- Episode 18 - Yorland’s Side 2
I asked the intelligence agency to investigate her.
And after seeing the results of that investigation, I couldn’t shake off the feeling of discomfort.
It is said that due to a mental illness, they have been living in the territory since childhood. There are many unknowns about life in the territory, and it is not well understood. Upon conducting a discreet investigation, it was found that they had been studying under the private tutelage of Giannino Chistaliti, the chief royal court magician, for half a year before entering the academy.
The head is personally teaching Lady Yuria.
It is written that while spending time in the territory, I did not properly study.
However, from what I’ve seen, Lady Yuria is one of the more outstanding individuals at the academy. Her way of speaking and her gestures are very natural, something that can’t be achieved overnight.
And it seems that Giannino, the head of the family, has such magical talent that he is summoned to the royal palace. The young lady that His Highness is interested in becomes more and more mysterious the more one learns about her.
“Hey, Your Highness. If you want to know more about Lady Yuria, why not invite Rees, who is always by her side, to the student council?”
The perceptive Mark quickly noticed her and made such a suggestion to His Highness.
We also agreed that it was a good idea.
His Highness seemed a bit flustered, but judging by the fact that he didn’t deny it, he probably agrees.
“Well then, I’ll go and call them.”
Saying that, I caught Miss Rees when she was about to return to the dormitory from class and made my proposal.
“Miss Rees, I really want you to join the student council. The treasurer position is still open, you know. Your family runs a trading company, right? What do you think?”
She seemed very surprised and wondered, “Why me?”
“I-I’m very honored. B-but, could I take a little more time to think about my response?”
“Ah, I don’t mind. I’m looking forward to it.”
And so, after waiting for several days.
She came to the student council room with a gloomy expression.
“Miss Rees, you went out of your way to come here. Would you be willing to take it on?”
His Highness is speaking calmly, but with subtle movements that only we can understand.
I’m feeling restless.
“I’m so sorry. Even though you kindly invited me, as a commoner and a woman, I am not allowed to approach His Highness Randolph. Please, let’s pretend this conversation never happened.”
Lady Rees bows her head. The prince, whose earlier cheerful mood has been completely shattered, looks dejected. I quickly send out a lifeboat.
“Did someone tell you? I invited you because I heard you were excellent.”
“…I’m glad to hear you say that. However, I’ve been warned by the candidates for your engagement and the daughters of my classmates not to get too close to you. I am just a commoner. Even if the academy promotes equality, it’s different outside the academy. I can’t trouble my parents either.”
…Those guys.
I felt like clicking my tongue. Surely, the prince must feel the same way.
If it’s those guys, they would even threaten the house of Lady Rees, who is a commoner, without a second thought.
Thinking about it like that gives me a headache.
For now, I have no choice but to step back. When I told her to let me know if she had another opportunity, she left the room with a smile.
“Ah, too bad, Your Highness. Who would have thought those four were the main culprits?”
“……Yeah. It can’t be helped.”
His Highness is even more depressed by Mark’s words.
We thought about whether there was any other way.
I considered running into her while she’s eating and getting to know her, but it seems she doesn’t eat in the cafeteria. Besides, those four are always clinging to the prince during meals, so they would just be a nuisance.
Days went by as I continued to worry about whether there was any way to resolve it. One day,
When I entered the library to get the student council materials, Miss Yuria and Miss Liz were happily chatting.
It seems like they are studying for an exam.
For some reason, things seem strange.
While Miss Liz is being taught by Miss Yuria about the parts she doesn’t understand, Miss Yuria is just reading the spell book, doing nothing but teaching Miss Liz.
Is Miss Yuria okay not studying?
However, it’s a good opportunity. While teaching Miss Liz and Miss Yuria, I can get to know them better.
I thought so and called out.
I said I would teach her a bit forcefully to get closer, but Miss Yuria quickly left the library, leaving Miss Rees behind.
……quite formidable.
However, I had the opportunity to teach Miss Rees. While teaching Miss Rees until the exam, I listened to Miss Yuria’s stories. It seems they always have meals together in the courtyard.
She is always kind and apparently has a secret popularity in class.
Moreover, it seems she has no noble friends because she has spent her entire life in the estate. She is very modest and makes sure not to stand out, which makes it difficult for others to approach her, and as a result, she doesn’t get spoken to much.
Miss Rees, not knowing her past, seems to have approached Miss Yuria herself.
I asked what she does after school, but it seems Miss Rees doesn’t know much either. She seems to be going somewhere, but she doesn’t know where.
It’s a place I’m curious about.
I wonder where she is going without telling even her friends.
