I Woke Up And Found Myself Married - Chapter 52
Yu Wei looked at her with a smile while she held up her phone and couldn’t help but ask:
“What did you post?”
“Nothing much,” Ji Fuyi lowered her head, casually tapping on her phone as she replied nonchalantly, “Just a Weibo post.”
She spoke lightly, not even lifting her eyelids, but Yu Wei’s heart skipped a beat. She immediately leaned over Ji Fuyi to grab her own phone.
As soon as Yu Wei opened Weibo, she saw the search bar at the top displaying bold characters: “Ji Fuyi announces marriage.” Her heartbeat instantly picked up.
She clicked into the search page directly, and the very first post was from Ji Fuyi.
Ji Fuyi had posted a wedding photo of the two of them, with only a simple caption: “I’m married”, followed by a heart emoji.
It was a straightforward post, but the comments and shares were skyrocketing. Yu Wei clicked into the comments, and the top one read:
“This is a still from a movie, right? Is Fuyi about to release a new film?”
“Definitely looks like a still,” Yu Wei puffed out her cheeks in dissatisfaction and said with a tone full of disdain, “You said you’re married, and they really still refuse to accept the truth.”
“No helping it,” Ji Fuyi patted her head, “There weren’t any signs leading up to this.”
Yu Wei scrolled through the comments again, only to see that the top comment was gaining likes and replies rapidly. She clicked in for a closer look.
“This is a still from a movie, right? Is Fuyi about to release a new film?”
@JiFuyi: “No, I really got married.”
Yu Wei was stunned.
Under Ji Fuyi’s serious reply, a flood of comments started pouring in under the top comment, making Yu Wei’s eyes spin.
“Finally got noticed by the goddess, only to find out the goddess is announcing she’s married🥹🥹🥹”
“This is brutal. Is there anything worse than this?”
“Why are you all laughing? We’re all equally heartbroken watching the goddess get married.”
Yu Wei looked at the pile of comments about how miserable everyone was and couldn’t help laughing. She leaned against Ji Fuyi with a smug grin and said:
“They’re all so miserable. The goddess got married, and I’m the lucky one.”
Ji Fuyi glanced at her gloating face and was a bit speechless.
“You’re that happy?”
“Of course! I’m the ultimate winner here—I got the beauty,” Yu Wei beamed, her face glowing with joy. “So what if it started as a contract marriage!”
Ji Fuyi shook her head, looking helpless, and went back to reading the documents on her tablet.
Yu Wei didn’t feel ignored at all. Since Ji Fuyi was working seriously, she happily went back to reading the comments.
She had never paid attention to comments before, but now it felt like a whole new world had opened up to her.
“Fuyi got married without saying a word, I can’t accept this!”
You can’t accept it, but I’m thrilled, Yu Wei thought to herself as she liked the comment and kept scrolling.
“Why?! She said she’d never get married! And if she had to, why is her wife so beautiful?!”
Who said she’d never get married? Yu Wei shook her head at the first half of the comment, but perked up at the second half. Yeah, her wife really is gorgeous. This commenter’s got taste! She liked this one too.
“Weiwei?”
Ji Fuyi called out to her while she was giggling over her phone.
Yu Wei snapped out of it and realized she’d gotten too absorbed in reading. Embarrassed, she chuckled and asked:
“What’s up?”
“Nothing, just saw you were really into your phone,” Ji Fuyi said, then hesitated a bit before continuing, “I’ve got a video meeting. The team wants you to join too. Are you okay with that?”
Yu Wei nodded. “Of course!”
Lin Xia, on the other side of the internet, was practically dying from stress. These two looked so relaxed, did they really have no idea what kind of chaos they’d caused?
Maybe Yu Wei really didn’t know, but could Ji Fuyi possibly not know?
Ever since Ji Fuyi debuted, everything she did was scrutinized under a magnifying glass. She could end up on the trending page for a single day just by stepping outside. The most ridiculous incident was when Ji Fuyi ate an ice cream on the street, got snapped by a passerby, and the photo went viral. That day, the trending topic was literally: Ji Fuyi eats ice cream!
Lin Xia still remembered the madness. People were flooding Ji Fuyi’s comment section with ice cream brand suggestions, and some even posted dozens of exclamation marks in shock: So Ji Fuyi eats ice cream too?!
Lin Xia had no words. What, did they think Ji Fuyi was a celestial being who lived on dew? Was ice cream consumption really that mind-blowing?
And now, with today’s huge news, the second Ji Fuyi posted the wedding announcement, media phones started bombarding their office.
Too bad Yu Yiyi was still in a meeting, and with her boss absent, Lin Xia was like an ant on a hot pan—desperate—until she made an international call to Ji Fuyi.
Ji Fuyi was calm and collected as ever. She said:
“You mean the Weibo post?”
“Announcing your marriage publicly—shouldn’t that be our job?”
Lin Xia nearly exploded. What was the point of their carefully prepared campaign strategy then?
Ji Fuyi and Yu Yiyi had already agreed to go public. Lin Xia didn’t mind that. She just hadn’t expected Ji Fuyi to go rogue the second Yu Yiyi stepped into a meeting, posting on Weibo without waiting for the official statement.
Lin Xia honestly felt like Ji Fuyi had changed ever since meeting Yu Wei.
Ji Fuyi used to be such a perfect artist. Her Weibo was all work—films and awards. She never posted anything personal and was 100% focused on acting. But now? Now she personally posted: “I’m married!”
The moment the video meeting started, Ji Fuyi saw Lin Xia’s exasperated face and asked kindly:
“What’s wrong? Too tired from work? Want a few days off?”
Lin Xia rolled her eyes so hard she nearly saw stars. What is this completely unbothered tone?!
“No, just that since you suddenly posted, I’ve been flooded with calls.”
“Oh,” Ji Fuyi glanced at her phone. It was still in airplane mode. Even though the red notification dots on WeChat were dancing nonstop, at least the calls were blocked. “You could’ve just hung up.”
Lin Xia dared not yell at her and simply asked:
“Didn’t we make a whole plan? Why’d you suddenly go solo with that post?”
Ji Fuyi answered in the same calm voice:
“It’s simple. If you post the official statement, it doesn’t feel sincere. It has to come from me first. Then you can follow with the announcement.”
Honestly, that logic… wasn’t wrong.
But looking at the poor support staff dragged in from customer service just to answer phones, Lin Xia still couldn’t laugh.
Yu Yiyi had just finished her meeting and rushed in. Her voice came before her.
“She posted it, didn’t she?”
“Only you could predict her,” Lin Xia sighed. “Yeah, she posted. Weibo exploded.”
“Then go ahead and release the official statement,” Yu Yiyi said as she joined the video call.
On screen, she saw two heads leaning together—clearly Ji Fuyi and Yu Wei sitting side by side—and even she was caught off guard.
“This must be Miss Yu?”
Yu Wei responded quickly, “Hi, Sister Yu. Sorry for the trouble.”
“No trouble at all,” Yu Yiyi smiled, “We’re here to support Fuyi.”
After the official statement went out, reposts and comments surged.
Clearly, fans had been camping out on the company account, waiting for an explanation. To their surprise, instead of a denial, the studio confirmed it: Ji Fuyi really was married.
“It’s actually true?! Not a joke, not a movie promo?”
“Damn, my heart’s shattered. I can’t believe this really happened…”
“And her partner’s not even from the industry! CP fans, take the L!”
Yu Yiyi skimmed the comments and said:
“Looks like the emotional reactions are pretty stable.”
Ji Fuyi nodded. “That’s good, right?”
Yu Yiyi breathed a sigh of relief, instructed the staff to follow the original plan, and ended the video call.
After the screen went dark, Yu Wei let out a long sigh. “So that’s all it takes? I was actually a little nervous.”
“Nervous about what?”
Ji Fuyi patted her back and said:
“In a PR crisis, artists shouldn’t do anything. Just leave it to the professionals.”
“No, I mean—I was afraid she’d yell at me.”
Yu Wei shrank her neck a little, looking like she’d just dodged a bullet.
“If I hadn’t married you, none of this would’ve happened.”
“What kind of logic is that?” Ji Fuyi laughed, half-exasperated. “Would you rather be treated like a stalker fan?”
“Of course not! If I had to worry about getting caught every time we went out, or getting labeled a sasaeng just because someone took a picture, how would I even live?”
As she spoke, Yu Wei picked up her phone again.
“By the way, did they find the person who leaked that photo?”
“Hard to say. So far, all we know is that it came from someone in our own circle of friends. That makes things tricky,” Ji Fuyi said, showing her a report from the tech department. “They used a proxy IP—very cautious. Routed through several layers.”
Yu Wei looked at the report. One of the IPs was based in Africa.
That detail made her pause.
Very few people would route through Africa using a proxy. But once, after she had returned from studying abroad, she had mentioned during a get-together how hard it was to submit assignments while in China and how she wanted a better VPN.
At the time, Xu Sihan had introduced her to a skilled technician.
That person had set up a route for her through Africa, saying the VPN servers were too crowded, and going through Africa would be more efficient for her large file uploads.
Seeing this same routing pattern again, Yu Wei couldn’t help but think of Xu Sihan.
Plus, the original Weibo post had included a screenshot from their WeChat Moments. Someone in their mutual friends circle had leaked it.
And Xu Sihan was one of them.
But… why would she do that?
They had been friends for years. Back in high school, Xu Sihan had taken good care of her. Even though she had acted a little weird during the last get-together when she found out about the marriage, would she really go so far as to leak the photo?
Yu Wei didn’t want to believe her friend would do something like that. She shook her head and asked Ji Fuyi:
“This is pretty complicated… Can I get a copy of the report?”
She planned to reach out to that technician and ask if Xu Sihan had contacted him recently.
Ji Fuyi didn’t think much of it and sent her the report. “If we really can’t trace it, there’s nothing we can do. This kind of thing happens all the time.”
Yu Wei forced a smile. “It’s fine. We’ll just clean up our Moments. Anyone we don’t talk to regularly—remove them.”
Ji Fuyi nodded. “Already did. But now that it’s public, it doesn’t really matter anymore.”
Yu Wei read through the report again, feeling a mix of emotions.
She didn’t want to believe her friend had betrayed her, but the clues made it hard to ignore. She teetered between suspicion and trust, her mind growing restless.
On impulse, she opened Weibo again.
Now that the studio had posted the statement, even the fans who had refused to believe it had to accept it.
“Looks like Fuyi really found her happiness [heart emoji]. She’s never had any public relationships or scandals. I was honestly worried about her.”
“Waaahhh please stay happy forever! I still want to see more of Fuyi’s movies!”
Yu Wei scrolled through the company’s comment section. Seeing the flood of blessings finally put her at ease. She checked Ji Fuyi’s post again.
Underneath her post, the comments had shifted from all kinds of speculation and disbelief to overwhelmingly supportive messages.
Yu Wei felt much better… until she saw one particular comment that stood out:
“Wasn’t this girl previously exposed as a sasaeng fan? The original post said she was vacationing with Fuyi—if that’s not stalking, what is? And now they’re married??”
