- Episode 78 - Academy Life: Yuria and Liz
“Lord Randolph, then I’ll be heading to the academy!”
After taking care of the morning chores, I leave the room and head back to the dormitory.
“Reese, good morning!”
“Lady Yuria, good morning.”
At one point, I was worried about what would happen, but I’m glad that I can spend student life with Liz again like this.
“Lady Yuria, would you like to visit the café that has been popular in the royal capital lately?”
“A café? Could it be ‘Kitten’s Liti’? It was even a topic of conversation in class. They said the tart is delicious, and I want to try it.”
“I also want to try the limited-time pear tart.”
Talking about trendy foods and goods like this is just so much fun!
“You both look like you’re having fun. I want to join in too.”
“Oh, Lord Yorland. Are you able to keep up with women’s topics?”
Since Yorland-sama joined our class, he has been talking to us more frequently. With the talk of him being a close aide gone, it seems he now has some free time since he only has to focus on his heir studies.
“It’s one of those trendy cafes, right? My mom was raving about it the other day.”
Saying that, Yolande-sama sat down in the seat in front of us.
“I heard there are cat-shaped cookies too. I want to buy some and take them home.”
“Sounds like it. If you’re free today, want to go together?”
“Sounds good! Shall we go too, Lady Yuria?”
“Yeah, I want to try the tart too.”
Thus, the three of us decided to go to the trendy café. After class ended, we boarded Lord Yorland’s carriage in our current outfits.
“After all, noble carriages are different, aren’t they?”
After looking around the car, Liz is happily gazing outside.
“Really? Don’t you have a splendid carriage as well?”
“When my father goes to business meetings, he uses a carriage, but I haven’t ridden in one much.”
“But even though Liz doesn’t have a title, she can still live as well as us, or even more luxuriously than I do, if she wants to.”
Liz’s family is wealthier than many nobles, focusing on trade goods with neighboring countries. Whether it’s due to her parents’ influence or her own disposition, Reese herself leads a modest life without extravagance.
“I’ve never thought of myself as wealthy. It’s my father who runs the trading company, and my brother who will take over. Oh! We’re almost there!”
Leeds is smiling as he finds a café while saying that. Yolande is watching him. He seems kind somehow. I think he is kind to Leeds in his own way.
Maybe, right?
Was I a bother?
Thinking that, we got off the carriage and entered the store.
Inside the store, wealthy ladies can be seen here and there. The cute, cabriole-legged tables and chairs are lined up, making it clear why it is popular with girls.
We were guided by the staff and sat at the sunniest table.
We place our orders with a waitress dressed like a maid. I order a pear tart and tea set. After much deliberation, Liz orders a chiffon cake and tea set. Lady Yolande orders tea and seasonal jelly.
“The other day, Miss Marie was walking hand in hand with her fiancé. She was blushing bright red. I felt embarrassed just watching them.”
Liz talks as usual.
When you reach the highest grade, marriage becomes imminent, and many people start spending time with their fiancés. Unfortunately, none of us have fiancés, so we end up chatting and having fun like this.
“Miss Liz, aren’t you going to get a fiancé?”
“My family has told my father and mother that they can do as they please. It’s not like I’m going to inherit the family. Isn’t it a bit concerning that you, Your Excellency, don’t have a fiancé?”
When Liz and I direct our gazes towards Lord Yorland, he seems to have no choice but to give a wry smile.
“I won’t be able to do it for the time being. Since His Highness has gone into seclusion for treatment. I can’t deny my lack of ability as a close aide. The young lady who marries me will probably feel out of place.”
“Wow. What a waste. It’s so wonderful. Being a noble must be tough.”
Reese absentmindedly murmured that as she brought the chiffon cake the waiter had brought to her mouth.
How is Lady Yuria doing?
“Hmm. I think I’ll just keep things as they are for now. Keeping up with my master’s assignments is tough, and I haven’t even thought about getting married to anyone.”
“What kind of tasks does Lord Johnson have? I heard that the royal court magician advisor is a strict but reliable person, who is determined to restore the palace with fervent motivation.”
Lord Yorland asked with interest. Since he aspires to be a civil servant, we might meet at the royal palace after graduation.
“My master is incredibly strict. It’s absolutely ridiculous. Like a demon. The assignments too, like thinking of a spell that can be used within the time it takes to construct a teleportation magic circle, figuring out in what situations it can be used, and then being able to use it without chanting. In the worst case, we have to put it into practice.”
“Practice?”
“Suddenly dropping me into a dragon’s nest and telling me to fend off the fire while teleporting back with a magic circle. I feel like the way I’m being taught is seriously wrong. My current task is to develop a magic circle that can be used permanently to treat mana sickness. It’s really difficult…”
When I talk about my master, both of them slightly tense up. I understand. It’s completely unrelated to our academy studies. I’m aware of that myself.
And so we enjoyed our tea while talking about the latest trends and the upcoming test.
“Today was really fun. Lord Yorland, thank you very much for escorting me to the dormitory.”
“Miss Liz, Miss Yuria, please call me when you have tea next time. See you tomorrow.”
Lady Yorland quickly got into the carriage and returned home.
I chatted with Liz as I returned to the dormitory, waved goodbye in front of my room, and then moved from my room to the usual hut to start taking care of Lord Randolph, who was sleeping in the basket bed.
While talking about what happened today, I cut the jelly I brought back as a souvenir into small pieces and fed them to Lord Randolph. I was happy to have fun playing with Leese and the others.
What should I do about the upcoming test?
Since I don’t have to hide my abilities anymore, it looks like I can have a good match against Lord Yorland!
Thinking that, Yuria continued to tackle her master’s assignments until bedtime today as well
