I Would Like To Live A Different Life If I Could Go Back In Time - Episode 13
The next day, regular classes awaited.
In the morning, all students study common subjects at the academy, and in the afternoon, they split into their respective departments. The knights’ department engages in training, while the other departments participate in club activities or go out into the town, spending their time as they please.
As they progress to their second and third years, they will be divided by department and engage in activities accordingly.
It seems that the wizarding course doesn’t have practical classes for first-year students, so we just have to complete the assigned tasks. It’s so boring.
With nothing else to do, I decided to head to the inn where Eme and the others were.
“Eme! I came to hang out!”
“Lady Yuria. I thought you would come right away.”
The inn managed by Eme and the others was convenient and crowded because it was close to the guild and Dr. Paron’s clinic.
And it seems that Graham’s cooking has also gained a reputation for being delicious.
“Is there anything I can help with?”
“Miss, the children are helping out too, so it’s all right. By the way, Dr. Paron was looking for someone to help at the clinic.”
It seems they are struggling with a shortage of staff, so how about going to help out?
“There’s nothing special to do anyway. Alright, I’ll give it a try.”
“Oh, Miss Yuria, please come back here when you’re done. Let’s have dinner together.”
“Yay! I got it!”
And then I knocked on the door of the clinic three houses down.
“Professor Paron, are you there?”
“How about you?”
“It’s Yuria. Yuria Osborn.”
The teacher opened his eyes wide in surprise, then hugged me with a smile.
“I’m glad. I was worried.”
“Thanks to you, I hardly ever remember my painful past anymore. And even when I do, I can think of it as a distant memory.”
“That’s good to hear. What’s going on today?”
“I also moved into the academy dormitory yesterday! I finish my assignments quickly, so I’m free. I thought I’d help out at the inn three doors down today, but they said they have enough hands.”
I heard that Dr. Paron’s clinic is short-staffed, so I came to ask if it would be better to help there.
“I feel hesitant to ask for your help, but I’m so busy right now that I could use even a cat’s assistance. However, are you okay with seeing bl00d?”
“Teacher, I used to take care of myself in the territory and even went hunting. I also treated the injured! I’m not very good at healing magic, but I can use it a little.”
“You can use healing magic, right? That’s a relief. Then over here.”
It seems that in the past few days, a strong monster has appeared outside the royal capital, and there have been numerous injuries.
I think the guild is handling it for now, but until they are defeated, the clinic might not have a break in patients.
Since I’m better at attack magic, I thought it might be better to participate in the hunt, but Eme is worried, and I haven’t hunted outside the territory before, so I’d like to try it once I get a bit more accustomed.
Dr. Paron said that and guided them to the treatment room.
In the waiting room, patients were waiting, and in the treatment room, the injured were sitting on beds and chairs, waiting for treatment.
Even I think this situation is bad.
“Doctor, should I go ahead and treat the injured?”
“Yes. I asked for it. If there are any difficult or unclear parts, please ask the assistant who will be by your side. You can call for me anytime.”
After nodding, I carefully cast healing magic on each person.
The doctor prescribes healing magic and medicine primarily to sick patients.
It seems that a healer, often referred to as a saint or holy woman, can regrow a lost arm, but a doctor cannot restore what has been lost.
Even if it gets torn off, it is possible to heal it, so the guild instructs us to pick up any severed parts as much as possible, even if we get injured.
And the proficiency or lack thereof in healing magic is reflected in the roughness and duration of the treatment. The more carefully you heal, the more time and magical power it consumes.
In my case, I have a lot of magical power, but I’m not good at it, so it takes time.
But I do try to be polite.
People who have been severely injured by being clawed by monsters on their backs, those with wounds on their faces, and those whose hands are about to be torn off. Various injured individuals are being brought to the clinic without rest.
What kind of monster could inflict such a wound?
Dragon?
I will continue the treatment while thinking about the monsters.
I found out later that the injured were taken to this clinic, the closest one to the guild, and Dr. Paron healed them with his magic.
However, it seems that the bl00d lost from a serious injury cannot be restored with magic, so I will need to rest for a few days.
Since the number of patients that can be admitted to the clinic is limited, they were shown to Emma and the others’ lodging, where they will rest for a few days.
Thanks to that, Eme and the others don’t have to worry about their income, and the clinic can accept patients, so it seems like they are helping each other out.
“Miss Yuria, thank you for your hard work. I’ll take over now.”
It seems like the clinic has closed for the evening. For now, it looks like we can treat patients calmly, except for emergency cases.
“Sensei, should I come again tomorrow?”
“I haven’t heard that the monsters have been defeated yet, so there will probably still be injuries. It would be helpful if you could come.”
“Well then, I’ll come here right after school. I promised to have dinner with Eme and the others today, so I’m heading home. Oh, Sensei, I’m one of the assistants at the clinic. I’m not a lady.”
“Understood. Well then, Yuria, I look forward to tomorrow as well.”
“Yes! Teacher!”
And so I headed towards the inn.
In the inn’s dining hall, the people who were treated at the clinic earlier were having their meals.
His complexion is still poor due to the bl00d loss, but I’m relieved to see that he’s able to eat.
“I’m home! Eme, I’m hungry.”
After playing with her younger brothers (Eme’s sons) in the family-exclusive living room, she helped prepare dinner, talked about what happened today, and spent time enjoying the family gathering.
Even though my living situation has changed, I’m happy to be able to gather around the table with everyone like this again.
It’s far from a noble’s meal, but I really enjoy this cheerful atmosphere.
After having a meal, I will return to the dormitory. Since Eme was worried about the return, I decided to use a recognition-inhibiting spell to go back.
I’m strong, so I don’t need to use recognition suppression!
