Episode 257: Hot Springs, Hospitality, and Trouble 55
Our discussion was put on hold, and we each decided to organize our thoughts independently.
There was simply too much information to process. And it seemed like everyone had their own priorities to sort through.
Alicia needed to evaluate what to report to His Majesty, while Arata was struggling with whether or not to help the student council president, Kouya.
For me, Alicia’s task seemed more critical. But considering Arata’s feelings, it wasn’t something I could just dismiss.
If Arata decided to help the student council president, I wouldn’t stop him.
I’d worry, of course, but I don’t have the right to stand in his way.
If he asked me to join him… well, that’s another question entirely.
If what Akagi said about my Appraiser (Divine Eye) reaching Maria is true, it could escalate into a war involving the Adelreed Kingdom.
With that in mind, perhaps it’s better if I don’t get involved at all.
“…But still.”
Even though I understand that in my head, there’s still a lingering feeling in my heart that makes me wonder if there’s something I could do.
If this were the old me, I would’ve immediately prioritized protecting the Adelreed Kingdom and refused to help.
“……..Does this mean something’s changing inside me, little by little?”
I thought I’d be freer than this. But when you form connections with people, you realize some things aren’t so simple.
And this is one of those times.
“There’s no way I can Appraise something as far as Rodgrul Kingdom anyway.”
Even with the help of the bananas, it would be tough. The Rodgrul Kingdom is beyond three other nations—far too distant.
“…Wait, if I transfer to the Shriden Kingdom and Appraise from there, it’s a neighboring country. I might just barely manage.”
It’s uncertain unless I try. But it would definitely consume less mana than doing it from the Adelreed Kingdom.
If we go, it’ll definitely be Arata and me. If we explain the situation, Sensei might insist on joining too.
As for Madoka and Yuria……… I’m not sure.
We’ll also need to leave behind enough forces to protect Granzawall, the post town, and the Onsen District. That’s something we’ll need to discuss.
Still, if Moriya stays behind, they’d be fine without us.
He’s a divine-class profession. And his level must exceed 100—Haku’s level is 150, after all.
…………Wait a minute. If Arata goes, doesn’t that mean Haku will go too?
“…Just the four of us—me, Sunny, Arata, and Haku—might be enough.”
We can’t afford to let our guard down, of course. But Haku’s strength is unmatched among us, except for Moriya.
Among humans, Arata is at the top. And if I provide support… yeah, it seems doable.
“If magic becomes an issue, having Sensei along is an option. But if we can counter magic with magical tools, two people and two familiars might be all we need.”
We’ll definitely need magical tools to counter status ailments………. wait a second.
“Why am I the one making all these plans? Shouldn’t I be thinking about this only after Arata asks me to join?”
Shaking my head lightly, I moved from the chair to the bed and flopped down.
…Another problem on top of the last one.
“When will I finally get to freely enjoy this world for myself?”
I could abandon everything and live as I please… but no, something inside me says that’s not the right choice.
Building connections with people is important, but it sure complicates things.
“…Yawn. Damn, I’m getting sleepy.”
The next discussion is scheduled after dinner.
Until then… I guess I’ll rest for a bit.
…Zzz.
