- Chapter 7 - However
“Your Highness Reynold, don’t let Her Highness Christiane fool you!”
Noelia, still pale, cried out again.
Prince Fabian, nodded quickly with a confused expression.
“Your Highness Reynold, don’t be fooled by Her Highness Christiane!”
Prince Reynold, stopped in front of me, shrugged.
“Your Highness Fabian, i think you are the one who shouldn’t be fooled by Noelia.”
“Even if you are Your Highness Reynold, you cannot insult Noelia!”
Prince Reynold shrugged and annoyed by Prince Fabian because he still managed to held his anger.
“I don’t care who Your Highness Fabian chooses to believe, but are you serious about breaking off the engagement with Her Highness Christiane?”
Prince Fabian, annoyed by the change of subject and nodded.
“I am dead serious about it! I declare that my engagement with Her Highness Christiane is over and i banish her from the Kingdom!”
Prince Reynold nodded, then took my left hand and knelt before me. The venue went wild.
“Your Highness Christiane of Dumerg, will you marry me? And be the wife of Reynold Bahr.”
I was stunned as Prince Reynold looked up at me.
“Why Her Highness Christiane?! I’m the one who’s more suitable for His Highness Reynold!”
Noelia’s desperated cry brought me back to my senses.
“Um…”
When i was studied in the Bahr Kingdom, I noticed what a wonderful person Prince Reynold was, and there was no doubt that i was attracted to him…
As i was aware about my situation in this Kingdom, i couldn’t easily accept it.
Even if my fiancé, Prince Fabian, had just broke our engagement and banished me.
Even if he said such things, i didn’t want to see my Kingdom collapsed.
“Your Highness Christiane, no, Christiane. Am I not good enough?”
I had never seen Prince Reynold anxious like this.
I lowered my gaze.
“Your Highness Reynold, you are a wonderful man…but i must devote myself to ensuring this Kingdom doesn’t collapse.”
As a noble born in this Kingdom, as the daughter of a Princess, i must fulfilled my role.
Even if did not want this.
If i put my self first over everything else, i would become just like Prince Fabian.
Prince Reynold gave me an uncertain look as he read my mind.
“What do you mean?! Her Highness Christiane, no, this woman is no longer a citizen of our Kingdom! You cannot propose that kind of woman…”
“Fabian, wait!”
A low voice interrupted Prince Fabian, echoing through the venue.
The venue buzzed as His Majesty the King, his sturdy appearance swaying, rushed in.
“Father, why are you stopping me?! I’m warning His Highness Reynold!”
“Wait!”
“I’m just saying that proposing to such a woman is foolish, it doesn’t make sense!”
“Wait!!! I told you to wait!”
The King, gasping for breath, collapsed.
…I thought Prince Fabian realized that he was older to Prince Reynold, as he was the second Prince of the Bahr Kingdom…but i never thought he would say something stupid.
The Ministers who had followed the King rushed to support him.
“Father! Why can’t I say it?! It’s the truth!”
The King, who raised his head to look at Prince Fabian, turned pale.
“…I sincerely apologize, His Highness Reynold.”
Everyone gasped including me as the King knelt and bowed his head. The only ones who seemed unaffected were Prince Fabian, Noelia, and Prince Fabian’s cronies.
Prince Reynold released my hand, stood up, and turned to the King.
“Your Majesty Zebia, do not kneel!”
At Prince Reynold’s calm words, the King slowly rose.
“Could I leave Fabian’s punishment to you?”
The venue buzzed at the King’s words.
Prince Fabian and Noelia, their eyes widened, looked around the venue in confusion.
But no one dared to object to the words directed at Prince Fabian. Prince Fabian’s cronies were shocked, but none seemed brave enough to speak.
“Why must His Highness Fabian be punished?!”
It was Noelia who cried out recklessly.
…I thought it would be alright since Prince Reynold is a wonderful person, but it would be bad if the situation got worse. …Let’s kept playing the villainess and broke through the ice!
“Oh my, Noelia. As expected of someone who was a commoner until a year ago. You don’t seem to understand His Highness Reynold’s position.”
At my words, Noelia’s face turned crimson, and she ran to cling to Prince Fabian.
Prince Reynold, stared at me as if he had just scolded me.
“L-look, Your Highness Reynold, this is this woman’s true nature!”
“Fabian, Noelia, watch your mouth!”
The King snapped at Prince Fabian in a chilling voice.
Prince Fabian, kept trying to talk, finally shut it. …Did he really know his position?
…He didn’t, that was why things have turned out this way.
Noelia, was silent as the King told her to be. Of course, she still had a grudge.
