source of that tempting scent—Ji Fuyi’s neck.
The gland there was releasing Omega pheromones—sweet and cloying—blending with her natural scent, intoxicating.
It had been a long time since Yu Wei held Ji Fuyi like this.
Ever since that conversation, there’d been a subtle distance between them. They were like friends—but more than friends.
Sometimes they held hands, sometimes they hugged, sometimes they kissed on the cheek.
Always keeping that thin line.
Not a physical line—but a line in their hearts. One they knew not to cross.
Maybe it was because of that “wait until you love me” promise. Or maybe it was because of the wedding.
But on that flight to Summer Isle, that one kiss had awakened something.
That magnetic pull between them—it had never truly disappeared.
Yu Wei was now painfully aware: Ji Fuyi was her Omega. She bore her mark. In some sense, they already belonged to each other.
That instinct was both terrifying and sweet.
Holding Ji Fuyi in her arms made her feel grounded. The scent around her was delicious torment—she ached for it and basked in it.
Eventually, the fatigue from the flight caught up with her. Listening to Ji Fuyi’s soft breathing, Yu Wei drifted into sleep.
The room was the perfect temperature, the light dim, and the woman in her arms so soft—it made waking up the last thing anyone would want.
Ji Fuyi, however, was a light sleeper. After only two or three hours, she woke up.
Her low bl00d pressure made her groggy for a while. When her mind cleared, she found herself still locked in Yu Wei’s embrace—held tight with no room to move.
“Weiwei,” she whispered near her ear, “loosen up a little. I’m not going anywhere.”
Half-asleep, Yu Wei mumbled something and reluctantly loosened her grip. Ji Fuyi exhaled in relief—finally, she could breathe.
Being held like this meant she couldn’t even reach her phone. All she could do was stare at the ceiling… or at Yu Wei beside her.
The ceiling had intricate carvings, classic Summer Isle style—layered and finely detailed. Clearly, no expense was spared.
Yu Wei, on the other hand, remained fast asleep, eyes closed, caught in a dream.
Ji Fuyi sighed softly. After a while, drowsiness returned.
She closed her eyes and drifted back into sleep, faintly aware of Yu Wei’s arm around her waist, gently stroking her in a way that was strangely comforting.
Yu Wei didn’t know how long she’d slept.
When she woke, it was already dark outside.
Ji Fuyi was lying on the pillow next to her, watching her. As Yu Wei blinked sleepily, Ji Fuyi asked:
“You’re awake?”
Yu Wei didn’t let go. Still groggy, she mumbled, “Mm.”
“Weiwei, you’re holding me too tight.”
Ji Fuyi finally took the opportunity to voice her complaint, afraid Yu Wei might fall asleep again any second.
“Mm? Really?” Yu Wei nuzzled into her shoulder, her lips brushing against Ji Fuyi’s skin, making her giggle with the ticklish sensation. “I think it’s fine.”
Ji Fuyi: “…”
Was she awake or not?
“I’m so hungry,” Yu Wei murmured, arms and legs wrapped tightly around Ji Fuyi like an octopus. “Fuyi, aren’t you hungry?”
“I’m okay,” Ji Fuyi replied. She wasn’t very hungry—just drowsy after waking up. “What do you want to eat?”
“Hmm… me? Anything’s fine.”
Yu Wei’s eyes sparkled in the dark. Her cheeks were flushed, and the corners of her eyes were slightly misty.
One arm around Ji Fuyi’s waist, the other curled around her neck, she pressed her lips gently against the mark on Ji Fuyi’s neck.
Ji Fuyi trembled slightly, her voice shaky:
“Weiwei?”
“I think…”
Yu Wei’s teeth grazed Ji Fuyi’s neck, lightly nibbling at the mark again and again, sending shivers through her body.
When her canines made contact with the gland, Ji Fuyi’s body went rigid.
“You look delicious.”
