I’m an Appraiser, But What the Heck is a [Divine Eye]? ~I Want to Live Freely as the World’s Best Beginner Class~ - Episode 162: Granzawall 4
Episode 162: Granzawall 4
Today was the day Maki and the others were scheduled to return.
Alicia had been restless since morning, pacing back and forth at the inn’s entrance repeatedly.
“Nee-san, calm down a little.”
Glenn was observing her behavior with an amused smile and spoke up.
However, Alicia did the exact opposite of calming down. She approached Glenn and, in a slightly louder voice, rejected the idea outright.
“There’s no way I can calm down! Maki-san and the others are coming back today! How can *you* stay so composed, Glenn?”
“Well, because they’re coming back safe and sound, right? Wouldn’t it be better to greet them with a smile?”
“That’s true, but… but… ugh, no! I still can’t do it!”
“…Sigh.”
Alicia attempted to calm herself by closing her eyes and taking several deep breaths. However, it didn’t last long, and she gave up almost immediately.
“It’s not just you, nee-san. Even Akigase-san and Yuria-san can’t seem to settle down.”
“Why are their names suddenly being brought up here?”
“You didn’t know? The two of them were so restless they ended up going to the Forest of Demons to hunt monsters.”
As Glenn had said, Yuria and Haruka had woken up unusually early that morning. Unable to remain still, they both headed into the Forest of Demons. They were hoping that physical activity might distract them.
“Well… that makes me better than those two! At least I didn’t go running into the Forest of Demons!”
“Honestly, there’s not much of a difference.”
“Sh-Shut up!”
Glenn had a point.
It was currently seven in the morning—a time when they would normally still be asleep. Glenn had woken up early simply to take over Alicia’s duties. He judged that she was too preoccupied to work.
In Alicia’s case, she had been so excited that she woke up early and hadn’t been able to get back to sleep. That’s why she was now pacing endlessly at the entrance. In Glenn’s eyes, she wasn’t much different from those who had headed into the forest.
“Maki and the others are returning around noon, right? Why not take it easy for a bit?”
“That’s impossible! What if I fall asleep and oversleep? That would be the *worst*!”
“…Ah, okay. Got it.”
Letting out a heavy sigh, Glenn decided to head back to his room to finish the remaining paperwork.
“Hey, Glenn! Where are you going?”
“You’re too distracted to work, so I’ll finish up for you.”
“…Oh. Thank you.”
“Sure thing. Maybe nee-san should head into the Forest of Demons like the other two? Vil-san and Ricott should still be there.”
Watching Glenn leave, Alicia seemed to take his suggestion to heart. Soon after, she left the inn and sprinted toward the Forest of Demons.
As noon approached, Glenn had finished his work and went to the teleportation magic circle. There, he found not only Alicia but also Yuria, Haruka, Vil, Ricott, Ryan, and Leyreina.
Additionally, soldiers and adventurers who had supported the development of the settlement had gathered. Among them was Mirelle, the one who had caused the teleportation incident in the first place.
“They’re still not here…! Why aren’t they here yet?!”
“P-Please calm down, Alicia-san!”
“She’s right! As a lord, you must remain composed! …Composed, I say!”
“……..All of you, calm down,”
Glenn interjected, exasperated as he observed the overly excited Alicia, Yuria, and Haruka.
The three turned to Glenn in unison and shouted the same thing.
“”“IMPOSSIBLE!”””
“…Ah. Okay.”
Realizing his words wouldn’t get through to them, Glenn quietly took a step back.
Just then, the teleportation magic circle began to glow, signaling its activation.
The three whipped around, holding their breath. All eyes turned toward the magic circle.
When faint shadows began to appear in the glowing light, the trio gulped audibly. And then—
“”“T-They’re here—-!”””
The three raised joyful cries as the light began to fade.
