The reason I separated from the three others was to retrieve the special fruits that temporarily boosts abilities.

While I could have come to get it alone, we needed enough for all three of them. Also, though the three soldiers could defend themselves, Alicia couldn’t. Protecting someone while also defending yourself is difficult, so it’s safer for both of us to stay together.

“We’re almost there, let’s hurry!”

“Right!”

Even though we had gotten quite far, I could still hear the sounds of battle between the three and the Orc Lord behind us. This just showed how intense the fight was.

With every minute, every second that passed, their chances of survival were dropping. I couldn’t afford to think about unnecessary things right now—our only focus should be achieving our goal.

“Alicia, stop!”

As we moved further ahead, I signaled her and pointed out a magical beast hiding about 100 meters ahead in the bushes. It was relatively small, but its level was a staggering 50, way beyond our capabilities.

Although we were in a hurry, rushing would be fatal. If we died here, the three back there would have no hope of survival either. I forced myself to stay calm and motionless for about a minute—finally, the magical beast disappeared from sight.

“Alicia, give me a magic potion. I doubled my Magic stat, so now I can recover.”

“Y-Yes!”

Alright, my mana is replenished. But this boost is only temporary. And once the effect wears off, my stats will revert.

If I hit zero mana at the wrong moment, I won’t be able to find the others. And even if we defeat the Orc Lord, we won’t make it back to Granzawall.

“…I’ll have to be careful to eat the bananas little by little, at the right time.”

I muttered to myself as I thought over the strategy. I had told Alicia and the others that our success rate was 10%. But in reality, with the ability-boosting fruits, it had increased to 15%.

We could’ve used this strategy from the start, but I wasn’t sure if I should tell Vil-san about the fruit on my own authority.

Still, in an emergency, I had no choice but to push forward with this method. Alicia hadn’t questioned me, likely realizing that protecting our lives took priority.

“….Huh?”

“What’s wrong, Maki-san?”

No way… Are you kidding me?

“We need to get back, Alicia! Eat the grapes—we’re running at full speed!”
