I Woke Up And Found Myself Married - Chapter 51
Hearing those words, Yu Wei froze.
She thought she must have misheard and couldn’t help but ask again, “What did you say?”
Standing in front of her, Ji Fuyi wore a serious expression and still held a tablet in her hand. But everything in Yu Wei’s eyes seemed to blur and waver, as if enclosed in a bubble—separated by a misty layer she couldn’t see through. She wanted to reach out, but was afraid it might shatter.
Seeing Yu Wei dazed like that, Ji Fuyi waved her hand in front of her and repeated:
“I said, I’m going to make our marriage public.”
Seeing Yu Wei still standing motionless, she continued to explain:
“Their original plan was to hide this and cover up that. I didn’t want that, so I told them to redo it. Public is just better.”
Yu Wei numbly nodded. Of course she knew that going public was a good thing—she wanted it too. She definitely wanted it. It would be best if the whole world knew she was married to Ji Fuyi.
If everyone knew Ji Fuyi was her legal wife, then no one would dare try to take her away.
But… would suddenly going public really be okay?
Yu Wei, slowly coming down from her shock, finally found her voice. When she spoke, her tone was still trembling.
“Isn’t going public… a little too sudden?”
“You think it’s too sudden?”
Ji Fuyi’s expression turned cold in an instant, as if someone had poured a bucket of ice water over her head.
She reined in her emotions and quietly looked at Yu Wei. Her decision to go public had come after much consideration. Whether from the perspective of the present or the future, it was the best choice.
What did Yu Wei mean by that question? Did she not want to go public?
The moment that thought surfaced, she saw Yu Wei shaking her head furiously, saying,
“Of course I don’t think it’s too sudden! I’ve been dying to go public—then everyone will know you’re mine and mine alone.”
“It’s just… you’re a huge celebrity, and suddenly announcing that you’re married—will people even be able to handle it? Right now they’re only cursing me. What if they start cursing you too?”
“They’ll have to handle it, whether they like it or not.”
Ji Fuyi let out a cold chuckle, which somehow made her look even more stunning. She set down the tablet and stood up to change her clothes.
“What movies I act in, what I eat, what I do, who I marry—those are all my choices. The public can give their opinions, but they don’t get to control me.”
With that, she walked into the bathroom to freshen up.
Yu Wei listened to the sound of running water and couldn’t help but think: Why hadn’t she stopped her earlier and kissed her before letting her go?
Although Ji Fuyi had once said she only liked her “just a tiny bit,” Yu Wei felt that the way she acted didn’t match the words she said.
Who would risk everything and publicly announce their marriage just because they had a “tiny bit” of affection?
Yu Wei’s heart was full of sweetness, like she had eaten several cotton candies in a row—soft, fluffy, and floating on air.
The sky outside was a brilliant blue, with a few white clouds drifting by. Yu Wei opened the balcony door, took a deep breath of fresh air, then immediately shut it again, sealing out the heat.
“It’s so hot outside—hotter than yesterday. I don’t know how people can still go walk on the beach. The sand must be scorching.”
Ji Fuyi had just come out of the bathroom when she heard Yu Wei’s string of complaints. Looking toward the dining table, she saw sushi and steak already laid out, along with coconuts and jackfruit. The colors were vibrant and well-matched.
“If you don’t want to go out, we can go later tonight.”
Ji Fuyi sat down at the table, but didn’t feel hungry at all.
Normally, she found sushi adorable and delicious. But today, just looking at the raw fish made her feel queasy.
Yu Wei had already started cutting her steak. With graceful movements, she sliced it into small pieces, then divided half onto another white porcelain plate and pushed it toward Ji Fuyi.
“I cut it for you. I know you hate cutting food.”
Ji Fuyi looked at the plate in front of her. The beef had beautiful marbling, was perfectly seared on the outside, and remained a vibrant red inside.
It was paired with basil leaves and cherry tomatoes, lightly sprinkled with white pepper—exactly how she liked it.
But today, everything on the table felt off.
She frowned, and the moment her eyes landed on the rare steak, a wave of nausea washed over her. She instinctively stood up and rushed to the bathroom. Gripping the sink, she tried to throw up—but nothing came out.
“What’s wrong? Do you feel nauseous?”
Yu Wei hurried over, flustered. She had never seen Ji Fuyi like this before. Her mind raced, recalling the doctor’s instructions. She opened the fridge, pulled out two lemons, sliced them quickly, and handed one to Ji Fuyi.
“The doctor said sniffing lemon helps with morning sickness. Try it.”
Hearing the words “morning sickness,” Ji Fuyi felt a whirlpool of emotions rise in her chest.
She never dreamed those two words would apply to her—but now, she didn’t have to dream.
Another wave of nausea hit her. She stared down at the sink again, but still, nothing came out—only some bitter acid that made her throat burn.
She couldn’t even speak. She simply took the lemon Yu Wei handed her and held it near her cheek. The fresh citrus scent filled her nose, and gradually, the intense nausea began to subside.
She waved her hand and said weakly, “I’m fine.”
Yu Wei looked at her pale face, still worried. “Really?”
“Mm.” Ji Fuyi looked up slightly and said, “You should go out. I’ll be there in a moment.”
“I’ll stay with you.”
Yu Wei didn’t want to leave. She gently supported Ji Fuyi by the waist and rubbed her back softly.
“No need.” Ji Fuyi hesitated, a bit embarrassed. “I don’t want you to see me like this.”
She didn’t want Yu Wei to see her in such a disheveled state—not just out of embarrassment, but also out of fear.
She had never shown Yu Wei anything but her best self. What if Yu Wei saw her like this—pale, vomiting, weak? What would she think?
“You don’t want me to?” Yu Wei asked, looking conflicted.
She wanted to respect Ji Fuyi’s wishes, but it hurt her to see Ji Fuyi struggling alone.
“Can I stay with you? I don’t want you to suffer by yourself.”
“If you really want to stay… then okay.”
Seeing Yu Wei so insistent, Ji Fuyi couldn’t say no. She let Yu Wei hold her gently and rub her back until the nausea completely faded.
“I’m really okay now,” Ji Fuyi said as she splashed cold water on her face, not caring at all about her usual skincare rituals.
Yu Wei was still worried. She had stayed over at Ji Fuyi’s place before and knew her elaborate skincare routine usually took over thirty minutes. But now, she was just splashing water on her face—it felt so careless.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” she asked, trying not to sound too anxious.
“Mm.”
Ji Fuyi still held the lemon to her cheek. Its refreshing scent made her feel better.
But as soon as she stepped into the dining room and saw the food again, she immediately felt nauseous all over.
She took a step back and turned toward the living room. “I don’t think I can look at raw food right now. I’ll skip it.”
Yu Wei nodded and sat with her on the couch, turning on the TV and handing her a pack of sunflower seeds.
Seeing Ji Fuyi start to snack, Yu Wei called room service again—this time ordering only Chinese food—and made a mental note: no more raw foods around Ji Fuyi.
While waiting for the food, Yu Wei leaned on Ji Fuyi and casually asked:
“You haven’t eaten anything since waking up, have you?”
“Hm?” Ji Fuyi was focused on the variety show on TV, absentmindedly nodding. “Nope. I just woke up and got bombarded with calls. By the way, this show is actually pretty good. The guests are interesting.”
Who cared about the show right now?! Yu Wei internally rolled her eyes.
She walked to the fridge, pulled out a carton of milk, warmed it in a bowl of water until it was room temperature, poured in some cereal, and brought the bowl back to the sofa.
“Here, eat something.”
“Huh?”
Ji Fuyi accepted the bowl without protest and started spooning cereal into her mouth.
“You gave me sushi and steak just a minute ago. Now I’m down to cereal?” she teased.
“Well, whose fault is it for skipping breakfast?”
Yu Wei glared at her. She knew Ji Fuyi often skipped breakfast. Whenever she was around, she’d always make sure she ate—but she looked away for one second today and she skipped it again.
“If you don’t eat breakfast, you can’t even throw up properly.”
“You want me to throw up?” Ji Fuyi looked at her in disbelief.
“No! I mean vomiting on an empty stomach is really bad for your throat,” Yu Wei softened her tone and held her close. “Don’t skip breakfast, okay? It’s not good for you.”
Room service arrived at the perfect time and laid out the food on the coffee table.
Ji Fuyi immediately put down her cereal and dug into a bowl of plain noodle soup. She found that since becoming pregnant, she had no resistance to anything light and savory.
Yu Wei watched her eat and had no appetite for such bland food herself. Nostalgia was fine once in a while, but eating like this every day? No way.
She grabbed a large bowl, piled in her sliced steak, and started eating while wondering: If Ji Fuyi only wants plain soup now, what should she prepare next time?
With her limited cooking skills, Yu Wei couldn’t come up with an answer.
So she messaged the doctor and successfully received a full meal plan from a nutritionist, which she sent to the hotel and began following.
After the variety show ended, Ji Fuyi finally received the PR proposal from her management company.
She read the file carefully, flipping through the plans again and again. Yu Wei watched her serious expression and didn’t dare interrupt.
But just knowing that she was reviewing how they’d publicly announce their marriage made Yu Wei extremely nervous.
How were they going to do it?
Her curiosity tortured her until Ji Fuyi finally finished reading.
Just as Ji Fuyi set down the tablet, Yu Wei eagerly snuggled up to her and hugged her arm.
“So? How are we announcing it?”
Ji Fuyi didn’t keep it a secret. She showed Yu Wei the plan she had chosen.
Her management company was truly top-tier. The plan was detailed—from when to announce, to predicted fan reactions, to how to handle them, and timing of follow-up press releases—everything was accounted for.
Ji Fuyi had chosen the most stable option. The wording of the press release was gentle, with a warm tone that radiated blessings and happiness.
Yu Wei read through the plan and was practically in love with it.
Even though it was just a digital file, without a printed copy, she felt the genuine care Ji Fuyi had put into it.
She even wanted to print it out and keep it forever.
Ji Fuyi saw her odd smile and asked, “What’s wrong? You don’t like this one? You can pick another.”
“It’s not that I don’t like it.”
Yu Wei blushed, her ears turning slightly red. She lowered her voice.
“I just like it too much.”
Ji Fuyi chuckled. It reminded her again how much Yu Wei resembled a fluffy little animal—adorable and soft.
“I got it.”
She reached out and patted Yu Wei’s head.
“I’ll go with this one, then. I’ll send it to them now.”
“Okay!”
Yu Wei agreed sweetly and sat by her side. As Ji Fuyi lowered her head to work, she leaned in and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
“What was that for?”
Ji Fuyi looked up, smiling.
“Nothing.” Yu Wei shook her head. She couldn’t really explain what she was feeling—it was like walking on clouds, tipsy on cotton candy. “I just wanted to kiss you.”
“Is that so?” Ji Fuyi asked casually.
“Yep,” Yu Wei blinked, very serious. “I just wanted to kiss you.”
“You’re not excited?”
Ji Fuyi waved her tablet in front of her, showing a message from Lin Xia with a simple reply: OK.
“We’re officially going public, you know.”
“A little excited!”
Yu Wei nodded furiously, then shook her head.
“But only a little. I already know how we’re going public, and the plan is so thorough. It’s just sending out a press release—we don’t even have to do anything. So I’m not that nervous… I mean, not nervous at all.”
“Nervous?” Ji Fuyi raised an eyebrow.
“Not nervous!” Yu Wei corrected herself quickly. “Why would I be nervous? I’m just a little excited. After all, I’m married to a celebrity. And now, everyone’s going to know our secret!”
“Mm.”
Ji Fuyi put down the tablet and held up her phone.
“They know now.”
“Something like a wedding announcement—of course I had to do it myself.”
