I Woke Up And Found Myself Married - Chapter 42
“How did you know I wanted to take a walk on the beach?”
The warm breeze of the summer island lifted Ji Fuyi’s dress. She pressed her skirt down while asking.
Yu Wei walked beside her, hands tucked into her pockets, looking up at the sky.
“You were just staring at the beach. Of course I knew you wanted to go for a walk. I’m not stupid.”
The sand was soft beneath their feet, creating a peculiar sensation.
In the evening breeze, the coconut trees rustled. The tall trunks cast long shadows across the sand, within which were tiny shells and conches.
A few children passed by them, bouncing a ball as they ran.
Ji Fuyi’s gaze followed those children. Something in her heart gently trembled.
“Fuyi…”
Yu Wei clearly noticed where she was looking.
“Do you like kids?”
Ji Fuyi shook her head but, after a few seconds, nodded. Her tone was hesitant.
“I think… I kind of like them…”
She couldn’t quite explain the feeling.
Ji Fuyi used to think she would never have anything to do with children. Since she was young, she didn’t like her older siblings. They only showed up during holidays, and whenever they did, all they did was bully her. Later, when she got a bit older, she got along well with friends, but when it came to kids younger than her, she felt nothing.
Eventually, she even thought children just had nothing to do with her.
“Kind of like them?”
Yu Wei asked, confused.
Ji Fuyi looked at the sunset. The pink sky reflected in her eyes, bringing a strange sense of peace to her heart.
White clouds scattered amidst the burning evening glow, like something eternal and serene.
“I think I like them, a little bit,” Ji Fuyi looked down and counted on her fingers, trying to grasp those fleeting thoughts. “I never thought about kids before. It was only after getting pregnant that I slowly became aware…”
Images flashed through her mind—lush green bushes, children running and laughing, overlapping with the kids who just passed with the ball.
“Actually, I do kind of like kids. Sometimes I think they’re small, soft, and smell sweet—like dough. But I’m scared to hold them. Not even for a second. I always feel like the moment I get close, something bad will happen,” Ji Fuyi stared up at the sky and sat on a bench with Yu Wei. She kept playing with her fingers until Yu Wei held her hand.
“I think kids are too fragile, like they’ll break if I touch them.”
“I’m also really scared I won’t be a good mother.” Ji Fuyi’s hand trembled slightly.
“I don’t know how to be a good mom, and there’s no one to teach me.”
No one to teach me.
Yu Wei’s heart trembled. She held Ji Fuyi’s hand tighter and tighter, intertwining their fingers.
“It’s okay,” Yu Wei pulled her into an embrace and whispered in her ear,
“I’ll learn with you.”
“No matter what it is, I’ll be with you.”
Her voice was soft, but it carried infinite strength. Ji Fuyi felt safe.
The sunset gradually faded, and the sky darkened. The clouds took on a silvery gray hue.
Ji Fuyi gazed at the sky for a long time. She held Yu Wei’s hand tightly, feeling the warmth and the unprecedented sense of peace from her.
She felt her heart flutter.
The moon came out.
A full moon.
It hung high in the night sky, casting a gentle glow across the heavens.
Besides the full moon, the night was adorned with twinkling stars.
One by one, they sparkled across the velvet night, dazzling and bright.
On the calm sea, wave after wave rolled in, creating small splashes and leaving damp marks on the shore.
Tiny shells shimmered in the night, reflecting silver light that echoed the stars in the sky.
A gentle breeze blew past Ji Fuyi’s cheeks, lifting her golden hair and letting it fall softly on her shoulder.
She turned her head to look at Yu Wei, who was gazing intently at the waves, her eyes focused on the distant horizon.
There was nothing on the horizon, yet it seemed to hold an entire universe.
The moon’s reflection shimmered on the sea, causing ripples of soft light—flickering, mesmerizing.
Yu Wei kept watching the sea, fingers gently rubbing Ji Fuyi’s. Her expression was so focused, as if looking at the sea was the most important thing in the world.
Ji Fuyi’s heart fluttered again.
Maybe… she’s the one.
I’ll fall in love with her.
A voice quietly rose in Ji Fuyi’s heart. Soft, but filled with a kind of firm strength.
She knew this was the moment she’d been waiting for.
She still had hesitations, still some unease, still some uncertainty—but all of that just needed time.
Ji Fuyi listened to the sound of her own heartbeat and gently squeezed Yu Wei’s hand.
“Hm?”
Yu Wei immediately turned to her, smiling brightly.
“What is it?”
Still those clear eyes, seemingly purer than the moon above.
“Weiwei,” Ji Fuyi looked into her eyes and asked,
“Why don’t we… keep the baby?”
“Huh?”
Yu Wei didn’t seem to understand at first. She tilted her head.
A few seconds later, her eyes widened.
“What did you say?”
Her voice trembled with surprise and disbelief.
Ji Fuyi felt that flutter in her heart again—and a twinge of guilt.
She had never considered whether Yu Wei wanted the baby. She’d only thought about her own feelings. Yu Wei had acted like she didn’t mind, so Ji Fuyi had assumed she really didn’t. She’d made the decision on her own.
“Let’s have the baby.”
Ji Fuyi said again, clearly. She saw Yu Wei’s stunned expression gradually turn into overwhelming joy. That guilt grew a little deeper, and she couldn’t help but hold her hand.
“I’m sorry. I never asked how you felt about it before.”
“No, no, no—it’s okay! Really, I’m okay with either! I think you’re the most important one. If you didn’t want the baby, that’d be fine too. But having it is great! I think babies are so soft and sweet—I can totally be a good mom,” Yu Wei’s eyes sparkled as she kept smiling,
“Really, don’t be scared or feel pressured. I really mean it—it’s all okay.”
Ji Fuyi looked at her, amused.
“I know. I want to have it.”
“Okay, okay! If you want it, we’ll have it. I’ll stay with you no matter what—always!” Yu Wei was rambling. She didn’t even know what she was saying anymore, just that a thousand thoughts were rushing in all at once.
“You can tell me anything, okay? I always felt like you had something on your mind, but I didn’t dare ask…”
Ji Fuyi patted her hand with a smile.
“Why didn’t you ask?”
“I was afraid you’d be angry. You got mad once before when I asked something I shouldn’t,” Yu Wei blinked at her,
“I wanted to ask, but more than that, I just wanted to see you happy every day.”
Ji Fuyi laughed softly. What was Yu Wei always thinking when she wasn’t paying attention?
She had assumed Yu Wei really didn’t care much, that she was always carefree—just thinking about where to go on vacation next. But today, she realized…
Yu Wei had been thinking about much more than she let on.
“I won’t get mad.”
Ji Fuyi said seriously,
“Next time, just ask me directly.”
Maybe she had been the one ignoring Yu Wei’s feelings all along.
Ji Fuyi tucked her hair behind her ear, and once she realized that truth, she found that even the way she looked at Yu Wei felt a little different.
It was hard to describe. A mix of confusion and excitement.
She looked at Yu Wei. Yu Wei looked back at her.
The moonlight fell on Yu Wei’s blonde hair, momentarily dazzling her.
She stared at Ji Fuyi’s face, thinking: this person is so beautiful. She wanted to spend the rest of her life looking only at her.
“Can I ask anything?”
Yu Wei bit her lip. Her throat felt dry.
Ji Fuyi met her eyes. She could hear her own heartbeat—and she could feel Yu Wei’s too.
Something was brewing between them—not pheromones, but something sweeter and thicker.
They had already shared many intense moments—every kiss, every touch, every exchange of pheromones and heartbeats. They had explored every inch of each other’s bodies.
But this heartbeat—this emotion—was appearing for the very first time.
It was like a bubble, so light they were afraid to touch it.
Yu Wei’s heart was racing. She almost couldn’t feel her own existence. All her attention was focused on Ji Fuyi—her golden hair, red lips, the hem of her dress, her fingers. Everything about her was like a still painting.
“Jiejie… right now, do you maybe…”
Yu Wei hesitated, then softly asked:
“Like me? Even just a little?”
Ji Fuyi looked into her bright, brave eyes—like little poplars in spring, full of youthful energy.
She had never seen this expression on Yu Wei before. Most of the time, Yu Wei was her adorable clingy pup, calling her jiejie. Other times, she was the steady Alpha.
But this expression—this moment—was full of youthful sincerity and vulnerability.
Yu Wei waited seriously for her answer.
Amid her heartbeat, Ji Fuyi told her:
“I like you. A little.”
“Really?!”
Yu Wei threw her arms around her, grinning brighter than the moon.
“You’re not allowed to lie to me!”
“Why would I lie to you?”
Ji Fuyi pried her arms off and patted her hand.
“I don’t know! Maybe you didn’t want to disappoint me so you just said it,” Yu Wei blurted,
“But don’t lie to me. It’s okay, really. I can wait—I swear I can.”
“I didn’t lie.”
Ji Fuyi turned to her and said with firm seriousness:
“More than just a little.”
As soon as she said it, she felt a kiss fall on her cheek.
Lighter than a feather, yet brighter than the moon.
