Episode 258: Epilogue 

After dinner that day. We reconvened for our second discussion of the day.  

The same members from earlier in the day were present. And Alicia was the first to speak.  

“I plan to share the information we received from Akagi-san with His Majesty as is.”  

“You’re not worried that I might be lying~?”  

“If that were the case, it would mean I lack judgment.”  

“...Sigh. Don’t worry; I haven’t lied~.”  

“Thank you, Akagi-san.”  

“No way~! I would never lie to Glenn-san’s sister~!”  

…Yep, Akagi is just as usual.  

That said, His Majesty likely has his own ways of gathering intelligence on other nations. So this might just end up being a confirmation of information.  

“I’ll also inform His Majesty to keep the existence of the Appraiser (Divine Eye) as secret as possible, but…”  

“It’s probably inevitable that the knights might let something slip.”  

The nature of my profession is already known to a considerable number of people.  

While it hasn’t spread to the general public, the knights and ministers are aware of it. And although we’ve tried to keep it secret from Granzawall’s soldiers, I’ve overheard rumors speculating that I might have an extraordinary profession.  

If even one soldier carelessly mentions it elsewhere, those rumors could easily snowball.  

….…Well, it’s bound to be revealed eventually. And when that happens, it happens.  

“If we ask Moriya, he could teleport us at any time. So let me know when you’re ready.”  

“Maki-san as well.”  

“…M-me too?”  

“Yes. And we’ll need to bring some gifts.”

“We’ll bake some delicious cookies!”  

Well, we’ll also need to report about Akagi. So it’s fine, I guess.  

Next, Arata was the one to speak.  

“Hey, everyone… I, um…”  

But he trailed off after that, falling silent.  

It might be hard for him to say, but everyone here probably already knew what he wanted to say.  

“…You want to go help, don’t you?”

Arata raised his head. He was startled by my words.

Arata glanced around at everyone with a bewildered look. It was only to find them all smiling and nodding.  

“…………But there’s the risk of war and other dangers.”  

“True, but wouldn’t it be wrong for us to stop you, Arata?”  

“…Why’s that?”  

“Because we’re… outsiders in this world.”  

My words left Arata wide-eyed.  

Yes, we are outsiders—people from another world.  

In this world, we’re free from any bindings, truly free beings.  

That’s why His Majesty doesn’t try to restrain us. But he instead approaches us with requests for cooperation.  

No one in this world, not even otherworlders like us, has the right to take away that freedom.  

So if Arata wants to help the student council president, he should be allowed to do so.  

“Everyone… thank you, really.”  

“By the way, Arata. Is there anything you want me to do?”  

“…You, Mihiro?”  

“Yeah. Surely you don’t plan to go on a whim all by yourself?”  

At that, Arata looked at me, almost as if confirming it was really okay.  

“Come on, we’re friends, right? Plus, Haku and Sunny are coming too. We’re a small, elite team, so there shouldn’t be any problem.”  

“Wait, Maki-kun, you’re planning to go too!?”  

“I want to go as well~!”  

“I’ll join! As their teacher, it’s my responsibility to support my students!”  

“No, no. Too many people will make moving around a hassle. And teleporting that many would be impossible.”  

Especially with Madoka and Yuria, who both have familiars. Moving as a group would draw too much attention.  

Sunny is small, and while Haku is large, he’s manageable since he’ll be with Arata. That’s within acceptable limits.  

So the only viable option is……….  

“Sensei might be fine, right?”  

“Is that alright, Sensei ?”  

“Of course! Mihiro-kun, Arata-kun!”  

“Alicia, are you okay with this?”  

I turned to confirm with Alicia.  

She still has to report to His Majesty. And while I felt bad asking after just talking about freedom, I wanted her input.  

“…It’s not my place to stop you!”  

“Fair enough. I’ll explain things to His Majesty, so we’ll leave after the report. That okay?”  

“Of course! Thank you, Mihiro, Sensei!”  

If we can resolve the student council president’s issue, we’ll be able to focus on developing the Forest of Demons.  

And beyond that lies…..  

Surely a future of free adventures awaits!
