After Moriya finished preparing the Mail Bird, I sent it off to Alicia. This should let us find out about their situation as well.

A little while later, Madoka and Arata returned with Haku. I informed them that I had sent the Mail Bird.

“That’s a great idea!”  

“Yeah, we could’ve gotten their information much earlier if we had done that.”  

“Right? I completely forgot about it.”

As we exchanged our thoughts, we sat down to eat the dinner Moriya had prepared. Tonight’s menu was hamburg steaks. The meat was a mixture of two different magical beasts. But since it was all from magical beasts anyway, I don’t think we need to call it a “mix.”

… Well, either way, it was delicious. So I was more than satisfied.  

“… Hey, Moriya-san.”  

“Hmm? What is it, Arata-kun?”  

After we finished eating and were having some post-dinner tea, Arata spoke up, sounding a bit serious.  

“About Haku…”  

“Is there something wrong with Haku?”  

“Woof?”  

When we first met, Haku hadn’t been visible. But since Arata started traveling with it, Haku had been by his side constantly. Apparently, Haku had been keeping watch back then. Maybe, to Haku, it feels like he’s doing that together with Arata now.

However, Arata seemed to think differently.  

“… If it’s alright with you, Moriya-san, would you let me take care of Haku?”  

“Sure.”  

“I know I’m asking for something unreasonable, but right now, I really need Haku………….. Wait, what?”  

“I said it’s fine.”  

… This response surprised not just Arata, but me as well. None of us had expected Moriya to agree so easily.

“Are you really sure about this?” 

“Yeah, I don’t mind. Besides, it seems like Haku is eager too.”  

“Woof woof!”

It turns out I had misunderstood. Haku wasn’t just keeping watch with Arata out of duty; they genuinely got along well.  

“Th-thank you so much!” 

“Hold up a minute!”  

“What’s wrong, Maki-kun?”  

“I’ve got a question. Haku is your familiar, right? Can you really just hand him over to Arata like that?”

If familiars could be transferred that easily, the value of people with Taming skills would skyrocket. Yet, in both Granzawall and the royal capital, I’ve never seen anyone with Taming skills. Is Moriya an exceptional case because of his divine-class profession, or are people with Taming skills just that rare?

“It won’t be a problem if he wants to use my familiar. I’ll transfer the mana supply to Arata-kun. Though that will mean constant mana consumption. But I’ll reduce the required amount, so it should be fine.”  

… Yeah, Moriya is definitely extraordinary. But seriously, is transferring the mana supply something anyone can normally do?

“Hey, Moriya, is that something anyone with Taming skill can do?”  

“Of course not! It’s impossible for most people. It’s only possible because it’s me. Oh, but maybe you could do it, Maki-kun.”  

“No, no, I don’t have any Taming skills.”  

“If you have a large amount of mana, you can tame creatures without the skill. Having the skill just makes it easier. Without it, well… simply put, you just overwhelm them with mana.”

… Wait, you’re telling me *I* can do that? I’m an Appraiser (Divine Eye), not a combat class!  

Sure, I have more mana than average compared to my other stats. But I still doubt I have anywhere near as much as Moriya. After all, he’s a ‘divine-class’ Mage.

“… Moriya, just how much mana do you have?”  

“Me? Wanna see my stats?”

Wait, can you really just reveal your stats so casually? While I was thinking about that, Moriya went ahead and displayed his stats.  

“…… Huh?”  

Moriya’s Magic stat, as well as his level, were absolutely absurd.

“… 6500 Magic?”  

“… Level 150?”  

“… This is beyond extraordinary.”  

“Is it? Well, I’ve leveled up quite a bit since coming here. Thanks to that, I was able to make Haku my familiar and transfer it to Arata-kun now.”

He said it so casually, but being level 150 is seriously outrageous. And the fact that a ‘divine-class’ Mage (Divine Magus) has this much mana is even more insane.  

… If we had ended up as enemies, we’d have been dead in an instant.  

At the same time, I couldn’t help but feel uneasy thinking about the people who tried to kill Moriya back then. I don’t know what their levels were at the time. But as a divine class, his stats should’ve been pretty high. After all, he wasn’t a non-combat class like me. He was genuinely a combat class.

“Alright then, Arata-kun, come over here for a moment.”

“Y-yes.”  

Summoned by Moriya’s gesture, Arata stood up and walked over to him. Moriya also stood, placing his right hand on Arata’s head as he began to speak.  

“I, Moriya Taiku, propose the transfer of the familiar contract of Haku to Mitsurugi Arata.”  

As soon as he finished speaking, a white light emanated from Moriya’s body. It flowed through his right hand and into Arata.  

“Wh-what’s this?”  

“If you agree, the transfer will be complete.” 

“I-I, Mitsurugi Arata, agree to the transfer of the familiar Haku from Moriya Taiku.”  

“AWOOOooooooo—!”  

With that, the contract of Haku as a familiar was successfully transferred from Moriya to Arata.  

… Man, familiars are so cool. I kind of want one too.
