I Woke Up And Found Myself Married - Chapter 49
The next morning, Yu Wei’s head still felt a little foggy. She lay there in a daze for a while before she finally woke up.
She found herself wrapped tightly in Ji Fuyi’s arms.
This unfamiliar situation only made Yu Wei even more confused.
She was always the one hugging others to sleep—no one had ever hugged her before…
But Ji Fuyi’s body was soft and carried a pleasant scent. Being held entirely in her arms… actually felt kind of nice.
Fortunately, Yu Wei still remembered why she had gotten up so early. She had scheduled a video meeting with Song Zhilin at 8 AM.
Song Zhilin had messaged her the night before, saying that she’d already conducted some interview research, and a report would be aired in the coming days.
Yu Wei carefully slipped out of Ji Fuyi’s embrace and went to the bathroom to freshen up, still feeling vaguely unsettled.
Standing in front of the bathroom mirror, Yu Wei finally realized what was bothering her.
There was a very noticeable bite mark on her neck, not to mention the various hickeys scattered across her collarbone.
Memories from the night before surfaced in her mind, and her face flushed bright red.
She, an Alpha, had not only let her Omega do this and that to her—but in the end, she’d even embarrassingly clung to Ji Fuyi’s shoulders and shed a few uncontrollable tears.
Ji Fuyi had looked down at her from above, eyes full of amusement, and said:
“Why do I feel like you suit being an Omega too?”
Yu Wei wanted to say something to refute her, but all that came out were soft, delicate sounds—she’d lost all her usual assertiveness.
The normally overbearing minty scent she emitted had turned sweet and clingy, completely suppressed by Ji Fuyi’s cool fragrance. Ji Fuyi’s kisses on her body had a biting edge, and Yu Wei couldn’t help but wrap her arms around Ji Fuyi’s neck, pressing herself close.
Just thinking about the scene made her head heat up again. The mix of embarrassment and frustration left her at a loss for what to do.
She wanted to blame Ji Fuyi for being too forward—but the truth was, she’d enjoyed it too…
How did things end up like this?!
Yu Wei’s face turned red from her ears all the way down her neck. She opened the bathroom cabinet and found the inhibitor spray. She was just about to spray herself recklessly when she remembered how it all started the night before—so she quietly put the inhibitor back.
Yu Wei changed clothes and stood in front of the mirror, tidying up her appearance. She was about to go out and start her video meeting with Song Zhilin.
Everything looked fine—except for those very conspicuous hickeys on her neck.
She knew Song Zhilin wouldn’t pry, but she still felt inexplicably embarrassed. She just didn’t want anyone to see them.
Yu Wei applied a layer of concealer over the marks. Looking in the mirror, she wasn’t satisfied—it was still obvious. So she added a layer of foundation.
Still not good enough…
When she realized even after several layers of makeup the marks were still visible, she nearly broke down.
She really wanted to rush out and shake Ji Fuyi awake and demand to know what she was thinking.
You can’t even mark me—why bite me?!
Out of options, Yu Wei turned to the beauty filter on her webcam, cranked it up to the maximum level, and prayed that the smoothing effect would save her and erase all those suspicious kiss marks.
As soon as the video call connected, Song Zhilin was startled.
She checked the account several times—it was definitely Yu Wei, but the level 10 beauty filter combined with the bright summer sunlight made it hard to even see Yu Wei’s facial features.
“Weiwei, what happened to you today?”
Staring at the screen, Song Zhilin felt like she was watching a livestream influencer, and couldn’t help asking:
“Did you mess up the software settings?”
She was about to teach Yu Wei how to adjust it back when Yu Wei waved her hand and calmly said:
“Nope, I got a tan here on Summer Island. Just turned on the beauty filter so I don’t scare you, senior.”
Song Zhilin: “…”
What a strange excuse, but she didn’t press the issue. Instead, she sent two documents to Yu Wei and opened her own work planner, methodically discussing the upcoming interview report.
Last time, when Yu Wei told her that Yan Shu was their group’s little informant, Song Zhilin had added Yan Shu as a friend to request an interview.
At first, Yan Shu sent her a few aggressive voice messages. No matter what she said, Yan Shu had the same uncooperative tone.
Song Zhilin thought that lead was a dead end.
Though she and Yan Shu had been close before, things were awkward now. She couldn’t force her to do something she didn’t want to do.
Left with no choice, Song Zhilin sent a gentle voice message:
“If you’re not willing, then that’s fine. I never meant to pressure you. Honestly, just being in the same city again is already a rare thing. No need for unpleasantness.”
“Shushu, sorry for bothering you today. If you have time, I’d love to treat you to a meal to make up for it.”
She didn’t expect anything after that.
But after an all-night shift, she saw a message from Yan Shu asking where they’d be eating.
Song Zhilin picked a restaurant, intending to meet for dinner, but then Yan Shu called.
As soon as she picked up, she heard that same familiar bratty tone from years ago:
“I want to eat now.”
Song Zhilin was momentarily stunned and reflexively soothed her:
“Okay, okay, let’s eat now. Want me to come pick you up?”
As soon as she said it, both of them went silent.
Neither spoke. The pause was so long that Song Zhilin thought the call had been disconnected.
She didn’t know if Yan Shu had hung up or not, but she couldn’t bring herself to check. It was as if she was trapped in a fragile illusion, unwilling to wake up.
Eventually, she heard Yan Shu’s voice again.
Soft. So soft.
“Then come pick me up.”
That voice could never have come from the sixteen-year-old Yan Shu—who was always proud and unreasonable and never showed weakness.
In that moment, the illusion shattered.
Shaking off that moment of nostalgic longing, Song Zhilin returned her focus to work.
She flipped through her planner and explained to Yu Wei:
“The Ji Group has always welcomed interviews and reports like this. Their PR department loves this kind of thing—they’ve appeared in plenty of finance magazines and newspapers. Public image is great.”
“But among downstream suppliers, the Ji Group’s reputation is horrible—like a plague. Their partners hear the name and immediately frown.”
“Our team investigated that. A lot of data and financial statements aren’t adding up. The initial report will be subtle, aired on the finance segment, but once it’s out, people will definitely react.”
“There are plenty of rumors among the big companies in City B—none of them look kindly on the Ji Group anymore. Used to be good partners. Now, whoever works with them loses money.”
Song Zhilin smiled. After days of hard work, their whole team finally had something to show for it.
“Once the news airs and the financial fraud is exposed, they won’t be able to cover up the unfinished resort. The residents are all waiting to demand justice.”
Yu Wei nodded. The falsified financial reports would matter only to shareholders and internal management—but once exposed, Ji Fuyi’s father wouldn’t be able to hold onto his CEO seat.
There were plenty of relatives in the Ji family. Though he’d used fake reports to keep his position, his actual shareholding wasn’t dominant.
If a few relatives united against him, they wouldn’t even need to scheme—just pressuring him with business performance would be enough to kick him out.
And in a family-run company, losing power was a miserable fate.
But for Ji Fuyi’s father, losing power and money wasn’t the worst part—he might cling to Ji Fuyi, or her family, for financial support. That would be a problem.
Yu Wei frowned, thinking it over. In the end, she still supported Song Zhilin’s plan to thoroughly investigate the unfinished resort.
Poor construction and falsified financials—together, enough to land Ji’s father in jail.
Yu Wei ran through everything in her mind. She rarely dealt with business matters, but once Ji’s father fell, the Ji family would need a competent CEO. That way, her family and theirs could cooperate better in the future.
She noted this down in her notebook, planning to discuss it with her father.
On the other end of the call, Song Zhilin had already checked off several items from her plan and continued:
“After this, there’s not much we can do. It’ll turn into a power struggle. But follow-up coverage will definitely happen.”
Yu Wei nodded and said:
“If the CEO is incompetent, just replace him. The Ji Group can still make amends.”
Song Zhilin smiled. She knew exactly what they were doing and agreed with Yu Wei’s outlook.
“Sure. But the Ji Group won’t be the same anymore. People in upper management will definitely be affected. Are you sure Fuyi’s not involved with the company?”
“Nope. She hasn’t even stepped foot in the Ji house.”
Just thinking about it made Yu Wei angry.
What kind of person would keep their daughter away from the family home for ten years—not even letting her return for her own wedding?
Ji Fuyi had brushed it off once, saying:
“Out of my dad’s three wives, only my mom couldn’t help him in business. His current wife comes from a strong background. Even the son from his first marriage rarely shows up. Of course he doesn’t want me there—I’d be an eyesore.”
Yu Wei had nearly exploded then.
How could anyone treat her princess like that?
Even if it was her biological father—it was unforgivable.
Song Zhilin didn’t know what Yu Wei was thinking—she just confirmed that Ji Fuyi had no ties to the Ji Group and moved on.
After finishing the meeting, Yu Wei stretched and checked the time—Ji Fuyi should be awake by now.
She quickly packed up her computer and walked to the living room, worried she might find Ji Fuyi asleep on the couch again.
Thankfully, the living room was empty this time. Yu Wei let out a sigh of relief.
She walked into the bedroom. Ji Fuyi was already awake, sitting on the bed with a tablet in hand, brows furrowed, looking tense.
When she saw Yu Wei come in, she looked up—and immediately noticed the thick layers of concealer and foundation on Yu Wei’s neck.
She couldn’t help but chuckle. Her bad mood from earlier vanished instantly.
“What happened to your neck?”
She smiled ambiguously and threw Yu Wei a teasing look.
With that playful glint in her eyes, Yu Wei’s face slowly turned red again.
Her ears burned, and she instinctively lowered her head, grumbling:
“Don’t you already know what happened?”
Her tone made Ji Fuyi even more amused.
Squinting with a grin, Ji Fuyi stared at her. Even though Yu Wei was pretending to be mad, her cheeks were flushed, like she was sulking.
“Of course I know,” Ji Fuyi said cheerfully, voice lilting with amusement. “I was the one who did it—how could I not know?”
That only made Yu Wei angrier. How could she be so shameless?!
“If you knew, why’d you ask?!”
Yu Wei flopped onto the sofa in the room, voice muffled.
“So annoying.”
“You think I’m annoying?”
Ji Fuyi’s smile widened, her face even more radiant.
“But last night—”
She deliberately dragged out the words, waiting for Yu Wei’s reaction.
“Didn’t you enjoy it quite a lot?”
