Episode 188: An Unexpected Survival Life 55
Curious about how Arata had changed after overcoming the trial my Appraisal skill had shown him, I decided to secretly Appraise him again.
When I checked, I noticed a symbol next to his occupation that I’d never seen before. I tilted my head in confusion.
“…Sword Saint, +·?”
Next to the words *Sword Saint*, there was a “+” symbol displayed.
What could this mean?
If I think about it simply, it might indicate that he’s stronger than a regular Sword Saint. But just how much stronger? That part I couldn’t figure out.
Then I noticed a description about the “+” in the display. Wow, Appraisal skills—or rather, ‘divine-class’ Appraiser (Divine Eye)—are so convenient.
“What does it say…? ‘Greater stat growth compared to a normal occupation, with an additional enhancement to occupational abilities.’ Hmm.”
The most eye-catching part is definitely the “greater stat growth”.
This means that with each level-up, Arata will grow even more than before.
Also, the enhancement to his Sword Saint abilities means that combat will become easier. It would lead to faster level-ups.
Everything seems to be heading in a good direction for him.
“What’s up, Mihiro?”
“Oh, I was Appraising you, Arata.”
“Appraising me?”
“Take a look at this.”
When I showed the display screen to Arata, his eyes widened at the surprising effects of the “+”.
“……What the heck is this?”
“It’s new to me too. But it’s undoubtedly something that emerged because you defeated the Dullahan on your own.”
“…I see. So that’s why you told me to handle it alone back then.”
“Well, the system flagged it as ‘explosive growth’. Though even I didn’t expect *this* much growth.”
Defeating the Dullahan had also boosted Arata’s level to 50.
Compared to his previous level-ups, his stats had grown significantly. With not only his Strength and Endurance, but even his Speed surpassing the 1,000 mark.
…….Arata has finally stepped into the realm of the superhuman.
“..…But the battle with the Dullahan was incredibly close. And there are even stronger foes deeper in the forest, right?”
“Yeah, probably.”
“I see. …I still have a long way to go.”
Oh, Arata seems intent on pushing further into the superhuman realm.
…Well, as someone from another world, he was already somewhat beyond the ordinary by this world’s standards.
As I mused on this, Moriya returned, accompanied by a familiar.
“Sorry for the wait!”
“I’ve been waiting!”
“Haha! Yuria-chan, you’re so straightforward. Let me introduce your new familiar!”
Peeking out from behind Moriya was a creature.
It had long ears that stood upright, big, round eyes, and a nose that extended slightly forward.
Its brown fur swayed in the breeze, and its fluffiness rivaled Haku’s.
“…..Guo?”
“…..It’s so cuteeee!”
“This is Fosse, the Kung-Fu Kangaroo.”
“Kung-Fu Kangaroo? It looks exactly like a kangaroo!”
“It’s absolutely adorable! Thank you so much, Taiku-san!”
“You’re welcome! Now, let’s go ahead and form your Familiar Contract!”
“Yes!”
With a beaming smile, Yuria responded energetically.
As Moriya happily carried out the contract, Fosse slowly approached Yuria and gently rubbed its head against her.
“…Nice to meet you, Fosse.”
“…Guo!”
“When we reach the capital, we’re going to knock out the Knight Commander together!”
“Guo? …Guooo!”
W-whoa. It seems incredibly motivated now.
Stat-wise, Fosse is overwhelmingly stronger, but… my condolences to the Knight Commander.
“Alright! Instead of chatting here, why don’t I invite you all to my house?”
Click-clacking as he walked, Moritani led us to his house.
……It may felt odd to say that we’d returned. But since we’d returned to Granzawall, then head to the capital and only now made our way back here again, I guess it can’t be helped.
Ryan-san and the others followed us without a hint of doubt. Truly, I’m grateful for that.
All that’s left now is for me to resolve the cost of Moriya’s forbidden magic.
