Episode 161: An Unexpected Survival Life 30
As we continued leveling up, my level had reached 20 after three months.
This progress was all thanks to Sunny.
As my level increased, so did my Magic stats. It had now grown to 600. I could even take down magical beasts over level 100 in a single strike. It was one of the reasons our level-grinding had been so smooth.
..…Although my other stats hadn’t grown nearly as much, meaning I still couldn’t fight without relying on magical tools.
“Alright, everyone. Are you ready to head back?”
While I was lost in thought, Moriya called out to us.
We had gathered in the living room and were about to use a teleportation magic circle to return to Granzawall.
That said, we didn’t have much luggage.
One reason was that we hadn’t planned to come here in the first place. But more importantly, Moriya had given us an incredibly useful tool.
“We’re all set, Taiku-san!”
“But, Moriya-san, are you sure it’s alright?”
“Of course, no problem. It’s not like I’ll use it. You all will find it much more useful—this magic bag.”
Yes, a magic bag.
A rare and precious item that only Alicia had owned until now.
We stuffed it full of materials from the magical beasts we had defeated in this area.
Frankly, selling this haul in the royal capital would likely make us an absurd fortune—enough money to live comfortably for several generations without ever working.
That’s how valuable the materials inside were, to an almost ridiculous degree.
“……Moriya, you’re not going to use these materials yourself?”
“Me? Nah, I don’t need them. Materials from magical beasts around here just aren’t compatible with me.”
Oh, right. This guy was a level 150 divine-class profession.
“Use these materials wisely to develop the Forest of Demons properly, okay?”
“Well, thanks to the teleportation magic circle, coming back here won’t be too much trouble.”
“That’s true. But since you’ve leveled up and I even handed over familiars, I’d like you to come here on your own strength next time.”
“Why do I have to go through such a hassle? Besides, it’s a waste of time that can be spent helping you.”
“Haha, don’t worry about me! I’m fine being the lowest priority!”
Despite his nonchalant tone, I had a feeling Moriya would feel lonely once we left.
He had been alone for so long before we arrived, and now we were leaving again. The emotional backlash was bound to be significant.
“……..Moriya.”
“What is it?”
“…Don’t cry, okay?”
“I won’t cry! Besides, I can’t cry—I’m a skeleton, remember?”
He puffed out his chest, looking smug.
Well, at least he didn’t seem too down about it for now.
“Shall we get going?”
“Yeah, Yuria-chan and Alicia-san are probably worried.”
“True. I came to the Adelreed Kingdom and ended up here almost immediately. I still have a lot of work to do.”
“You’re both so diligent, Madoka-chan and Arata-kun. Compared to you, Maki-kun is…”
“What did you just say?”
Moriya muttered something cryptic involving my name. But I decided to brush it off.
“Haha, it’s nothing at all!”
As our conversation wrapped up, we stepped outside, only to find Sunny and the other familiars waiting for us.
…….No, to be precise, they weren’t looking at us. Their attention was on Moriya.
“…Pipi.”
“…Kuuun.”
“…….”
“Haha, come on, guys. Don’t make it harder to keep my composure like this.”
The three familiars approached Moriya, nuzzling against him.
Despite claiming he wouldn’t cry, Moriya seemed to grow somber in response to their affection.
“Take care of these three for me, alright?”
“Pikyaa!”
“Gaw!”
“…….”
“When you come back here, I’ll give a familiar to your other friend too. Then all four of you can work together.”
The familiars nodded firmly to his words. After a moment, they pulled away from him and returned to their respective owners.
Then, with one final glance, they turned back toward Moriya.
“Well then, we’re off.”
“Thank you for everything, Taiku-san!”
“We’ll come back. Let’s train together again next time!”
“I’ll be looking forward to it.”
Though we hadn’t returned to our original location, Moriya had memorized the coordinates where he had set the teleportation magic circle.
Standing in front of his house, he began chanting something. And a glowing teleportation magic circle appeared beneath our feet.
“Well then… see you around.”
“””We’re off!”””
“Haha… you guys are going *back*, aren’t you?”
As Moriya had pointed out, the phrase “we’re off” might not be entirely accurate.
But since we fully intended to return to this house where Moriya resides, there was nothing wrong with those words either.
The light gradually grew brighter, to the point where it became difficult to keep our eyes open. As the glow intensified, I caught a glimpse of Moriya standing there, giving us a small wave.
And then—
We were transported back to the location where the teleportation magic circle had been set.
