I’m Allergic to Pheromones - Chapter 47
Is this really the most dominant top-tier Alpha in the entertainment industry?
Nan Ju struggled to maintain her composure to keep from laughing out loud. Lowering her long lashes, she thought to herself: Today was truly an eye-opening experience.
“Ah! How did you fall?” The assistant gasped in shock, quickly putting down her things to help Cheng Fuxue up. However, the latter seemed annoyed that she was blocking the view, craning her neck left and right to peek around her.
“Move aside, you’re blocking my light.”
The assistant felt like kneeling right then and there. As she pulled Cheng Fuxue up, she discreetly grabbed a tissue from the table and whispered, “Wipe your mouth quickly—your drool is practically dripping.”
If people saw Cheng Fuxue staring at a beauty like a lovestruck fool in public, her carefully crafted image would be ruined.
Cheng Fuxue instinctively wiped her mouth with the tissue, but aside from a faint trace of foundation, nothing came off. Realizing she’d been tricked, she shot her assistant a glare.
Fortunately, the staff were too busy setting up the venue to notice, and the tall, sturdy assistant shielded her well. Only a few people saw her tumble off the lounge chair.
“This chair—its quality is terrible!”
Cheng Fuxue glared sternly at the chair, her tone icy. The assistant’s quick agreement helped salvage a shred of her dignity. All the while, she kept stealing glances at Nan Ju out of the corner of her eye, like a schoolgirl distracted by the pretty new transfer student.
Her skin was so fair, her hair so dark and thick, her lips so red, her lashes so long—she looked like a delicate, beautiful doll from childhood. Sob, I love her so much, so much…
Cheng Fuxue’s mind was in a daze. She had a peculiar habit—the more flustered she felt inside, the more composed and aloof she appeared on the outside. Her cold, unapproachable demeanor made people think twice before getting close.
Chen Lu only needed one look to know her artist was having another episode. Fighting the urge to roll her eyes, she shot several sharp glares at Cheng Fuxue, signaling her to rein it in. Whether the contract negotiation succeeded or not, at the very least, she shouldn’t embarrass herself in front of outsiders.
Misinterpreting the look, Cheng Fuxue frowned. What does Chen Lu mean? Is she telling me to make my move now?
“Hello, I’m Cheng Fuxue.”
Basked in the brilliant sunlight, the woman wore nothing but a loose white shirt. Her striking features, sharp brows, and long, bright peach-blossom eyes gave the illusion of undivided attention—as if whoever she looked at was special.
This was an Alpha unlike Su Wei or the others. Nan Ju thoughtfully eyed Cheng Fuxue’s long legs beneath the shirt and mused: If we’re just judging by legs, she does seem pretty dominant.
The April weather in Haicheng was already hinting at stifling heat. A breeze swept across the rooftop, making the baby’s breath in the translucent pink-white vase sway gently. Nan Ju looked at the fair, slender hand extended toward her and took it.
“Hello, I’m Nan Ju.”
Her fingers were gripped firmly, the warmth from their joined hands almost scalding. Surprised, Nan Ju widened her eyes, puzzled: Is she holding on so tight because she wants to arm-wrestle me?
Before she could figure it out, Cheng Fuxue deftly released her hand, her face radiating composure. “I still have filming to do. Miss Nan, would you mind waiting here for a while?”
The cameras were all set up, and the entire crew was waiting for Cheng Fuxue. Though Nan Ju found the big star a bit odd, she didn’t make things difficult for her at this moment.
“Not at all. I’ll just watch from the side.”
“I’ll handle the hosting. Fuxue, go finish the commercial shoot first,” Chen Lu interjected smoothly, stepping between them with practiced ease and shooting Cheng Fuxue a pointed look.
“Don’t think I didn’t see you sneakily touching that Omega’s fingers just now.”
Cheng Fuxue blinked back innocently.
She had a natural talent for provoking people, often driving Chen Lu to the brink of frustration. But with outsiders present, she at least had the decency to rein it in a little.
“Alright, Lu-jie, I’ll go now. Don’t worry, I’ll do a good job.”
Chen Lu gave her a look that clearly said, “Are you serious?” as she watched the star strut around the pool like a peacock in full display, only to circle back and stop right in front of Nan Ju’s chair.
The wind whipped her white shirt, billowing dramatically as Cheng Fuxue stood bathed in sunlight, her sharp features glowing, her short hair sleek and effortlessly cool—utterly dazzling.
With a graceful leap, she plunged into the pool, sending up a spray of white foam as she swam a full lap. Her strokes were powerful and elegant, like a swift, beautiful fish. When she surfaced near Nan Ju, her soaked shirt clung to her body, revealing the faint outline of toned abs and a tantalizing hint of her sculpted waistline.
Her gaze locked onto Nan Ju behind the camera, intense and unwavering. Her wet lashes resembled half-drooping peach blossoms as she curled her lips into a smile.
“Cut! Great work, Teacher Cheng!”
“Thank you, Teacher Cheng!”
Cheng Fuxue grabbed a towel from an assistant and draped it over her head, nodding to the crew before striding straight to Nan Ju.
“Sorry to keep you waiting.”
Nan Ju stared at her with a mix of surprise and amusement. The eagerness in the other woman’s demeanor reminded her of a large, wet dog begging for attention—earnest and impossible to ignore.
“Ahem…” Nan Ju coughed awkwardly, realizing where her thoughts had wandered.
Chen Lu couldn’t stand Cheng Fuxue’s habit of turning into a lovesick fool around exceptionally beautiful women and quickly nudged her. “Go change first before you catch a cold.”
“Stop acting like a creep, I’m begging you.”
Cheng Fuxue heard her manager’s muttered rebuke and pouted, shooting her a glare before reluctantly pulling the towel down to drape over her shoulders.
She was brilliant—this way, Nan Ju could admire both her striking handsomeness and the alluring sight of her damp, half-transparent shirt clinging to her toned abs. She was a genius!
“I’m staying like this!” Cheng Fuxue insisted stubbornly.
Her willfulness was legendary—even her family couldn’t sway her. Chen Lu had no choice but to give up.
Exhausted, the manager turned to smooth things over. “Miss Nan Ju, Fuxue’s shoot is done. Thank you for waiting so long. Shall we head to the lounge downstairs?”
Nan Ju nodded naturally.
Though called a lounge, it was actually a luxurious presidential suite. Since Cheng Fuxue was borrowing her own hotel’s outdoor swimming pool for a commercial shoot, the staff naturally had to ensure she was well taken care of.
Nan Ju sat in the spacious, opulent room sipping hand-ground coffee, calmly observing her surroundings with a thought: This business trip was totally worth it—she was still staying in a standard hotel room.
Her visit to Cheng Fuxue had been planned for a while.
The promotion of scent-blocking patches and subsequent pheromone suppressors required a spokesperson.
There was no better candidate than a superstar whose reputation, character, and connections commanded respect from nearly half the entertainment industry.
The ABO dynamics in this world were relatively mild. As a businesswoman, Nan Ju could pour vast sums into marketing, but the choice of spokesperson was crucial.
She wanted a special Alpha—one who didn’t take pride in discriminating against or suppressing Omegas and Betas—to endorse her product.
She had a hunch that Cheng Fuxue might be the right fit.
Just from their first encounter, when Cheng Fuxue had tripped, Nan Ju could tell this was no ordinary Alpha.
“Scent-blocking patches?” Cheng Fuxue stared curiously at the small item placed before her, poking it mischievously.
“Like a band-aid? Stick it on, and others won’t smell your pheromones?”
“Exactly. Besides this, there’s also a pheromone masking agent in development, initially intended for undifferentiated individuals. It’ll be released in two months.”
Before she could finish, Cheng Fuxue had already torn open a patch and slapped it onto the back of her neck, moving so quickly that even Chen Lu couldn’t stop her.
“Pretty neat. Can you still smell my pheromones now?” Cheng Fuxue stood up eagerly, looking expectantly at the other two in the room.
Adult Alphas and Omegas could usually control the release of their pheromones. Generally, no one would deliberately release them in front of others—it was seen as either a provocation or a come-on.
Of course, there were exceptions: during heats, ruts, or if one was unlucky enough to encounter someone in the throes of either.
Cheng Fuxue had once been ambushed by a fan in heat during a meet-and-greet, leaving her with deep-seated trauma. Since then, she avoided fans whenever possible.
Chen Lu, aware of her lingering discomfort, cautiously stepped closer and tested the air with her own pheromones—only to be met with the usual aggressive suppression.
“It really works!”
Nan Ju rested her chin on her hand, smiling. “The patches have been improved. One lasts six hours, but we don’t recommend using them for more than 48 hours straight—it can irritate the glands.”
Ever the shrewd manager, Chen Lu cut to the chase: “Is Fuxue the only spokesperson?”
“There’ll be two—one Alpha, one Omega.”
Betas had no pheromones and couldn’t detect them, so the patches were irrelevant.
Having two spokespersons meant they’d appear together in promotional materials, which raised numerous considerations for the artists involved. Chen Lu quickly ran through the shortlist of Omegas in the industry who might meet Cheng Fuxue’s standards and ventured, “Has the Omega spokesperson been decided yet?”
Cheng Fuxue also turned to look, her concern seemingly different from the manager’s as she frowned and asked, “You’re an Omega too—couldn’t you just be the spokesperson yourself?”
Nan Ju’s looks could dominate the entire entertainment industry.
“I can’t, it wouldn’t be appropriate,” Nan Ju shook her head before continuing, “The other spokesperson has already been chosen. Her name is Xu Zhuzhi—I heard you two are acquaintances?”
Cheng Fuxue…
Chen Lu…
Acquainted? Oh, they were more than acquainted. The only time Cheng Fuxue had appeared on an outdoor survival variety show, she’d ended up trending for losing a fight to this Omega.
Hearing that name again after three years made Cheng Fuxue’s eye twitch involuntarily: “Why her?”
Nan Ju smiled, her eyes curving happily. “Because I think she’s so Alpha—I really like her.”
After the others left, Cheng Fuxue remained seated in deep thought, her expression grave.
Chen Lu assumed she was still petty about that old scandal and felt a headache coming on. “I think this endorsement is excellent. Collaborating with Xu Zhuzhi could even help smooth over that incident from back then. Just… control yourself. Don’t pick fights with her again—you can’t win.”
The next second, Cheng Fuxue looked up blankly. “What are you talking about?”
Chen Lu snapped. “Weren’t you thinking about Xu Zhuzhi?!”
“Why would I think about that violent woman who’s got nothing going for her except her looks?” Cheng Fuxue rolled her eyes before adding, “I was thinking about Nan Ju.”
“She’s so beautiful—like a porcelain doll. I want to propose to her.”
Frowning in distress, Cheng Fuxue turned to her speechless manager and asked earnestly, “What do you think—should I buy a diamond ring or just transfer some assets to her directly?”
Chen Lu gritted her teeth and forced out, “I think you need to wash your brain first.”

As the shadows of green trees lengthened and faded, Nan Ju sat in her car and called Bai Cha.
“Kitten, did you register at school today?”
