I Would Like To Live A Different Life If I Could Go Back In Time - Episode 19
“Lady Yuria! The exam results have been posted. Shall we go see them?”
I headed towards the school building entrance with Liz.
There were many students at the bulletin board where the results were posted, creating a lively atmosphere.
I peek at the bulletin board with Liz, feeling a bit nervous as we push through the crowd.
The first place is Lord Yorland. The second place is Prince Randolph. Lord Mark was in tenth place. As expected, the outstanding individuals are different. The young ladies who are candidates for Prince Randolph’s fiancée are following behind Lord Mark.
“Lady Yuria! My name was there!”
Surprisingly, Lee’s name was written in sixth place.
“Isn’t it amazing? You really worked hard.”
My rank is thirtieth. Liz is very surprised. Although it’s far from what we expected, there are just over twenty people in the S class, so it’s a pretty good position.
I’m sorry to Liz, but I’m secretly over the moon.
As expected of me! I’m in just the right spot.
I resolve to keep up the good work and do my best next time as well.
After finishing looking at the exam results, they have a friendly meal in the courtyard as usual. Liz, slightly fidgeting as if it’s hard to say, brings up the topic of the exam results.
“Y-Yuria-sama, thirtieth place. In Class A, that’s quite high!”
Liz is being considerate and reaching out to me.
“Reese, you don’t have to worry about it, okay? Since I haven’t studied at all in the territory, it’s already quite high.”
“Y-Yeah, that’s right. Huh? You haven’t studied at all?”
“Yes. I had a tutor teaching me letters for six months before entering the academy. So, I think that’s enough.”
“!!? Rather, it’s amazing that you’re at the top of Class A with that. I respect you.”
“I’m not even expected by my parents, so this is enough for me. If Liz wants to aim for a position as a court official, she needs to work hard to get into Class S.”
“Are you not aiming to become a royal palace magician, Yuria-sama?”
“Still undecided, huh? You’re thinking about what suits you, right?”
“I see. I need to work hard towards my goals too!”
As I was talking like that, His Highness Randolph walked over here with his attendant.
When we saw that, Liz and I were surprised.
The two of them stood up smoothly, performed the bow of vassals, and recited the set phrases of praise.
“I am pleased to have had the opportunity to meet His Highness Prince Randolph, the Star of the Kingdom.”
Lise, being a commoner, seemed not to know, but she awkwardly bowed to me. I want her to be fully aware that there is a significant difference in status between a prince and an ordinary young lady.
“Formal greetings are fine. Miss Rees, you did better than the S-class students in this test. Congratulations. Miss Osborn, you also did remarkably well, ranking thirtieth. …Wonderful. Congratulations.”
“Thank you very much.”
What brings you here, Your Highness?
For a moment, it seemed like the prince’s complexion was poor, but maybe it was just my imagination.
“Your Highness Randolph and your esteemed attendants are far beyond my reach. Nevertheless, what brings you here today?”
To avoid being rude, but still giving off a bit of an atmosphere that says if there’s no business, hurry up and leave, I ask.
“I’m always being chased by the young ladies, so I can’t even eat lunch at a leisurely pace. I was looking for a place where I could eat slowly… How about having a meal together?”
Why do you keep coming closer even though I’m avoiding you!?
Reese, though flustered, seemed to decide she couldn’t refuse, sat next to me, and said, “Please.”
Three people sat down at the seat across from us.
“Yeah, it was great. I’m always being hounded by those four.”
“Mark-sama, that’s just sad for them. Their future is at stake. It’s only natural for them to be desperate.”
While smiling, I never forget to support them. This is all because His Highness hasn’t decided on a fiancée quickly. I say this indirectly.
“How is Lady Yuria doing?”
How, exactly? Lady Yolande’s way of speaking can be interpreted in any way.
I guess I have no choice but to pretend I’m not thinking about anything.
It was just a moment, but various thoughts crossed my mind.
“…Me? I haven’t decided on my future yet. There are so many things I want to do. It might be fun to become a magician and travel to various countries.”
“Have you considered stepping forward as a candidate for Prince Randolph’s fiancée?”
I suppress the disgust that almost shows on my face and put on a puzzled expression.
“Hehe, how amusing. Our family’s title is barely that of an earl, and we aren’t wealthy enough to support the royal family.”
I have been recuperating in the estate from my childhood until recently, so it would be too presumptuous for a sickly young lady like me to run for office.
Unfortunately, since there is an heir below, my family doesn’t expect anything from me, and it seems no one wants to marry a lady with flaws, so I haven’t received any marriage proposals. I just live my life as I please.
She beams with a full smile, as if to say, “Hehe, you’re such a fool.”
As expected, even Lord Yorland seemed at a loss for words.
Last time, we became engaged after talking at the tea party.
There may have been efforts from the Earl of Osborne’s family, but I think it was ultimately decided by His Highness’s word.
But, it’s a mystery, isn’t it?
Since we got engaged, despite being busy, we would find time to meet and have tea, both of us blushing. I thought we were both thinking of each other.
Since entering the academy, His Highness has become close with Lady Vera Venegict, and he has completely stopped paying any attention to me.
I should have made her my fiancée from the beginning.
Thinking about it, even though it’s about the last time, my feelings are tense and sharp, and I can’t remain calm. I quickly finish my meal and stand up, as if to hide my feelings.
It seems like Liz finished eating too and got up from her seat with me.
“Well then, we’ll take our leave first. If you don’t mind us, please continue to enjoy your meal in the courtyard.”
After we bowed, just as we were about to leave, we were called by His Highness Randolph.
“Um… Miss Yuria, do you have any plans after this?”
“? Yes. Unfortunately, I have plans. Well then, excuse me.”
I have to go to the clinic now. I’m going back to the dorm while talking with Liz about “What could it be?”
Unaware of the gaze following my back.
