Episode 52: The Super Common Hero Summoning 47
The day after a well-deserved rest, I spent the morning answering Glenn’s barrage of questions.
“Of course, my first question is about this person here! Maki, you seem familiar with her. Could it be that she’s—”
“She’s from another world. When I went to the Forest of Demons, she just happened to get transferred there at the same time.”
“J-Just happened to…?”
“I’m Haruka Akigase. Thank you very much for helping my student.”
Perhaps because an older woman bowed to him, Glenn suddenly became flustered, mumbling for her to lift her head. It didn’t help that both Alicia and Ricott-san were also present, their gazes seemingly piercing into him.
“W-Well, now that I know Akigase-san’s identity, that’s the end of this question!”
“Thank you. You’re very kind, Glenn,”
Haruka said with a radiant smile, causing Glenn’s face to redden and break into an awkward grin.
Well, Sensei was a popular and beautiful teacher back in our world, so it was no surprise Glenn was flustered by her smile. However, he didn’t seem to notice the intense stares from the two women beside him.
“Ahem! Anyway, let’s hear Ricott-san’s report. You’re okay with that, Glenn?”
“Of course!”
“Honestly, are all men like this?”
“…Please don’t ask me that, Ricott-san.”
“Haha, sorry, sorry.”
Athough I felt a little sorry for Glenn, I couldn’t help him. So I decided to just listen to Ricott-san’s report.
“The most important thing is that there are no signs of a monster invasion.”
“So, it really was all part of Gimlet’s plot?”
“Yes. He admitted it was all to take Ryan’s position as Captain of the Guards.”
Apparently, it was well-known that Ryan-san, the most skilled soldier in Granzewall, would naturally be the one to scout. Gimlet had planned to take advantage of that to eliminate him.
“But that guy’s level was pretty low for his age. How did he expect to succeed Ryan-san?”
“Ryan’s skills were exceptional, so no one opposed his position. But normally, promotions follow seniority, and Gimlet likely just ran out of patience.”
“So, you just got caught up in all of this, Ricott-chan?”
“Yes. Though, I did aspire to be like Captain Ryan, so….”
At that moment, Glenn, who had been red-faced earlier, suddenly became serious and turned to Ricott-san.
“Ricott, about the Slimy Insect incident… I truly apologize once again.”
“Huh? Why bring that up now? You’ve already apologized.”
“I know. But when I heard you hadn’t returned from the Forest of Demons, I realized I hadn’t apologized sincerely enough.”
“…You didn’t need to, but thank you for worrying about me.”
…Hehe, Glenn and Ricott-san are definitely giving off good vibes. Even Alicia seemed to be watching with a warm smile, making it clear this was a relationship she approved of.
“A-Anyway! About Akigase-sama!”
“Right, that’s something important for both of you, isn’t it?”
Perhaps feeling embarassed, Ricott-san was trying to change the subject. Glenn also jumped in.
Exchanging amused glances with Alicia and Sensei, we turned our attention back to the matter at hand.
“Since Akigase-sama is of an advanced class, there’s been talk of hiring her in Granzawall. But because the discussion happened in front of the gate, word spread to the adventurers. And now there’s a bit of a competition over her.”
“Oh my, I seem to be quite popular.”
“Even intermediate classes are relatively rare here, and advanced classes are extremely valuable.”
“Well, I don’t want to make you feel bad, Mihiro-kun, but everyone else from our world was at least an intermediate class, right?”
“…W-Well, yeah, that’s true.”
I wanted to say, “Actually, I’m of special class.” But for now, I needed to focus on deciding what to do with Sensei.
“But Ricott-san, Sensei doesn’t have to choose to become a soldier or an adventurer, right?”
“Of course. We will respect Akigase-sama’s wishes.”
“Then I choose to stay with Mihiro-kun, to protect him.”
“Wait, please don’t. I came to this other world to enjoy it freely, on my own terms.”
The last thing I wanted was to have a teacher—or worse, a guardian—following me around in another world.
“But why? I’ve been so worried about you, Mihiro-kun!”
“I appreciate the concern, but I want to do what I want to do here.”
“And what exactly do you plan on doing?”
“Well, first of all… there might be more people who get transferred to the Forest of Demons, so I thought I’d help them out or something.”
To be honest, helping out new arrivals wasn’t my main goal. But I figured telling Sensei this would make things easier. Why? Because…
“That’s wonderful! I’ll help with that too!”
“Thanks. So when others get transferred here, you can take care of them, right?”
“Of course!”
With that, it seemed like her protective instincts were redirected from me to any future students who might get transferred to this world.
…Come on, guys. Don’t look at me like that. This is the best solution I could come up with!
