I Woke Up And Found Myself Married - Chapter 6
“What do you want to happen?”
Ji Fuyi’s voice remained cold, devoid of any emotion.
“I’ve got something to do. Hanging up.”
She ended the call in a second. Yu Wei stared at her phone, momentarily unable to process what had just happened.
…That was way too heartless!
What on earth did she do yesterday?! Yu Wei felt like her heart was about to jump out of her chest. Could it really be like she feared—during their drunken escapade, she lost control and actually… marked Ji Fuyi?
Holding her phone tightly, Yu Wei stood inside Ji Fuyi’s home, at a total loss.
Just as her thoughts were running wild, her phone suddenly rang loudly, startling her so much she nearly dropped it.
Ji Fuyi’s name lit up the screen…
Yu Wei answered the call with trembling hands.
“Feed the cat for me,” Ji Fuyi said coolly. “The cat food is in the kitchen cabinet. Thanks.”
Then she hung up again.
Yu Wei: “?????”
What the heck is this!!!
Ji Fuyi had just hung up, so she probably still had time. Yu Wei seized the moment and called back.
Sure enough, Ji Fuyi picked up and asked, “What is it?”
“Nothing, just wanted to invite you to dinner!” Yu Wei tried her best to sound upbeat. “Thanks for yesterday…”
No matter what, Ji Fuyi brought her back when she was drunk. She had to express some gratitude. Besides, if she really had marked her, seeing her in person would clear it all up.
“It wasn’t much trouble.”
Thinking back to yesterday’s scene, Ji Fuyi still felt a bit of a headache.
The burning breath, the dangerously close distance, the quickening heartbeat… and then, Yu Wei, completely passed out.
Ji Fuyi sighed. “No need to treat me to a meal, it was no big deal.”
“Then is there anywhere you’d like to go? I have to thank you somehow~” Yu Wei softened her voice. “Anywhere is fine.”
Was she… acting cute? Ji Fuyi momentarily spaced out, almost agreeing instinctively.
“Then…” She quickly snapped back and switched to her usual cold tone, “Forget it. You going home promptly is the best thank-you.”
“Wow, you don’t have to be this heartless…” Yu Wei’s voice dropped. “Fine, I’ll leave after I feed the cat.”
She dejectedly said goodbye and hung up. Ji Fuyi, hearing her disappointed tone, felt a twinge of worry.
Yu Wei… really did sound disappointed…
Before she could dwell on it, the production assistant approached.
“Fuyi, the next scene is about to start,” the assistant said gently. “This’ll be the last shot of the day.”
Ji Fuyi took the lemon water from her hand, smiled, and said, “So we’re done after today? Has the revised schedule been finalized?”
“Not yet, the directors are still reviewing the rough cut,” the assistant shook her head. “You’ll still have to endure it for a while longer.”
Ji Fuyi nodded and walked with her to the set.
Acting was no easy job—it was physical labor. A single film could take two months to shoot. Add in the reshoots after rough cuts, and you’d be back and forth at the studio for three months. The endless rehearsals were exhausting, and rest was rare.
Even after winning several Best Actress awards, Ji Fuyi still had to stay for reshoots. As the lead, she had the most screen time and the least rest.
Yunshan wasn’t a genre film. From the director to the crew, everyone had major awards under their belt—they wanted to do something different. While the main storyline was shot smoothly, there were endless debates over the finer details. Several of the current reshoot scenes had already been redone multiple times.
The story was set in Kowloon Walled City, chronicling the turbulent life of a girl named Ah Yun. The current scene was the moment she, now grown up, dyed her hair for the first time, desperately wanting to leave the place.
Ji Fuyi played Ah Yun from age eighteen to fifty-eight. This scene had already been shot three times—they were trying a new approach today.
Her skin was flawless, so she wore only light makeup. Her delicate appearance looked no different from an eighteen-year-old.
“Fuyi, ready?” the director asked as she walked over.
“Ready.”
Ji Fuyi walked into the filming area and sat on the steps, turning her side profile to the camera.
The camera moved from the ground up, capturing first her slender ankles in worn calfskin shoes, gently tapping against the steps.
“Ah Yun, what color is that hair of yours?” came an old woman’s voice through the mic. “Looks creepy.”
“Cool blue, Grandma. It’s the trendiest outside,” Ji Fuyi said playfully, her confidence a bit lacking. “I’m heading out to find work soon.”
“Work? What kind of work can a young girl do?” Grandma was clearly disapproving. “Better off patching together enough money to study somewhere.”
Ah Yun nodded but didn’t respond.
The camera moved up her long legs, to the red skirt with yellow flowers that reached her calves, then to her tiny waist. A white blouse was tucked into her skirt, cool-blue hair fluttering in the wind, her chin lifted slightly, eyes full of defiance.
“Cut!” the director shouted.
Ji Fuyi relaxed her stiff posture and swung her legs slightly. “How was it?” she called out.
“That was good,” the director nodded. “Props, change the set!”
Ji Fuyi hopped down the steps, rolled her shoulders, and walked over to the makeup artist to get touched up.
“You’ve got such great skin, Fuyi,” the makeup artist said as she worked. “Now this is what ‘skin like jade’ really means.”
Ji Fuyi only smiled in response.
After the touch-up, she returned to her dressing room. Her assistant pulled out a suppressant spray and handed it to her. Ji Fuyi closed her eyes and gave her neck a thorough spray.
“Is this okay?” Lin Xia asked worriedly. “I heard using too much suppressant isn’t good?”
She was a Beta and couldn’t smell Ji Fuyi’s scent, but she would never forget the day Ji Fuyi presented as an Omega—the entire office was dead silent, like the sky had fallen.
Ji Fuyi debuted at sixteen. Her first film won her Best Newcomer. Everything had gone smoothly, and the company had always cultivated her as an Alpha. But her presentation was repeatedly delayed until, at twenty-five, it finally arrived—she was an Omega.
The higher-ups were stunned. Their carefully crafted Alpha goddess… turned out to be an O?!
Absolutely unacceptable! This had to be hidden!
Since then, Ji Fuyi carried suppressant spray everywhere and seriously pretended to be an Alpha.
“They say it’s not great, but there’s no choice.”
After dousing herself, Ji Fuyi sniffed herself in satisfaction. The wormwood-scented suppressant wasn’t commonly used—she could pass it off as perfume.
“Who would’ve thought I’d end up an Omega?”
As soon as she said that, she remembered… there was someone who knew.
Yu Wei.
Yu Wei not only knew she was an Omega—they’d even done it.
Uh?
Flashes of those inappropriate moments popped into her mind, and Ji Fuyi felt her cheeks grow warm.
It’s been days. Why was she still thinking about it? That didn’t make sense.
Ji Fuyi shook her head and put away the suppressant.
She’d have to tell Yu Wei not to mention anything about their relationship… Ji Fuyi sighed, feeling a headache coming on.
She left the dressing room and returned to the set. The final scene of the day wrapped quickly, and Ji Fuyi finally relaxed and went to the dressing room to remove her makeup.
Just as she finished, she got a call from Yan Shu.
Yan Shu: “Dinner tonight—coming?”
Ji Fuyi had a shoot tomorrow and didn’t want to attend any gatherings. “Not going. I have a scene tomorrow.”
Yan Shu: “Figures. If it’s not a weekend, you’re impossible to drag out. But…”
She paused and added, “Tonight’s Weiwei’s welcome dinner. Do me a favor?”
“…Alright.” Ji Fuyi sighed. Since it was for Weiwei, she couldn’t really refuse. “Didn’t we already have a welcome dinner last time?”
“That was the one we threw her. This time she’s throwing her own,” Yan Shu explained quickly. “Totally different vibe. I’ll send you the address.”
Moments later, Ji Fuyi’s phone buzzed with a message. She stared at the address for ten seconds. Yu Wei really was something. Who throws their own welcome dinner?
Lin Xia dropped her off, left the keys, and reminded her to call if she drank—she’d come back to pick her up.
The dinner was at a private restaurant, tucked away in a hidden spot. It was invitation-only. A winding corridor led to the main hall, flanked by small bridges, flowing water, and decorative rocks—absolutely picturesque.
When Ji Fuyi walked into the private room, it was clear the crowd had already gone through a round of food.
“Fuyi’s here! So late again!” Yan Shu called out. “Look over the menu—order more!”
The place was a traditional Chinese restaurant, classically decorated with redwood furniture and elegant touches everywhere. Yet somehow, even a rowdy bunch of rich kids hadn’t been kicked out.
“They don’t kick you out for being so noisy?” Ji Fuyi asked while scanning the menu.
“Oh, Weiwei booked out the entire place.”
Ji Fuyi: “…”
Alright then. Young people—you’ll never figure them out.
Her eyes landed on Yu Wei, and just then, Yu Wei looked back at her. That probing look made Ji Fuyi uncomfortable, and she quickly averted her gaze.
…That kid’s probably still thinking about that night.
Yu Wei sat at the head of the table, not exactly close by, but even from this distance, Ji Fuyi could smell the faint scent of mint drifting over.
She tried to act unfazed and kept eating quietly.
The conversation kept circling back to Yu Wei—and eventually landed on Ji Fuyi.
“Hey, that night we were drinking, why’d Fuyi leave with Weiwei?”
Ji Fuyi calmly replied, “Shushu asked me to look after her.”
“Oh~ Then why does Weiwei call you ‘sis’?” someone teased. “Seems suspicious~”
Ji Fuyi was even calmer: “She’s a fan.”
Yu Wei: “…”
She came prepared for this, huh?!
Unlike Ji Fuyi, Yu Wei wasn’t shy at all. Since Ji Fuyi walked in, she’d been staring.
Yu Wei’s burning gaze landed on Ji Fuyi like tiny flames, starting at her ears and spreading down her spine—all the way to her ankles, making her go weak.
Ji Fuyi looked down and sent Yu Wei a message: “Don’t look at me like that.”
“Why?” Yu Wei replied instantly. “Reminded you of something?”
Ji Fuyi looked up and smiled at her, not wanting her to see through her.
Feeling the need for more suppressant, Ji Fuyi excused herself from the table and went out to find the powder room.
As soon as she left, Yu Wei followed her with some excuse.
Ji Fuyi entered the makeup room. Yu Wei pushed the door open and stepped in, casually closing it behind her.
The room instantly filled with the scent of mint, intertwined with a sweet watermelon fragrance. The air thickened with something unspoken.
Yu Wei walked straight up to her, braced herself on the chair, leaned in close—so close their lips were nearly touching.
Ji Fuyi: “……”
This little rascal—what exactly does she think she’s doing?!
