After some time, Akagi began to move.  

The slow pace Akagi had been maintaining toward Granzawall suddenly changed—she covered more than double her usual distance in just one day.  

“Alicia! Akagi is on the move!”  

“Is that true, Maki-san?”  

I immediately informed Alicia, while Glenn dashed off to notify Sensei and the others at their mansion.  

After some time, Glenn returned. He brought the otherworlders back to Alicia’s estate.  

“Mihiro-kun! What’s Akagi-san’s current status?”  

“Just yesterday… no, to be precise, only last night, she covered nearly double her usual distance.”  

“Double the distance just overnight?”  

“Could it be she’s using a horse or something?”  

“Or maybe she just ran. Her level seems pretty high, after all.”  

Honestly, how she managed to cover that distance isn’t the main issue.  

The real problem is how long it will take before she reaches Granzawall.  

“According to the Appraisal, the most likely scenario is two days. The second most likely is three days.”  

“Why is there variability in the Appraisal results?”  

“Isn’t it because it depends on Akagi’s actions? Appraisals that rely on the target’s decisions can only yield probabilities.”  

“So, does that mean there are other potential outcomes?”  

“No, in this case, it’s just these two.”  

If it predicted something vague like ‘tomorrow’ or ‘in over four days’, it’d be hard to plan accordingly.  

That said, the Appraisal gives us at least two days. We need to use that time to prepare against Akagi.  

“……Well, the best safety measure is that His Majesty and the others are no longer here.”  

“That’s true. If this had happened three days earlier, it would’ve been an attack while His Majesty was still staying here.”  

Yesterday, His Majesty and his entourage returned to the royal capital via teleportation from the Onsen District.  

Although they had expressed a desire to stay longer, it seemed they had been away from the castle for too long.  

An envoy even came all the way to Granzawall by carriage from the capital to fetch them.  

I overheard something about mountains of work piling up… but, well, that’s on them.  

As they departed, I heard someone muttering something about “relying on the Appraisal skill somehow!”—but I ignored it completely.  

……..Surely ignoring that won’t count as treason, right?  

“Mihiro, what’s the status of your magic tools? I’ve seen the defensive ones, but what about offensive tools?”  

“Why do you ask, Arata? Curious?”  

“Kind of. You’re still weak, honestly. If you faced Akagi head-on, you wouldn’t stand a chance.”  

“……..You don’t have to be so blunt about it.”  

“It’s the truth.”  

……..Yeah, I can’t argue with that.  

“Well, I’ve made a few. Relying solely on the Blade of Severance would drain my mana in no time.”  

Even the defensive magic tools I crafted require mana to function.  

While they can withstand powerful attacks if there’s enough mana, without it, they’re just junk.  

I understand that was a necessary trade-off for creating strong defenses, but I can’t help but wonder if there was another way.  

The Appraisal skill confirmed this was the optimal approach, so there shouldn’t be any mistakes—but still.  

“Fair enough. At least you’ll be able to defend yourself.”  

“Not ‘defeat her’, huh?”  

“Impossible.”  

“It’s not happening.”  

“No way.”  

“Yeah, no chance.”  

“…D-Does everyone have to agree all at once?”  

Hearing such unanimous rejection from everyone was kind of demoralizing.  

“Maki, people treat you surprisingly roughly, don’t they?”  

“Mihiro-kun, do your best!”  

“…Ugh, Yaka-san is the only one who’s cheering for me!”  

I’ll do my best. I’m not going to lose to Akagi!  

“I’ll inform Ryan-san and the others to focus entirely on defending Granzawall.”  

“…..Yeah, that’s the best approach. I’ll also do another Appraisal to reassess Akagi’s potential actions.”  

And so, we continued our preparations against Akagi’s imminent arrival.
