That evening, the food tasted particularly delicious.

“….Ano~, Maki-san?”

“Delicious! So good!”

“….Eito, Maki?”

“So good—ugh!”

“Whoa! Water, water!”

…Gulp… Gulp… Puwaah!

“…Thank you, Glenn.”

“Yeah, it’s fine, but… is something going on?”

“Didn’t you get along with Ricott-chan?”

“No, it’s not that…”

Actually, I felt like I was getting along quite well with Ricott-san. 

After seeing even a glimpse of that king’s personality, I really appreciated Ricott-san’s straightforwardness.

But the problem was with me, and I couldn’t help but think about what to do.

“…I couldn’t cut through the Bullfang’s skin.”

“Bullfang skin is tough and elastic, so I think it can’t be helped.”

“Then what about the Minifang—”

“They’re just too cute!”

““…Huh?””

I began to enthusiastically talk about the cuteness of the Minifang. 

I had never seen a baby wild boar in real life since I was a city kid, but I was always captivated by their adorable appearance on TV. 

Well, I just liked cute things in general. But I never thought that would stop me from killing a Minifang in this world. 

As soon as I finished talking, the response from the two was—

““But it’s a magical beast, right?””

“That’s right! In the end, it’s still a magical beast!”

Yeah, I understand that I have to defeat it because it’s a magical beast. If it grows up, it will turn into a Bullfang, and I wouldn’t stand a chance against it.

“Even so, cuteness is precious!”

As I was getting a bit emotional, Alicia clapped her hands and made a suggestion.

“Then, why don’t you defeat a Slimy Insect?”

“…What’s a Slimy Insect?”

“Because it looks so grotesque among magical beasts, there aren’t many people who like to hunt them. They also move slowly and are weaker than Bullfangs. So it might be perfect for you, Maki-san.”

“I see… If it’s not cute, I might be able to handle it.”

The fact that it looks grotesque caught my attention. But maybe it would be a better idea to hunt a magical beast like that.

However, I wondered if it was okay to take Ricott-san with me to such a place.

When I raised that point, Glenn laughed and assured me it was no problem.

“Ricott has a strong sense of justice, so it’s no issue at all.”

“But it’s grotesque, right?”

“She didn’t say she was uncomfortable with it, so it should be fine, right?”

“Still, we can’t be certain about that.”

“Well, why not ask her tomorrow? Or do you want to kill the Minifang instead?”

“That’s impossible!”

“Then tomorrow, let’s check with Ricott-chan. And if she’s okay with it, we’ll go hunt the Slimy Insect.”

I felt a bit uneasy. But since killing the Minifang was emotionally difficult for me, it couldn’t be helped. 

If Ricott-san says she’s against it, then I’ll think of another method.

“Well then, I’ll head to bed early to prepare for tomorrow.”

I told the two of them and returned to my room from the living room, lying on my bed while thinking about my childhood friend.

I wonder if Madoka is okay…

Though she had a strong sense of justice, Madoka sometimes lacked decisiveness. And whenever she hesitated, she would often consult me.

I also consulted her quite often, though.

“Well, with Yuria and that guy around, there shouldn’t be any problems… as long as the student council president doesn’t get too carried away and do something weird.”

I had some understanding of Yuria and that guy’s personalities. But I had no idea about the student council president since I had never interacted with him.

I hope he doesn’t go off the deep end just because he got probably the best job as a Hero… but I’m sure Akigase-sensei will take care of that.

Even though many of us got dragged into this, she’s the only adult around.

“…I guess I’ll go to sleep now.”

Tomorrow, I’ll be hunting the Slimy Insect and experience my first level-up.

I’m looking forward to seeing how much my stats will increase, and I’m sure the day when I can hunt magical beasts myself is just around the corner.

“Yawn… Zzzz...”

And since coming to this world, I seemed to have improved my sleep quality, easily drifting off to sleep once again.
