I Woke Up And Found Myself Married - Chapter 8
“Hands off,” Ji Fuyi said flatly, “Buckle up.”
“Oh…” Yu Wei obediently withdrew her hand and sat properly in the passenger seat. “How come you’re free to have dinner tonight?”
“Isn’t it your welcome-back party?”
Ji Fuyi cracked the window slightly, letting the night breeze in to blow away the early summer heat.
“You planned it yourself, didn’t you?”
“Hahaha, I just like to have fun,” Yu Wei scratched her head, looking a bit sheepish. “I didn’t want to eat at home, so I made up an excuse to hang out with some friends.”
“Oh?”
At a red light, Ji Fuyi narrowed her eyes and glanced over at Yu Wei, the corners of her lips curving into a subtle smile.
“Or were you just looking for an excuse to ask me out?”
In an instant, Yu Wei’s face turned redder than the traffic light.
She hadn’t said anything—how did Ji Fuyi know?! And even if she knew, why say it out loud!
“I… I wasn’t! I mean, I was going to ask you out for dinner before, but then I figured if you didn’t want to, it’s fine! It’s not like I deliberately arranged a gathering and had my friends invite you just so I could see you or anything…”
Yu Wei panicked, her words tumbling out in a rush. Only after finishing did she realize she’d just exposed all her intentions.
Realizing it too late, she slapped a hand over her mouth. Oh god! What did she just say?!
Sure enough, Ji Fuyi let out a soft chuckle.
The light turned green, and she pressed the gas pedal. A cool breeze flowed in from the window, lifting her golden hair. Her red lips curled in amusement, glowing enchantingly under the dim streetlights. Yu Wei caught a glimpse and felt her heart race uncontrollably.
“That little head of yours is quite clever,” Ji Fuyi said in a light tone.
Yu Wei hung her head, her left hand absentmindedly rubbing her right, completely lost in thought.
But when she heard that line, she instantly snapped back.
“Who’s got a little head?!”
Ji Fuyi shrugged with a smile. “You, of course.”
Yu Wei: “…”
Is she really an Omega?! Yu Wei had never met one like this before. Weren’t Omegas supposed to be delicate, soft, easy to tease, gentle, pure, and sweet?
She glanced at Ji Fuyi again. Blonde hair, red lips, flawless skin, dressed in a silky black shirt, eyes focused on the road.
They were getting closer to Yu Wei’s house.
There wasn’t much time left to be together tonight. The thought made Yu Wei reluctant to part.
“Fuyi,” she called softly.
“Hmm?”
“You knew I did it on purpose,” Yu Wei looked at her profile, “so why did you still come?”
Ji Fuyi performed a beautiful swerve and parked neatly in a nearby spot. She turned to look at Yu Wei seriously.
“You tell me.”
Yu Wei hesitated. “Because… you wanted to?”
Ji Fuyi nodded silently.
Yu Wei stared at her. She realized Ji Fuyi’s eyes were a beautiful shade of amber.
Ji Fuyi was looking right back at her. Their gazes locked, tension simmering in the air. The crisp scent of mint intertwined with the sweetness of watermelon, making their breathing grow shallow, pulling them closer.
Yu Wei kissed her.
At first, it was a tentative kiss. Soft lips pressed gently together, breaths mingling—warm, unstable, and increasingly heated.
Ji Fuyi wanted to pull back, but it was too late. Her back was already against the seat, and she had nowhere to retreat. She could only let Yu Wei do as she pleased.
“Mm…”
Ji Fuyi tried to push her away, but her limbs had gone weak, her mind dizzy. The sweetness of the kiss seemed to seep into her bloodstream. She raised her arms and wrapped them around Yu Wei’s neck, her voice growing softer, more alluring.
The air thickened with sugary scent, wrapping around Yu Wei like a spell. Her head spun. All she wanted was to hold this woman tighter, kiss her deeper, break into her world.
Time seemed to slow, stretching infinitely into this kiss. Everything else faded away—there was only the brush of lips and teeth.
Ji Fuyi felt like all the air had been stolen by Yu Wei. Only by holding her close, by melting into her, could she continue to breathe.
When the kiss finally ended, Yu Wei smiled and said:
“Your lipstick tastes amazing.”
Ji Fuyi gave her a light slap on the shoulder, half playfully scolding, but her voice remained cool.
“If you like it, go buy a tube.”
“Not as sweet as it is on your lips,” Yu Wei replied, fixing her collar with a satisfied grin as she looked at her.
Ji Fuyi turned her head away and said:
“Don’t you have a curfew? Get going.”
Yu Wei leaned closer, still smiling, and planted a quick kiss on her cheek.
“In such a rush to get rid of me?”
“Yeah,” Ji Fuyi smiled gently and waved her off, “go on, call me when you get home.”
“Will do!”
Yu Wei chirped cheerfully, hopping out of the car. Before leaving, she peeked through the window and called out:
“You have to call me when you get home too!”
Two phone calls today! I’m a genius!
Thinking that, her steps grew light, and soon she was skipping down the path.
Ji Fuyi’s car slowly passed by her. Yu Wei blew a flying kiss through the window before turning into the house.
On the drive home, Ji Fuyi could only think of that kiss.
That cool mint-flavored kiss in the night, unexpected yet utterly dizzying.
Soft jazz played through the car stereo, and the gentle melody filled the vehicle. A breeze slipped through the window. The sensation of Yu Wei’s lips still lingered, and Ji Fuyi found herself gently licking her own.
She was in an uncommonly good mood.
She even started humming along. The amber glow of the streetlamps lit the wide road ahead. No one else was around. This moment of tenderness and tranquility—it belonged to her alone.
Back home, Ji Fuyi flipped on the lights, and her white kitten immediately bounded over, rolling on the floor in front of her and exposing its soft belly.
Ji Fuyi set down her bag and crouched to scoop up the kitten, petting it as she smiled.
“Did you eat well today, Kongge?”
She carried it to the food bowl and saw it was more than half-empty. Shaking her head, she asked:
“Did that sister give you too much food again today?”
Of course, the cat didn’t answer.
She nuzzled its soft tummy, but her mind drifted to the fact that Yu Wei hadn’t called her yet.
Did she get home safely?
The question surfaced in Ji Fuyi’s mind. Her hand absentmindedly stroked the kitten’s belly. The cat let out a displeased meow, protesting the lack of attention.
Normally, one little meow would get Ji Fuyi’s full devotion, but not tonight. She was frowning slightly, still thinking about that missing call, growing more concerned by the minute.
The cat meowed again. When Ji Fuyi still didn’t react, it twisted away and jumped off her lap.
Her arms were empty.
With a light sigh, Ji Fuyi picked up her phone. If Yu Wei wouldn’t call, then she’d call her instead.
Yu Wei answered almost immediately, her voice bright and surprised. “You’re home?”
Ji Fuyi hadn’t felt much of anything before, but now, hearing Yu Wei’s tone, something shifted. It felt oddly like Yu Wei had been waiting for her call.
Coolly, she said, “Yeah, just got in.”
“Oh! I’ve been home for a while,” Yu Wei replied cheerfully, oblivious to the tone. “I was just worried you might still be driving—didn’t want to call and distract you. I’m glad you’re home!”
“…Mn.”
Hearing that, Ji Fuyi’s doubt vanished. So Yu Wei had gotten home early. She just hadn’t called because she was worried about her safety while driving.
“When did you get home?”
“Huh? Like three minutes after you left. It’s just that little garden at the entrance—how far could it be?”
Right. She’d even watched her walk into the house.
So the call really was just an excuse.
Ji Fuyi didn’t know why she cared so much about the call. What did she expect from Yu Wei? Weren’t they just… casual partners?
“I see,” she said, brushing aside the strange feeling. “Get some rest.”
“Mhm! I’ll sleep early! Have breakfast tomorrow! Let’s eat together?” Yu Wei’s voice was bubbly, like honey. “If we’re eating together, I can come pick you up!”
So enthusiastic.
Ji Fuyi had always known Yu Wei was a warm person—always had been—but she’d never felt her warmth this directly. It was… a bit overwhelming.
“No.”
She still refused her.
This couldn’t continue. Her instincts told her it was dangerous.
But then she thought of Yu Wei’s disappointed, hurt expression… and added:
“I’ve got breakfast with the film crew tomorrow.”
“Oh! Then what about the day after tomorrow?”
Ji Fuyi: “…”
Why did she always feel soft when Yu Wei looked sad, only to let her get away with more?
Exhausted, she replied, “Let’s talk about the day after tomorrow tomorrow…”
“Okay! Then I’ll call you tomorrow—make sure to pick up!”
Ji Fuyi: “…”
What else could she say?
Yu Wei had her wrapped around her finger.
She set the phone down and went to take a bath. The warm water soothed her, washing away the day’s fatigue.
Ji Fuyi always found the bathtub to be her sanctuary—her most peaceful time of day.
But tonight, that solitude was disrupted by Yu Wei.
That kiss replayed over and over in her mind—soft lips, deft tongue, the haze of dizziness, the loss of breath. In that minty sweetness, even her toes curled.
A sigh escaped her lips, soft and seductive.
And she knew something wasn’t right.
The water wasn’t even that hot, but she was burning up.
The slick tub against her skin sent shivers through her. She drew her knees up, letting them break the water’s surface. Ripples lapped gently against her calves as she bit her lip, holding back any sound.
Ji Fuyi knew exactly what this was.
Her long-delayed heat had finally arrived.
Biting her lip, that kiss echoing in her mind, she reached out—toward her phone resting on the bathroom shelf.
At the top of her call history: Yu Wei.
Ji Fuyi’s last shred of reason kept asking her:
Should she call her… or not?
