Episode 47: The Super Common Hero Summoning 43
What should I do?…..Yeah, I can’t decide this solely by myself.
“Hey everyone, I have something to discuss…”
I informed them that the success rate was either 0 or 100 and that the display was the same whether we defeated the magical beasts or ignored them.
Then, I consulted them on which choice seemed more likely to succeed.
As I began to think while moving, the first to provide their opinion was Ryan-san, a seasoned soldier.
“I believe it would be better to rush through.”
“What’s your reasoning?”
“Yes. The Mage fighting ahead is likely at least an advanced class. The fact that they’re still alive surrounded by this many magical beasts proves that.”
“It’s not guaranteed that there’s only one otherworlder. What’s the possibility of multiple intermediate-class individuals?”
In response to my question, Ryan-san smiled wryly.
“That would actually work to our advantage. We have fruits that can temporarily boost our abilities.”
I see; I understood Ryan-san’s reasoning.
“So if we ally with the otherworlder ahead and have them eat the fruits before taking down the magical beasts, it would increase our survival chances, right?”
“Exactly. Knight professions like us excel in one-on-one combat but are at a disadvantage in one-versus-multiple situations. However, Mages can attack over a wide area with their magic, making them essential against multiple magical beasts.”
Thinking about how great it would be if the otherworlder up ahead was friendly, I realized that prioritizing survival meant I should accept Ryan-san’s proposal.
“Got it. Then… alright, the guidance has appeared. We’re going to dash through, so follow me!”
“Understood, Maki-san!”
“Just so you know, we’re faster than you, Mihiro. So there’s no way we’ll fall behind!”
“…Huh, is that so? I just ate quite a few grapes?”
“Ah… Well, our base stats are so different that just one grape is enough for us.”
Vil-san added to Ricott-san’s words.
…Yeah, that’s true. Now that I think about it, Alicia didn’t eat that many bananas, yet she had over 300 Magic stats.
“…Alright, let’s go!”
““““Did he just accepted the situation !?””””
What other choice do I have?! It would be a waste to spend any more time!
While telling myself that in my mind, I charged straight into the swarm of magical beasts ahead.
“Gehbarah!?”
“Piiiiiiihyororoo!?”
Various magical beasts were startled and made cries as we dashed past them. But we didn’t look back and moved straight ahead.
I was filled with a small hope and a large amount of anxiety about who we might find up ahead—when I finally caught sight of them.
“…Hey, wait, no way!”
There, leaning against a large tree and bleeding from all over, was the most unexpected person.
Someone with a strong sense of justice, always thinking about everyone else.
I called out the name of the person who had always raised their voice for me and would never abandon the others.
“Akigase-sensei!”
“…Mihiro… is that you…?”
“FUSHAAAAH!”
Before I could reach out my hand, before Akigase-sensei could extend hers, the fangs of a serpent magical beast lunged at her.
“Stop it!!!”
“Thunderbolt!”
“Buzzzaaa!?”
However, the serpent magical beast was suddenly struck by the descending lightning and collapsed in front of Akigase-sensei, letting out a black breath.
…Uh, what just happened?
“Haah! Haah! …Hah… hah…”
As I pondered that, Akigase-sensei seemed to lose strength in her body and sank to her knees, sliding down the tree.
“A-Alicia! Get a potion for Akigase-sensei, for her!”
“Y-Yes!”
From the look on Alicia’s face, it didn’t seem like the lightning was her magic.
…I guess there’s no point in thinking about it here. First, I need to help Akigase-sensei, escape from the Forest of Demons, and then figure it all out later.
