I Would Like To Live A Different Life If I Could Go Back In Time - Episode 14
For the next few days, I studied at the academy and helped out at the clinic in the afternoons. Dr. Paron also took the time to examine me when he could.
I carefully listened to the effects and peculiarities of the dream magic and also checked the magical power. As expected, the magical power has multiplied several times, and it seems that this amount of magical power is among the top one or two in the country.
Regarding the swordsmanship I was using in my dreams, it might be that I was imitating something I saw somewhere in the past, or it could be something I completely imagined and created.
The teacher was talking about how their interest never wanes. Thanks to the dream, I have become stronger both physically and mentally, and I can’t thank the teacher enough.
About a week later, it seems that the monster subjugation has finally ended.
It takes this much time, huh?
I didn’t know.
According to the teacher, it seems that a horde of dozens of reptilian monsters called Lizardmen had been appearing near the royal capital. Because there were so many of them and each one was strong, it took a long time to defeat them all.
If it were me, I feel like I could take them down all by myself with a powerful attack spell.
Since the number of patients has stabilized, I don’t have to come every day anymore, but I’ve decided to help out at Dr. Paron’s clinic once a week to practice my healing magic as well.
The teacher accepted that they were happy to help. Little by little, I have to increase the things I can do by myself.
Right now, I’m thinking about becoming a magician in the future, but I also need to consider whether I want to live as an adventurer or work as a court magician.
As long as I am a noble, will I be used by my family…?
Feeling a bit anxious, I go to the hospital again today.
Oh, right! I made a friend at the academy too! Her name is Rees. She’s in the civil service department, which is rare for a woman in a merchant family.
After classes ended, I started having meals in the courtyard, and she was also eating there, so we naturally became friends.
We get along well, and we started spending all our time together.
I haven’t seen Prince Randolph since then. Our classes are different, and since they are in the student council, they seem busy, so we don’t meet much.
If we were to meet, it would be in the cafeteria, but since I take my meals in the courtyard, we haven’t run into each other so far.
“Lady Yuria, are you joining the club?”
Liz asked, as usual, while tearing off a piece of bread.
“No, I don’t plan to go in. I have a lot of places to go this afternoon, so I’m busy.”
Actually, I try to avoid staying in the academy for long periods to reduce opportunities to interact with His Highness and the others.
“Is Liz joining a club?”
“Uh-uh. But I’ve been recruited by the student council. They want me to be the treasurer. I’m really unsure about what to do.”
“The student council treasurer is amazing, isn’t it? It’s incredible how they outshine the S class.”
I honestly give compliments. Among the hundreds of students, almost all the ones who join the student council are from the S class.
Class A only accepts exceptionally talented individuals. Moreover, this year, Prince Randolph and his aides are part of the student council, making it an even more exclusive opportunity.
There are many people who want to get close to Prince Randolph.
“Well, but since I aspire to be a civil servant and come from a merchant family, accounting seems too easy, right? There are so many talented people in Class S, so I wonder why it’s me?”
“I wonder why? If you don’t like it, isn’t it okay to quit?”
“Yeah. I’ll think about it a bit more before I respond.”
It seems that Rees himself doesn’t quite understand why he was chosen.
Joining the student council is a great honor, but if there’s something behind it, it’s better to stop. After all, there are the handsome Prince Randolph and his aides.
After having a meal with Liz, I said goodbye with “See you tomorrow” and headed to the clinic where Dr. Paron was.
“Teacher, I would like to consult with you.”
I will take this opportunity to consult with the doctor who just finished treating the patient.
“What is the consultation about?”
“I want to live as a magician after I graduate from the academy. I’m torn between becoming a court magician or an adventurer.”
The future is stable for those affiliated with the royal palace, but there are Prince Randolph and others in the royal palace.
There are times when we absolutely have to meet face-to-face, so I don’t want to.
I think it might be nice to become an adventurer and travel from country to country, but my status as a noble gets in the way.
“Hmm. It’s a difficult problem. If you’re a noble, there might be political marriages. If you’re removed from the registry, you become a commoner, and the protection that comes from noble status disappears.”
It must be tough to be prepared to give up being a noble, but if you want to become an adventurer, how about trying to get involved with the guild on your days off?
Of course, by changing its appearance, though.
If you try activities in the guild and find they are different from what you expected, you can just quit. It might be a good idea to experience it while you’re still a student.
“Teacher! That’s a good idea. We should try everything first.”
I feel like everything in front of me suddenly got brighter.
That’s right, if I try it while I’m a student and realize it’s not for me, I can just quit. Let’s give it a shot.
I stopped by Eme’s inn on my way home today.
Since there was a deer-shaped monster skull displayed in the inn’s dining hall, I decided to take it.
I think it’s not strange to wear a skull in the royal capital since there are various magicians there.
Graham is great! He happily handed it over to me. Emma opposed it, but both my younger brother and sister praised it as cool.
Unfortunately, Eme’s opinion was overridden.
