I Woke Up And Found Myself Married - Chapter 9
A sense of both familiarity and strangeness washed over her, gradually stripping away the last of her rationality.
The warm water in the bathtub, which was usually relaxing, now felt torturous. Even the smallest ripples on the surface made Ji Fuyi feel flushed. Her toes curled and released repeatedly.
She tried to fight her instincts, but her body felt like it was enveloped in heat. She couldn’t think about anything—her mind was flooded with memories of the past.
She missed everything about Yu Wei.
By the time Ji Fuyi snapped back to her senses, she realized her hand was already on her chest. The contrast between her red nails and her pale skin snapped the last string of her control.
Her gaze drifted to the phone on the bathroom cabinet—just within reach.
Yu Wei answered quickly, her voice drowsy and sweet: “Hello? Fuyi, what’s wrong?”
Her voice was soft and sugary, with a slight hint of sleepiness. It sounded completely different from usual.
Ji Fuyi steadied herself and asked, “Did I wake you?”
Her voice was sultry and seductive.
Yu Wei seemed half-asleep and didn’t sense anything off. She replied in the same soft tone, “Mm-hmm…”
Ji Fuyi regained some clarity. Even though Yu Wei was asleep, if she asked her to come over now, Yu Wei would definitely come.
But then what?
An Omega at the early stage of her heat asking an Alpha to come over—there was no mistaking the implication.
It wouldn’t be wrong for adults to do adult things… but in this situation, avoiding a mark would be nearly impossible.
Did she really want Yu Wei to mark her?
The thought startled Ji Fuyi… but she didn’t find it entirely unacceptable.
That was crazy.
She must’ve been out of her mind because of her heat. Ji Fuyi bit her lip hard, forcing herself to stay lucid. Then, with the last bit of rationality, she said to Yu Wei:
“Let’s have breakfast together tomorrow…”
“Huh?” Yu Wei didn’t quite understand, but still replied sweetly, “Okay, I’ll come pick you up in the morning. Wait for me, okay?”
Even after the call ended, those last words—“wait for me”—still lingered in the air, sweet and tempting.
Ji Fuyi stood up from the bathtub. The steam quickly evaporated, taking some of the heat with it. She grabbed a suppressant spray from the bathroom cabinet and sprayed herself fiercely, hoping it would help.
It did, a little.
The scent of wormwood masked the sweet aroma of watermelon, temporarily subduing the heat. Dizzy and disoriented, Ji Fuyi rummaged through a drawer and finally found a box of pills.
These were the strong oral suppressants prescribed by her doctor when she first presented as an Omega—ten times more effective than the spray and meant for emergencies. Ji Fuyi didn’t think twice. She took two pills, dried off, and collapsed into bed.
As she drifted into sleep, she vaguely remembered the doctor warning her about the side effects: The suppressant would destabilize her pheromones, and the next heat would hit even harder. Without a mark, it would be nearly impossible to get through.
Yu Wei’s face flashed through her mind as Ji Fuyi slipped into unconsciousness.
…
Ji Fuyi didn’t sleep well and woke up early.
She stood in front of her vanity, still slightly dizzy. The person in the mirror had rosy cheeks, red lips, and watery eyes—nothing like her usual powerful appearance. Instead, she looked fragile and lovely.
Just as she finished changing, the doorbell rang.
Yu Wei stood at the door, smiling brightly with a paper bag in hand. When she saw Ji Fuyi, she beamed, “I brought you something to eat on the way…”
She was about to hand over the bag—it held a croissant and a small bottle of milk from the cake shop, the perfect light morning treat.
But midway through her sentence, she paused.
Ji Fuyi stood in the doorway, holding the door open. From the moment Yu Wei saw her, her gaze couldn’t move away—from Ji Fuyi’s golden ponytail, to her smooth forehead, her red lips, and the pale skin of her legs beneath the bathrobe.
She wasn’t wearing makeup. Without the usual glam, her striking features gave off a rare sense of purity.
She looked… sweet and delicious.
Yu Wei’s mind was filled with those four words. Even though the air was thick with the bitter scent of wormwood, Ji Fuyi’s uniquely cold yet sweet pheromones still slipped through, making Yu Wei’s heart race.
For the first time, she was acutely aware… Ji Fuyi was an Omega.
Yu Wei had rarely been affected by her instincts. Sometimes, she even thought the whole Alpha-Omega thing was just a label. Pheromones and heats had never really impacted her. People often said they couldn’t resist the urge to mark an Omega, but she never felt that way. Her self-control always allowed her to ignore those things completely.
But now, standing before Ji Fuyi, she suddenly realized: instincts did exist. And she did want to do something to Ji Fuyi.
Take her. Mark her. Break into her world. Tie her down completely.
Ji Fuyi felt slightly uncomfortable under her gaze and took a step back. “Come in,” she said.
Yu Wei entered and closed the door behind her.
“You…” She set the paper bag on the counter and added with an unintended implication in her tone, “You look really tasty today.”
Ji Fuyi’s heart skipped a beat. Did Yu Wei notice something?
The air was indeed thick with pheromones. The sweet watermelon was being smothered by the wormwood, yet it still made Ji Fuyi feel fluttery inside.
She smiled seductively and didn’t bother hiding the flirtation in her voice:
“Want to eat breakfast first, or eat me first?”
Yu Wei licked her lips and said:
“You.”
The moment Yu Wei pinned her to the sofa, Ji Fuyi gasped—she understood now. She’d been waiting for this moment since last night.
“You’re always this forward, aren’t you, ‘big sis’…” Yu Wei whispered in her ear, her breath warm, making Ji Fuyi tremble slightly.
“But,” Yu Wei kissed her earlobe, “I really like that.”
Their eyes locked, and Ji Fuyi suddenly grabbed Yu Wei’s hand.
“Don’t be so impatient.”
Yu Wei pressed a finger to her lips, left a kiss on her cheek, and sat up.
“What do you want?” she asked, looking down at her. “Tell me.”
Ji Fuyi fell silent. Yu Wei didn’t move further, though the minty scent in the air grew stronger and stronger.
“We have plenty of time,” she said. “I can wait for you.”
Yu Wei glanced at the large floor-to-ceiling window. The gentle sunlight filtered through sheer curtains, bathing the room in golden light.
It was daytime.
Ji Fuyi blushed instantly and stammered, “The bedroom… is over there.”
Yu Wei grinned. “But I like it here.”
Surrounded by the minty aroma, Ji Fuyi felt her body melting into a pool of warm water, helplessly flowing wherever Yu Wei led her.
A little white cat jumped off the coffee table, sat in front of Ji Fuyi, and stared at her.
“Don’t look at me…”
Her voice trembled.
The kitten just meowed once and continued watching her with curious eyes, no longer the obedient fluffball it usually was.
Yu Wei chuckled lowly, her face buried in Ji Fuyi’s neck.
The sweet scent began to rise again, slowly overtaking the wormwood in the air.
Again and again, from the sofa to the corner to the bedroom—Ji Fuyi felt the heat fading, only to surge back, in a seemingly endless cycle.
When it finally faded completely, Ji Fuyi was limp and weak.
Yu Wei carried her to the bathtub, thoughtfully prepared warm water, and even placed a little yellow duck on the surface.
Wrapped in the gentle water, Ji Fuyi felt it resembled Yu Wei’s embrace. She called softly, “Weiwei…”
“Hmm? What is it?”
Yu Wei appeared at the door, full of energy, her bright eyes sparkling. “Wanna bathe together?”
Ji Fuyi: “…”
What is this kid thinking all the time?!
She grabbed the yellow duck and hurled it at Yu Wei.
Yu Wei caught it easily and said,
“What the heck? You treat Little Yellow Duck like that, and it’ll be heartbroken. Besides, this bathtub is huge—don’t you feel lonely all by yourself? No Little Yellow Duck to keep you company… wouldn’t you rather have me?”
Ji Fuyi ran out of things to throw. She just rolled her eyes at her. “Go.”
“What?” Yu Wei grinned roguishly. “You’re the one who called me here.”
“Get out now,” Ji Fuyi snapped, “go back to the living room.”
Yu Wei waved and actually left, holding the little duck.
Watching her disappear, Ji Fuyi oddly felt a little… disappointed.
The bathroom returned to silence. Half-submerged in bubbles, Ji Fuyi exhaled deeply.
Her thoughts drifted. In that earlier frenzy, she recalled how Yu Wei’s teeth had brushed over the nape of her neck several times, lingering on the gland that exuded that sweet aroma—hesitant but determined.
Yu Wei really didn’t mark her…
Very few Alphas could resist marking an Omega during heat, even in its early stages. Did Yu Wei have that much self-control?
Maybe Yu Wei wasn’t exactly how she’d imagined her. Maybe there were parts of her that Ji Fuyi had overlooked—and those parts were precisely what made her so captivating.
A vague affection began to rise in her heart. Ji Fuyi found herself starting to… admire Yu Wei.
…
When Ji Fuyi stepped into the living room in a fresh bathrobe, Yu Wei was lying on the couch, holding a bag of cat treats, waving them in front of the aloof little white cat.
Ji Fuyi stood at the doorway, silently watching this scene. It looked kind of… absurd.
So dumb.
She turned her head away, unable to bear the sight, and got herself a can of milk from the fridge.
Yu Wei saw and shouted, “Me too, me too!”
Ji Fuyi handed her a can and called out to the cat, “Spacebar, come here.”
“So the cat’s name is Spacebar? Why not Enter?” Yu Wei mumbled. “Spacebar, come have some snacks.”
Spacebar flicked its tail and ran off.
Yu Wei turned around, awkwardly smiling at Ji Fuyi.
Ji Fuyi: “…”
Even dumber.
But… kind of cute.
Yu Wei set down the treats, completely forgetting about the cat. She opened a window while sipping her milk and said:
“It’s like a gas leak in here—your suppressant smells awful.”
“Oh really?”
Ji Fuyi sipped her milk absentmindedly. “So what do you suggest?”
“Uh…” Yu Wei thought seriously, then looked at her. “Maybe find an Alpha to mark you?”
A mark would eliminate the need for suppressants and avoid side effects. A temporary mark would fade on its own. A perfect solution.
Ji Fuyi gave her a sideways glance and lazily said:
“Why not you?”
