After uncovering the shocking truth, we decided to move somewhere we could talk calmly. Alicia suggested the inn where she and the others were staying, and we headed there.  

Returning to Granzawall was an option. But both Alicia and Leyreina insisted they wanted to discuss things immediately. And honestly, I appreciated the urgency. I also wanted to sort things out sooner rather than later.

“So, Taiku Moriya really is just a person with a normal way of thinking?”  

“Well, he’s still from another world, so it’s more like he has a mindset closer to ours than what you’d call ‘normal’ here. That said, he’s been in this world for a long time. So he should be able to understand perspectives like yours too.”  

Setting aside the fact that he looks like a skeleton, he’s basically just a regular person.  

……..Though, being someone with a divine-class profession makes “normal” a stretch. Still, I’ve explained as much to them through the Mail Bird.  

“So, I want to start working under the assumption that we’ll bring Moriya here.”  

“That would certainly be beneficial for us, but… a divine-class profession, isn’t it?”  

“Yeah.”  

“…Haaa. Looks like I’ll have to report this to His Majesty again.”  

Alicia let out an incredibly deep sigh. I couldn’t help feeling a little guilty.  

“I’m planning to go with you. The people in the capital probably have the most rigid views on Moriya, and we’ll need to explain the familiars as well.”  

“That would… yes, that would be very helpful.”  

“Shouldn’t we go too?”  

“I’ll come too! For Taiku-san’s sake!”  

“No, just Sunny and I will go.”  

Despite their enthusiasm, I declined.  

Everyone probably wanted to talk to Alicia and Leyreina-san as well. Madoka would be better off staying with Yuria, while Arata would likely have Vil-san and the Captain wanting to discuss things. Knowing them, they might even suggest a mock battle.  

Besides, considering how much everyone had worked hard, it was our turn to make sure they got some rest.  

Madoka and Arata had leveled up significantly, and Haku and Gregori were ridiculously strong here. Honestly, if it was just about maintaining the settlement, those two and their familiars could probably handle it alone.  

“Hm… well, if that’s the case.”  

“I suppose it can’t be helped.”  

“Hey, Maki. Is it okay if I come along?”  

Just when I thought we’d settled things, Yuria unexpectedly spoke up.  

“Aren’t you sticking with Madoka?”  

“Don’t just assume we’re a pair!”  

“But you two are best friends, right?”  

“We are, but that doesn’t mean we’re always together.”  

Madoka nodded emphatically in agreement with Yuria’s words.  

“If you’re heading to the capital, you’ll need escorts, right? Plus, it might be nice to get a change of scenery.”  

“Um, Maki-san. If Yuria-san is coming along, I’d feel much more reassured.”  

……Well, if both of them thought so, I couldn’t see any issue.  

“Alright, fine.”  

“Yay! Now I can challenge the Knight Commander again!”  

“…..What?”  

Did she just say something terrifying? Was her idea of a “change of scenery” fighting the Knight Commander?  

“I can’t stand losing to him!”  

“Okay, but… is that really what you’d call a change of pace?”  

“It is for me!”  

“Ah… right. Got it.”  

When someone responds so confidently, there’s nothing left to say. Classic muscle-brain. I’ll never understand it.  

And so, it was decided that the group heading to the capital would consist of me, Sunny, Alicia, and Yuria.  

Of course, we couldn’t meet His Majesty the moment we arrived in the capital. We’d likely have to wait for a while. Sorry, Moriya, but you’ll have to be patient for a bit longer.  

“When should we leave for the capital?”  

“Tomorrow should be fine.”  

“Yeah, that makes sense. The sooner we get there, the less time we’ll be waiting.”  

“Actually, His Majesty said to come whenever Maki-san returned. You’re free to meet him as soon as possible.”  

“…Wait, what?”  

Did Alicia just drop a major bombshell?

“……We need to leave immediately! We can’t keep His Majesty waiting!”  

“That’s true. Let’s depart as soon as we’re ready. Yuria-san, are you good to go?”  

“Of course. I’ve been ready ever since I heard the three of you were returning!”  

You knew too, Yuria?!  

Ugh. Why does it feel like I’m the only one who doesn’t get a moment to relax?
