I Woke Up And Found Myself Married - Chapter 62
After showing her white sandcastle to Ji Fuyi, Yu Wei pulled her along to play with the sand again.
Before putting her hands into the sand, Ji Fuyi looked completely reluctant.
She stared at the white sand, her eyes full of doubt, and asked, “Are you sure it won’t burn my hands?”
“It won’t. Sand doesn’t get hot like that, and besides, this area is shaded from the sun.”
Yu Wei grabbed her hand, looking eager and excited.
Seeing Yu Wei’s expectant expression, Ji Fuyi, though still a little unwilling, didn’t want to see her disappointed.
She reached out and poked the sand with one finger.
Unexpectedly, it felt quite strange.
The sand was soft, but not like any other texture—when she touched it, it scattered and wrapped gently around her finger, slightly cool to the touch.
Ji Fuyi tried it a bit and realized it wasn’t as unpleasant as she imagined, so she said, “Fine, I’ll reluctantly help you build a castle.”
Then, she took the shovel from Yu Wei’s hand and started scooping sand, using a little crane to move it into place and drop it.
Watching her, Yu Wei said helplessly, “Reluctantly? You clearly look like you’re enjoying it.”
“You think I’m as childish as you?”
Ji Fuyi shot back without mercy, but her hands didn’t stop, still directing the crane to scoop the sand.
“I’m not childish. I just want to build a castle!”
Yu Wei pouted, then pointed at the remote in Ji Fuyi’s hand.
“Childish people are the ones playing with toys like that.”
Ji Fuyi shot her a glance, the corners of her lips curving into a smile, clearly saying “Say one more word and see what happens,” and asked,
“Who’s childish?”
Yu Wei instantly caved. She picked up another remote and began controlling a crane herself, saying dryly, “I’m childish. I play with little toys and build sandcastles. I’m the most childish person on this beach.”
Ji Fuyi laughed happily and continued filling the molds with sand, trying to shape a castle like Yu Wei had done. But no matter how hard she tried, the sand just wouldn’t cooperate—it remained a loose mess.
Yu Wei looked at her and smiled smugly.
“Want me to teach you?”
Ji Fuyi glanced at her, tilted her chin, and said, “Come here.”
Yu Wei had hoped Ji Fuyi would beg her a little, maybe ask for tips or something. She hadn’t expected Ji Fuyi’s attitude to be so matter-of-fact, like “If you don’t come over, it’s your loss.” Left with no choice, she obediently walked over, sat beside her, and held her hand.
Ji Fuyi let her do so, but commented, “Do you really have to hold my hand to teach me?”
Yu Wei earnestly began showing her how to pack the sand into molds to form neat blocks, which could then be assembled into a shaped castle.
“Of course! Otherwise, how would some people manage? I mean, you can’t even use a sand mold properly.”
Her tone was full of mockery.
Just as Ji Fuyi was about to retort, Yu Wei gave her a smug look that clearly said “What are you gonna do about it?”
Ji Fuyi thought about it—and realized she had no comeback…
Yu Wei slyly cleared a new patch of sand and guided her step by step through the building process. Her earlier messy pile sat nearby, making the contrast all the more embarrassing.
When Ji Fuyi fell silent, Yu Wei sighed dramatically.
“I really don’t know—when the baby grows up, who’s going to be better at building sandcastles, you or her?”
Ji Fuyi rolled her eyes.
“Of course she will. She had excellent prenatal education.”
Yu Wei: “?”
Seriously?
After finishing the sandcastle and taking a ton of photos, Yu Wei stood up, satisfied. Looking at the sunset, she said, “Let’s go back.”
Ji Fuyi naturally had no objections—she was tired and wanted to rest too.
Once back at the hotel, Yu Wei showered first, washing off the sand and sea scent. Feeling fresh, she lay on the sofa and started playing with her phone.
Lately, scrolling through Weibo had become her new hobby. There was always something fun to see, and today was no exception. After watching some adorable cat videos that melted her heart, she forwarded them to Ji Fuyi.
Ji Fuyi, soaking in the bathtub in the other bathroom, replied:
“So cute.“
Then she sent Yu Wei a picture of the little yellow duck sitting by the tub.
The photo showed just a bit of foam in the bathwater, but that little duck made Yu Wei’s heart flutter—it was too cute.
Imagining Ji Fuyi soaking in the tub with the duck made her want to run over and kiss her immediately.
As she kept browsing, Yu Wei opened her WeChat Moments out of habit and began mindlessly scrolling.
Her Moments feed was filled with familiar friends. She gave a few likes here and there, until she saw a new post from Ji Fuyi.
The caption was short and simple—just a single sentence.
Curious, she tapped on the photo… only to discover it was a candid shot of her playing in the sand!
Yu Wei instantly freaked out. Ji Fuyi had actually posted a sneak photo of her building sandcastles. Now everyone on her Moments would know she was a childish little kid!
Clutching her phone, Yu Wei stormed into the bathroom without even knocking.
“Why did you post my photo?!”
She fumed, “Now everyone knows I like playing in the sand!”
“Hmm?”
Ji Fuyi was still soaking in the tub. Her first reaction was to scoop up all the bubbles to cover herself.
The little yellow duck wobbled from the sudden waves and flopped face-first into the water.
“Am I not allowed?”
She looked up at Yu Wei and asked, “I can’t post your photo?”
Yu Wei’s angry momentum deflated instantly.
Seeing Ji Fuyi’s misty-eyed expression, her heart softened. She had probably startled her by barging in like that.
Ji Fuyi was still soaking. Two strands of golden hair clung to her cheeks, and her fair face was slightly flushed from the steam. She looked soft and delicate, making Yu Wei’s heart race.
Yu Wei shook her head and mumbled, “It’s not that… of course you can post it.”
“It’s just… now everyone knows I like playing in the sand. They’ll think I’m a total kid.”
“How is that childish?” Ji Fuyi chuckled.
Yu Wei still looked a little pouty.
“It’s super childish! I’m a grown adult playing with sand and building castles. Where’s my dominant CEO aura now?”
Ji Fuyi couldn’t help but laugh.
Sure, Yu Wei did own two branches of the Yu Corporation. Technically, she was a CEO—but dominant?
Ji Fuyi asked, “Are you sure you’re not misunderstanding yourself?”
“I’m not! I am a dominant CEO!”
Yu Wei slapped her chest and declared proudly,
“Now everyone knows I play with sand. It’s all your fault!”
“Okay, okay, it’s all my fault,” Ji Fuyi said through laughter.
“I’ll buy you coconut ice cream later, alright?”
Yu Wei nodded reluctantly.
“Fine. I forgive you.”
“So sweet,” Ji Fuyi smiled.
“Now go. I need to finish bathing.”
Yu Wei suddenly realized she had barged in uninvited. But the moment her eyes landed on Ji Fuyi again, she found it hard to look away.
Even though Ji Fuyi had covered herself in bubbles, there weren’t that many—her long legs were still fully visible. One glance, and Yu Wei was stunned by their elegance.
Her heart skipped, and her ears started to feel hot.
She quickly lowered her head and muttered, “I’m going.”
As she shut the door behind her, she heard Ji Fuyi laugh softly and say,
“You’re the one who barged in, yet you’re the one blushing.”
Yu Wei shouted from the other side, “Who said I’m blushing?!”
“If not, why’d you run off so fast?”
Ji Fuyi continued teasing as she seemed to stand up. Water droplets splashed back into the tub, making enticing sounds.
The shower began to run, and steam clouded up the frosted glass. Everything turned hazy—only a faint silhouette could be seen.
Leaning against the door, Yu Wei exhaled deeply.
“Fine. So what if I’m blushing? I just… overthought it.”
Her voice was drowned out by the water. Ji Fuyi didn’t hear it.
Later, Ji Fuyi came out wrapped in a bath towel and found Yu Wei on the couch with her laptop open, watching the news.
“…A formal investigation into Ji Corporation has begun.”
Hearing the familiar name from the computer, Ji Fuyi paused behind Yu Wei, who was so focused she didn’t notice her presence.
Yu Wei let out a long breath. It looked like the media had turned their attention toward Ji Corporation. With the investigation underway, Ji’s father wouldn’t have an easy time.
She closed the laptop—but when she turned around, she was startled to see Ji Fuyi standing behind her, having just watched the same news.
Just as she was about to speak, Ji Fuyi said coldly, “Play it again.”
Her voice was emotionless, icy enough to make Yu Wei’s heart skip a beat.
Nervously, Yu Wei opened the laptop again and replayed the news report.
The morning news from City B covered the Ji Corporation scandal for a full three minutes.
The female anchor reported in a solemn tone:
“Ji Corporation’s financial irregularities span multiple industries. According to the task force’s findings, their bad assets have far exceeded acceptable thresholds, severely impacting their IPO plans.”
Ji Fuyi let out a quiet scoff and muttered, “IPO plans? Wishful thinking.”
The news anchor continued:
“Our station requested an interview with Ji Corporation’s current CEO but was declined. The company stated that internal restructuring is underway and promised not to allow their bad assets to grow.”
“At present, Ji Corporation’s IPO has been put on hold. Stay tuned for further updates.”
When the news ended, Yu Wei wasn’t sure if she should close the page. Cautiously, she glanced at Ji Fuyi and asked, “Are you angry?”
Even though they had discussed this before, this was still about her family—and the report had been especially blunt. Would Ji Fuyi really not be upset?
Yu Wei couldn’t help but worry.
But Ji Fuyi shook her head.
“No.”
“If someone does something, they should take responsibility for it.”
Seeing the concern on Yu Wei’s face, Ji Fuyi actually felt a bit comforted. She reached out, gently patted Yu Wei’s head, and said:
“For example, when you do something good, you should be rewarded with a kiss.”
