Episode 216: Preparations for Hospitality in the Onsen District
While Maki and the others headed to the royal capital, those remaining in the hot spring town were busy preparing for their guests.
The preparation efforts were being directed by Glenn, Haruka, and Ryan. Glenn handled the accommodations and hot spring arrangements for the visitors from the royal capital. Haruka, along with Ren and Sumire, worked on preparing the meals. While Ryan supervised the town’s security with soldiers like Vil and Ricott to ensure safety around the area.
Everyone was putting in their utmost effort to make the royal inspection a success.

“Are the inns ready? The hot springs seem fine, too. Now, what to do if more people show up than expected…”
Sufficient lodging had been secured to accommodate a considerable number of guests. Even if there was an overflow, the innkeepers were reassured that any additional costs would be covered by Alicia, the local lord. However, Glenn raised a critical concern: handling unexpected numbers.
When the town first opened, there were few visitors. So it wasn’t an issue. Now, however, adventurers and tourists alike flocked to the town. The presence of the nation’s king would undoubtedly cause a stir.
While they anticipated knights from the royal escort ensuring security, they also knew their local team had to strengthen their measures.
“The security for the reserved inns is solid. If we need more, I’ll coordinate with Ryan-san and the others. Whew… It’s tough, but I’ve got to do my best!”
Glenn steeled himself. He was inspired by the hard work of Maki and his sister Aliciain the capital.

Haruka was busy preparing a massive amount of food alongside Ren, Sumire, and the local cooks. While Ren and Sumire worked efficiently, some of the cooks were initially bewildered by the unfamiliar techniques introduced by Haruka’s team. Yet, as professionals, they quickly adapted and were eager to learn new skills.
Once they adjusted, the cooks closely observed Haruka and Sumire’s methods, keen to improve their craft. Even if they failed at first, they managed to succeed in subsequent attempts under Haruka’s encouraging guidance.
“Will this much food be enough?”
“It should be fine. And if it runs out, I’ll whip up something on the spot.”
“That’s so like you, Mamiyu-kun.”
“What about you, Sumire? You’re handling desserts all on your own.”
When establishing the Onsen District, Alicia and Glenn had planned for a large number of guests. So they had hired many cooks for the main meals. However, there weren’t any chefs specialized in desserts among them. While the meal-prep cooks could handle simple desserts, intricate sweets were left entirely to Sumire.
“No worries. Akigase-sensei is helping me out.”
“That’s right, Mamiyu-kun. So, just focus on doing the best you can.”
“Got it! Haha, now I’m actually looking forward to this. The more I can show off my quick cooking, the better!”
Ren’s cheerful attitude lifted the spirits of the group. Haruka and Sumire exchanged a glance and smiled warmly.

Meanwhile, Ryan and the soldiers ventured into the Forest of Demons. They were hunting monsters to ensure safety. Although monster hunting was part of their regular duties, this time they were taking extra care in anticipation of the royal visit.
Some soldiers were nearing level 50. But even then, none could handle monsters in this area alone. The forest was accessible only via a teleportation magic circle. It was a remote and perilous location. Monsters near the town were manageable, but those in the hot spring area posed significant danger.
“Always have at least five people tackle a single monster! If you think it’s too much, retreat immediately. Report to me, Vil, or Ricott!”
“Wh-what?! M-me?”
Ricott exclaimed in surprise, not expecting her name to be called.
Although a lower class, Ricott had surpassed level 50. It made her the most skilled after Ryan and Vil. Her consistent training alongside them had earned her respect, even from senior soldiers.
“Have confidence, Ricott. You’re getting stronger.”
“That’s right. However, as a lower-class profession, you still don’t match up to me or the Captain. If you face the monsters with your comrades instead of alone, you should be fine.”
“…Y-yes! Understood!”
“Good! Now, let’s begin the monster hunt! Everyone, don’t die out there!”
“”””Yes, sir!””””
Ryan and the soldiers stepped into the Forest of Demons, a place filled with vicious monsters. Each soldier went about their tasks, and preparations for the royal visit continued to move forward.
A little while later—Maki and the others returned to the designated area.
