I Woke Up And Found Myself Married - Chapter 41
Her breath was hot.
Ji Fuyi could feel Yu Wei’s breath falling on her neck, sending wave after wave of tingling sensation.
Her strength seemed to be slipping away, and the arm around her waist tightened even more.
Yu Wei felt hot—a thin layer of sweat had formed on her back, sticking to her pajamas and making her uncomfortable.
As she held Ji Fuyi’s waist, she could feel the warmth of her skin there too.
The heat passed through the fabric and into Yu Wei’s arm, only making her feel even hotter.
“Weiwei…”
Amidst the scent of mint, Ji Fuyi spoke in a daze, her eyes hazy as she looked at Yu Wei:
“No… we can’t.”
“Ah…” Yu Wei let out a soft breath and rubbed her face against Ji Fuyi’s neck. She kept repeating the same words in her mind: Resist, I must resist.
The places where her canines brushed past tasted so sweet—no candy in the world could compare.
“I know we can’t. Of course we can’t. No matter how you put it, it’s not allowed,” she said, her face still buried in Ji Fuyi’s neck, her voice muffled, “You don’t love me yet. Even though I think you look really tasty… I want your heart more.”
Your heart.
Her voice was muffled, yet those three words came out so lightly.
Like a delicate music box, a single touch would make it play a beautiful melody.
“I understand,” Ji Fuyi stroked her hair. “That’s not what I meant.”
Yu Wei lifted her head, a bit puzzled as she looked at her.
Ji Fuyi averted her gaze and looked up at the ceiling, admiring the intricate carvings.
“I just thought… it’s not really good for the baby.”
She didn’t want to explain that fleeting impulse she had just now, so she deflected with that excuse.
“Oh right, your health isn’t great,” Yu Wei suddenly realized something. Even though she didn’t feel anything unusual, her pheromones must’ve been drifting wildly through the air. She worked hard to suppress the scent of mint and gave Ji Fuyi a soft kiss on the ear.
“Just one kiss. Then I’ll get up.”
“Hurry and get up,” Ji Fuyi gently pushed the arm wrapped around her waist and whispered, “Holding me like this can’t be comfortable for you either.”
The room was filled with intertwining pheromones—sweet, tempting. Under the covers, their bodies were slightly sweaty, a little warm, a little damp.
Yu Wei pulled her arm away from Ji Fuyi’s waist. As expected, the tips of her fingers felt scorching, sending shivers through her chest.
She lifted the covers and got out of bed. Carefully, she tucked the blanket around Ji Fuyi and adjusted the air conditioner, raising the temperature by two degrees.
As she walked, she said, “Wait a bit before getting up. Stay warm so you don’t catch a cold.”
“How could I?” Ji Fuyi sat up for just a few seconds before getting out of bed to grab a towel. She planned to take a shower before heading out. “It’s not that easy to catch a cold.”
“That’s where you’re wrong! It’s totally easy to catch a cold—especially napping with the AC on. You’ll feel chilly the moment you get up,” Yu Wei said from the doorway, completely serious.
“You need to be careful. Catching a cold is awful.”
“Alright, alright, I got it,” Ji Fuyi replied cheerfully, sounding refreshed after her nap.
“Are you going to shower?”
“Yep, I am.”
Yu Wei headed to her room and said, “Let’s go eat downstairs after.”
After showering, Yu Wei felt refreshed and much more comfortable.
The hotel was well-equipped. Inside the bathroom cabinet was an inhibitor spray, suitable even during Alpha’s susceptibility periods. She picked it up and skimmed through the instructions, then decisively sprayed a little on her neck.
Whatever scent burst from the spray immediately made her feel much lighter.
The heat in her chest subsided a bit, and her skin felt a bit cooler.
Yu Wei opened her suitcase, looking for something suitable to wear for dinner.
After the long flight, the suitcase was already disorganized, and now it was an even bigger mess.
…Shirts, long pants, short skirts—everything was in there, except for the one shirt she was looking for.
Yu Wei had a short-sleeved button-down shirt that was perfect for Summer Island—made of silk, printed with tall palm trees and white sand beaches.
“Huh?” Yu Wei dug through the suitcase, rummaging everywhere.
“Where did it go?”
“What are you looking for?”
Ji Fuyi’s voice came suddenly, startling Yu Wei. She jumped and hurriedly shut the suitcase.
“Nothing… just a short-sleeved shirt.”
Yu Wei used her body to block the suitcase and gave her a bright smile.
“Hmm?”
Ji Fuyi lifted her chin toward the suitcase. “Why’d you stop looking?”
“Uh… I guess something else is fine too.” Yu Wei didn’t want to open the suitcase in front of her—she didn’t want her to see the chaos inside.
She grabbed a white T-shirt from the bed and waved it in front of Ji Fuyi.
“Really? You were rummaging for ages,” Ji Fuyi said with a teasing smile, making a phone-call gesture.
“Want me to help you pack?”
Yu Wei: “……”
She hadn’t forgotten that before the trip, she had enthusiastically offered to help Ji Fuyi pack—until she saw Ji Fuyi’s suitcase.
Everything inside was perfectly arranged, neat and spotless—nothing like Yu Wei’s “just toss it all in” style.
“No, no, no, it’s fine. I’ll find it soon,” Yu Wei tossed the T-shirt aside and pushed Ji Fuyi down onto the sofa.
“Just give me a sec. I’ll change real quick, and we’ll go eat.”
“Really don’t want my help?”
Ji Fuyi raised an eyebrow and looked like she meant it.
Under her gaze, Yu Wei’s face slowly, slowly turned red.
The more serious Ji Fuyi looked, the more embarrassed Yu Wei felt.
How bold she had been, volunteering to pack for Ji Fuyi!
Yu Wei thought her years of studying abroad had made her a pro at packing—but she had never realized there was such a massive gap between “dump it all in” and “organized folding.”
Under Ji Fuyi’s teasing gaze, Yu Wei’s ears turned red. She gave up and opened the suitcase with a resigned sigh, pulling out the clothes one by one and tossing them onto the bed.
By the time she neared the bottom, she finally spotted her shirt wedged in the middle of the pile. She pulled it out and tossed it on the bed with relief.
“Alright! Found it.”
She grabbed a pair of white shorts from the pile and headed to the walk-in closet to change.
“Thought I didn’t bring it.”
When she came back out, Ji Fuyi was sitting on the sofa, biting into a peach.
Yu Wei winked at her and said, “Let’s go.”
Ji Fuyi followed her toward the elevator, nibbling on the peach. After finishing it, she casually licked her fingers, glanced sideways at Yu Wei, and said,
“So sweet.”
Yu Wei pressed the elevator button, avoiding her gaze.
So sweet.
Sweet, sweet, sweet—was she talking about the peach?
The elevator was small. Their reflections appeared in the mirrored walls. Ji Fuyi wore a flowing white dress, the sheer fabric draping over her legs, outlining graceful curves. On her feet were lace-up sandals with bows tied at the ankles—hard to look away.
Yu Wei glanced at herself again: palm tree shirt, white shorts. She looked like a tourist going fishing on Summer Island.
“Ahh, I’ve lost,” Yu Wei sighed at the mirror.
“You look amazing today.”
“Really?”
Ji Fuyi asked casually, brushing her hand against Yu Wei’s and asking:
“You sprayed an inhibitor?”
“Yeah, you could smell it?” Yu Wei quickly held her hand.
“There was some in the hotel bathroom cabinet. I saw it was okay for susceptibility periods, so I sprayed a bit.”
“Hmm,” Ji Fuyi frowned and shook her head.
“Doesn’t smell good.”
“No? I couldn’t even tell what scent it was. What does it smell like?” Yu Wei asked.
“Milk.”
Ji Fuyi replied simply.
“That’s a common one, right? I think the most popular ones on the market are milk-scented. I didn’t expect the hotel to stock it too,” Yu Wei said casually, then asked,
“What kind of scent do you like? I’ll see if I can find it.”
Ji Fuyi glanced at her and quietly answered:
“Mint.”
“Eh?”
Yu Wei froze for a moment, then hugged her arm tightly and leaned in to whisper into her ear:
“That’s my scent.”
Ji Fuyi nodded without saying anything.
Seeing her silent, Yu Wei hugged her arm even tighter and gently blew into her ear again, asking:
“You like my scent?”
Ji Fuyi tilted her head slightly, and Yu Wei leaned in even closer.
“What do you think?” Ji Fuyi asked helplessly.
Yu Wei shook her head with a sly grin.
“I don’t know. You have to tell me, big sis.”
Ji Fuyi gave her a sidelong glance, looking even more helpless.
“Yes. I like the scent of mint.”
Yu Wei lowered her head and mumbled in dissatisfaction:
“Then that means you like my scent.”
…
The hotel restaurant was beautifully located, with floor-to-ceiling glass windows. Outside stood tall palm trees, and white sands stretched all the way to the edge. The sky-blue curtains filtered half the sunlight, leaving only the gentleness of Summer Island’s evening glow.
Although they were on a honeymoon, there was also a purpose of recovery.
The meals were provided by the hotel, with menus designed by nutritionists and approved by doctors. Yu Wei had expected tasteless “hospital food,” but it turned out the dishes not only showcased local flavors—they were delicious.
“I thought it’d be like patient meals,” Yu Wei said happily as she tasted the island’s signature creamy oysters, “But this is pretty good. They didn’t leave out any local specialties.”
“They did avoid things that pregnant women shouldn’t eat,” Ji Fuyi added, squeezing lemon over the oyster. The specially prepared oysters gleamed white and emitted a rich creamy aroma. The lemon’s tang added even more appetite appeal.
Since becoming pregnant, even the faintest fishy smell made her nauseous—so she hadn’t touched seafood in a long time.
“These oysters are handled really well.”
Ji Fuyi praised them, but after eating one more, she set down her knife and fork.
“If you like it, want another?” Yu Wei had just ladled out some chicken soup and pushed the bowl toward Ji Fuyi.
“No, too much cream gets cloying.” Ji Fuyi accepted the soup and took a small sip.
“I’ll just drink some soup.”
After a sip, she turned her head and looked out the tall glass window.
Night was about to fall on Summer Island. The last bit of sunset clung to the sky, the clouds tinged with a burning pink.
“So beautiful,” Ji Fuyi said, staring at the glow,
“It’s been a long time since I watched a sunset.”
Yu Wei followed her gaze. A setting sun hung low on the horizon.
She blinked and asked:
“Want to take a walk on the beach?”
