I Woke Up And Found Myself Married - Chapter 5
Yan Shu held her breath, waiting for Ji Fuyi’s answer.
Knowing Ji Fuyi’s personality, if it weren’t something truly important, she’d never come out on a weekday. There’s no way she’d break her rule just for a casual gathering. As for Yu Wei being drunk… they’d only known each other for three days. Why would she care? Even if she had looked at Yu Wei with those eyes, it didn’t mean anything, right?
Yan Shu was taking a gamble. She wanted to test Ji Fuyi’s reaction—see if she could figure out who Yu Wei had gotten drunk for. After all, Yu Wei had just returned to the country. She hadn’t met many people yet. Aside from that little flirtation at the reception with Ji Fuyi, there didn’t seem to be any other connections.
She had only been testing the waters, but unexpectedly, Ji Fuyi paused for a few seconds and asked:
“Where are you?”
Yan Shu: “?!”
Wait a minute. Were these two really a thing?
Yan Shu stared at Yu Wei, speechless. She wanted to shake her awake and interrogate her on the spot.
Half an hour later, Ji Fuyi arrived. Yan Shu had assumed she’d at least take two hours, but she showed up shockingly fast.
Ji Fuyi wore a mask, only her beautiful eyes visible. The moment she walked into the private room, everyone fell silent—then erupted in cheers.
“Damn, look who showed up! Fuyi actually had time today?”
“Yan-jie, you’re the real deal. Who else could get Fuyi to come out on a weekday?”
“Come on, superstar! Grab the mic!”
“I’m still filming lately, my throat’s hoarse. Can’t sing.” Ji Fuyi didn’t take the mic. She just picked a seat and sat down. “It’s not even that late. How is everyone this drunk already?”
She frowned, eyes landing on Yu Wei, who was holding a wine glass.
Yu Wei’s eyes sparkled, completely oblivious to Ji Fuyi’s sudden arrival. She was animatedly chatting with Yan Shu, a quiet girl beside her watching with an expression of pure admiration.
Seeing Yu Wei like this, Ji Fuyi inexplicably felt annoyed.
“Fuyi, this is Yu Wei,” someone introduced, noticing her gaze. “She’s an old classmate of ours, just got back from abroad. Long time no see, so we’re going a little hard tonight, haha.”
Anyone could hear the awkwardness in that “haha,” especially when Yu Wei spotted Ji Fuyi, immediately put down her wine glass, and practically pounced like a koala.
“Jiejie!”
Yu Wei shouted, throwing herself into Ji Fuyi’s arms.
Ji Fuyi: “……”
Yan Shu couldn’t bear to look and quietly turned her head away.
“Haha, uh… you two know each other?”
“Sort of…” Ji Fuyi was stiff as Yu Wei clung tightly to her. Her smile was visibly strained. “She wanted my autograph.”
“Oh~” The people around them made enlightened sounds—ah, a fangirl moment.
Yan Shu rolled her eyes silently. These two had been exchanging glances the whole night at the party, then disappeared hand-in-hand into the garden—and it was all just for an autograph?
“Jiejie, jiejie! Why are you here?”
Yu Wei clung to her like a limp noodle. Her lips were about to land somewhere problematic when Ji Fuyi turned her head just in time and pried her off. She smiled apologetically to the group.
“She’s really out of it. I’ll take her home, okay?”
Yan Shu immediately agreed and got up to help support Yu Wei, escorting her and Ji Fuyi to the car.
“You two…” When they got to the underground parking, Yan Shu finally gave in to her curiosity. “What’s going on?”
Ji Fuyi’s gaze drifted to the ground. “It’s nothing.”
Yan Shu screamed internally. Nothing, my ass! You, the woman who has a thousand reasons to avoid gatherings on weekdays, came rushing over just because someone said Yu Wei was drunk?! You’ve known her for what—three days?!
After stuffing Yu Wei into the front passenger seat, Yan Shu patted Ji Fuyi on the shoulder and said meaningfully, “Drive safe.”
Ji Fuyi didn’t catch the subtext and nodded. “Okay. I’ll call you when we get back.”
Since Yu Wei had been drinking, Ji Fuyi didn’t turn on the A/C, afraid she’d catch a chill. She rolled the window down just a bit, letting the cool night breeze drift in. Yu Wei leaned toward her, visibly more comfortable, then turned her head and stared at Ji Fuyi in disbelief.
“What are you doing here?” Yu Wei asked, sounding confused. “Am I dreaming?”
The alcohol made her voice a little hoarse, but in Ji Fuyi’s ears, it was like a kitten softly pawing at her—suddenly, her heart felt warm.
Maybe because she’d been drinking, Yu Wei’s pheromones were leaking out uncontrollably, floating in the air and teasing Ji Fuyi’s senses. Instinctively, Ji Fuyi snapped:
“Retract your pheromones!”
Instantly, the scent in the air vanished.
With the distraction gone, Ji Fuyi could finally focus on driving again. But as she gripped the steering wheel, she felt the normally short drive dragging on forever.
At a red light, she glanced over at Yu Wei.
Yu Wei was awake now, big eyes staring at her. Her lashes fluttered, lips pressed tightly together. She looked like a wet little puppy.
Maybe it was her imagination, but Ji Fuyi could’ve sworn her face was full of… hurt?
“What’s wrong?” Ji Fuyi asked.
Yu Wei kept staring, looking even more aggrieved.
Halfway through the red light countdown, she finally spoke in a small voice: “You told me to retract my pheromones…”
Ji Fuyi’s heart softened. She had never met an Alpha like this. Something about Yu Wei poked at a nerve, making her seem… cute.
“How am I supposed to drive if you don’t?” Ji Fuyi replied, trying to keep her voice level. “You know exactly how your pheromones affect me.”
“Of course I know…”
Yu Wei mumbled, then suddenly leaned in and kissed her cheek.
“It makes your heart race, your breath quicken, your limbs go soft… makes you want me to kiss you, hug you, and—”
“Okay, okay! That’s enough detail.”
Ji Fuyi said flatly, but she stepped on the gas, wishing she could teleport home and slap duct tape over Yu Wei’s mouth.
“You asked,” Yu Wei mumbled, “Why are you being mean again…”
Ji Fuyi had nothing to say. So this was what it meant to dig your own grave.
She somehow managed to drag this nonsense-spewing drunk upstairs. After laying her on the sofa, she went to fetch a towel and sleepwear. When she came out again, Yu Wei was already fast asleep.
Ji Fuyi: “……”
Why the hell did she bring her back?
This woman was a walking disaster. Couldn’t sit still for a second.
“Hey, wake up.” Ji Fuyi nudged her. “You’ll catch a cold here.”
Yu Wei didn’t budge, and Ji Fuyi sighed in frustration.
She shoved a throw pillow under her and watched her curl up on the couch like a tiny ball, kind of cute—but then the scent of mint slowly filled the air.
Yu Wei had released her pheromones again, an unconscious protective instinct while she slept.
Ji Fuyi’s knees went weak. Heat flushed her face, her breathing quickened. She bit her lip and patted Yu Wei’s cheek.
She needed to wake her up. This couldn’t continue.
But Yu Wei didn’t react. Ji Fuyi was getting mad now. She was knocked out cold while her scent flew all over the place—comfortably asleep while Ji Fuyi suffered.
Ji Fuyi grabbed a pheromone suppressant from the sofa and sprayed it on herself… only to realize the bottle was empty.
Nothing came out except a faint mist.
The minty scent in the air got even stronger. It smelled so good that Ji Fuyi was breathless—overwhelmed yet craving more.
Too hot.
Far too hot.
Her breaths were short, her skin flushed. She glanced at Yu Wei’s lips, suddenly wanting to kiss her.
No, she told herself. Kissing her while she’s asleep is out of line.
Driven by the last shred of rationality, Ji Fuyi remembered there was an unopened suppressant under the coffee table. She fished it out and sprayed it all over her neck. The bitter scent of wormwood finally overpowered the mint, giving her a moment of relief.
She bent down again, determined to wake Yu Wei.
“Wake up. You can’t sleep here—go to the guest room.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Yu Wei grabbed her wrist and yanked her onto the couch—pinning her underneath, looking down from above.
Ji Fuyi stared at her in silence. Her mind flashed a giant neon sign: Why did I decide to take care of this woman today?!
Yu Wei still wasn’t fully awake. Her big eyes stared into Ji Fuyi’s, confused.
“Jiejie… why are you everywhere I go?”
Ji Fuyi: “……”
Excuse me? This is my house.
She said weakly, “Get off me.”
“Huh?”
Yu Wei sounded confused, as if she hadn’t realized what position they were in. She even nuzzled Ji Fuyi’s cheek. Ji Fuyi’s breath caught—her heart racing even faster.
It was too hot. She shifted uncomfortably. They were so close. Every breath felt thick and sweet, heating her from the inside out.
“Get up…” Ji Fuyi’s voice was soft and weak, all the earlier sternness gone. The heat she’d just forced down surged back stronger than ever.
If she were awake, and if…
But before Ji Fuyi could finish the thought, Yu Wei’s arm gave out. She collapsed on top of her—fast asleep again.
Ji Fuyi: I am going to lose my mind.
Trapped under the sleeping woman, Ji Fuyi was helpless.
Why did this happen?
Why did she even bring this drunk home?
She poked at Yu Wei again—no use. Out cold. And now hugging her tightly, muttering in her sleep, “So sweet… smells so good…”
Ji Fuyi froze, afraid that any movement might trigger more nonsense.
She really wanted to grab the suppressant and spray Yu Wei right in the face, but she was completely pinned and couldn’t move an inch.
All she could do was think about it.
Staring up at the white ceiling, Ji Fuyi questioned every recent life choice that led to this point.
That night, Ji Fuyi was held hostage in Yu Wei’s arms. No blanket. No conversation. Just minty pheromones and regret.
…
The next morning, when Yu Wei woke up, Ji Fuyi was already gone.
Clutching her aching head, she looked around in confusion. Where was she?!
Yu Wei tiptoed around the unfamiliar apartment, finding no clues. Something felt very wrong. She had only just returned to the country, and last night she got wasted over Ji Fuyi. Now she was waking up in a random place?
…Wait. Hold on.
Was this Ji Fuyi’s house?!
Yu Wei panicked.
Did Ji Fuyi see her drunk mess last night? Did she take her home?! And then what happened?
She couldn’t remember a thing!
Did she accidentally mark Ji Fuyi in a drunken stupor?! That would be a disaster!
Clutching her head, Yu Wei howled in the living room. She’d only been back a few days—how did things spiral like this?! She’d lived abroad for years, kept things casual, never had a situation like this.
Now she was panicking.
Ji Fuyi’s beautiful eyes flashed in her memory—smirking, teasing, distant and close all at once. That strange feeling surfaced again, making her heart flutter.
Maybe she should call Ji Fuyi…
But what would she even say?
What if Ji Fuyi was on set and couldn’t answer? She kept finding excuses to delay making the call, but deep down, she knew—she’d have to do it eventually.
After moping around Ji Fuyi’s place for a while, Yu Wei finally dialed her number.
Ji Fuyi picked up quickly, her voice calm. “What is it?”
Yu Wei: “…Um… did something happen last night?”
