I Would Like To Live A Different Life If I Could Go Back In Time - Episode 12
And so, the day of the academy entrance ceremony arrived.
I attended the entrance ceremony in my uniform and robe. I couldn’t exactly wear the hood, but I quietly sat at the farthest seat in the magic department section. I tried to be as inconspicuous as possible.
In the first year, all departments study common foundational subjects, so classes are purely divided based on academic ability.
Last time, of course, I was in the same class as His Highness and his attendants in Class S, but this time, I won’t let my guard down. I was placed in Class A.
Since my family thought I couldn’t even write, they’ll probably be quite surprised by these grades, but well, I don’t think they’ll say anything, so it should be fine.
The ceremony began, and Prince Randolph’s new student greeting started. As expected, I could hear the excited cheers.
I admit it’s cool.
But I can’t forget the way he looked at me with that cold gaze.
It seems that the greeting ended while I was lost in thought.
When His Highness returned to his seat from the stage, I felt like our eyes met for a moment.
It’s probably just my imagination, right?
The ceremony has ended, and we are moving to our respective classes.
I followed suit and entered the class.
Class A is mostly made up of nobles, with just a few commoners, I suppose.
When it comes to the S class, it’s good if there are one or two commoners. Nobles undergo early education, so it’s only natural that their academic abilities differ.
In the class, there are people from the Knight Department, the Lady Department, the Civil Servant Department, the Mage Department, and the Pharmacology Department, but I’m the only mage. It seems I’m also the only one in Pharmacology. The Pharmacology Department has many in the S class because it requires extensive knowledge. The same goes for the Mage Department. You can’t become a mage without abundant magical power.
Unless there are special circumstances, right?
Well, now that everyone’s self-introduction in the class is over, we will be dismissed for today.
Sadly, it seems unlikely that I will make any friends.
If I were a noble lady, I would have made friends at tea parties since I was little, but I had always been in the territory, and because of my illness, no one ever tried to talk to me.
It’s a bit lonely, but when I think about it, it’s nothing compared to not getting killed.
Carrying my bag, I quickly return to the dorm room.
Finally, the first day is over!
The ceremony is over, so now I just want to live quietly like a shadow. It’s okay. I have experience living like a commoner, and if I get lonely, I can go help Graham.
Thinking that way makes me feel more relaxed.
Huh, oh no!
I forgot to get bread from the cafeteria.
…Sigh, it can’t be helped. I guess I’ll have to give up and eat at the cafeteria.
Reluctantly, I pulled my hood over my head and made my way to the cafeteria.
It seems that the cafeteria isn’t crowded today since there are no upperclassmen. I picked up the A lunch and took a seat by the window.
Outside the window, there is a beautiful garden with seasonal flowers peeking out. Eating while looking at the scenery through the window is wonderful, isn’t it? It feels so student-like.
Last time, I didn’t have the luxury because of my queen training. I was living on bread washed down with fruit water in the carriage heading to the palace.
Eating slowly and savoring is a wonderful thing, isn’t it?
While I was eating, gazing out the window with a deep sense of emotion, someone called out to me.
“Is this okay here?”
When I turned my gaze, standing there were Prince Randolph and his attendants.
“……Please.”
Why are you coming here when it’s empty!?
I increase my eating speed while secretly feeling anxious.
“Your Highness, what will we do about the student council meeting after this?”
It seems that Mark is asking His Highness.
“Ah. I’ll show my face. More importantly, you’re the one Mark bumped into the other day, right? You were a first-year student at the academy.”
Even though I had my hood pulled up deep, how did they find out!?
I can’t afford to show my shaken state.
“……That’s true.”
“Are you going to be a royal palace magician in the future? But you weren’t in the S class, right? Which class were you in?”
Why are you prying into this, Your Highness!?
Even if I wanted to ask someone for help, there’s no one around. Advisors, be careful.
Your Highness, picking up girls is not good.
“…It’s A.”
“Prince Randolph, your daughter seems to be uncomfortable. What’s going on? It’s not like you to directly speak to her.”
“Ah, yeah. I didn’t properly apologize for what happened the other day. And I was wondering what kind of business you had coming to the palace.”
The one who stopped His Highness was the Earl’s son, Yolande Guinevere, who aspires to be the Prime Minister.
“Ah, so you were the young lady from back then. I apologize for bumping into you at that time.”
Mark is apologizing in a cheerful voice.
“N-no. It’s fine now…”
“Indeed. Why were you in the palace?”
It seems that Lord Yorland was also concerned. At that time, I was so desperate that I didn’t notice, but he was there too.
“…because there is a magic teacher in the palace.”
I respond while hurriedly eating, just like my heart is racing. You can’t tell by looking, but my legs are trembling under the table.
This might also be the result of queenly education.
“Well then, since the meal is finished, I’ll take my leave. Please enjoy the rest of your meal at your leisure.”
I said that and stood up. I never thought I would get involved with someone when there are so few people around. I’m not leaving my room today.

“Your Highness, are you interested in her?”
Yorland asked me that.
“Mm, ah. Well, yeah.”
“If you look closely, that person is really cute, isn’t she? Is she your type, Your Highness?”
“…… I guess I’m a bit concerned.”
“Anyway, let’s eat quickly. I’m starving.”
Mark opened his mouth wide and started eating lunch.
“Your Highness, shall we investigate her?”
“No, it’s fine for now.”
“Understood.”
And so the three of them began their meal.
